Chapter 253 - Fayre

Chapter 253 Fayre

When the girl propped herself up from the cot, Aleshia saw that she was deep in thought. As she sat up, she declared, "Fine, but I am not apologizing for my preemptive attack!" She said this with a surly tone.

She lifted herself off the bed and plopped down onto the floor, wobbling slightly. When Aleshia noticed this, she instinctively moved to help her, but paused when she saw a faint glow of mana surrounding the girl. This type of glow was the usual indicator that someone had cast a support spell on themselves. It was apparent that it was helping her to walk toward Aleshia with ease.

When the girl was within arm's reach, she asked, "Why are you holding your witch hat? Is it supposed to be your wand or something? It must be something fierce, given all the mana and sol energy radiating from it. I would even hazard a guess that thing could move on its own."

As if to prove the girl's point, Lucia twitched slightly. The movement didn't escape the girl's notice, and she immediately shouted, "Hey, that thing moved, didn't it!?" She quickly backed away faster than Aleshia could approach, her hackles raised and her guard up.

Aleshia tilted her head, pretending she didn't see anything. "Huh? What do you mean it moved? It probably just folded in on itself because of its own weight. I'm not even holding it very well, so it's bound to shift a bit. I think you're just being a skittish scaredy-cat," she said, while taunting the girl, trying to find some amusement in her tiredness.

The girl shuddered, insulted by being called a scaredy cat. She proclaimed, "I'll have you know I was one of the frontline mages here! So I am not a scaredy cat!" Despite her bold words, she snuck glances at the witch hat still in Aleshia's hands, as if it were demonic and out to get her.

"Alright then, I guess you won't mind me walking right up to you," Aleshia said as she approached the girl, adding teasingly, "By the way, I've shared my name, so would you be so courteous as to tell me yours?" With that, she held out her witch hat.

The girl continued shuddering as Aleshia approached he and finally revealed her name in a rushed manner. "Fine, but don't come any closer than that, do you hear?" Aleshia stopped as requested and waited for the girl to share her name. The girl struck a pose and, with great pride, announced while conjuring vibrant colors with her mana, "My name is Fayre."
