Chapter 254 - Nostalgia

Chapter 254 Nostalgia

Aleshia watched the display with a hint of irritation and retaliated by mispronouncing the name. "So your name is Fare, then? Like the fare you need to pay to enter a city?"

The girl looked shocked and angry at what she could only take as an insult. "No, it is most definitely not 'Fare.' Did you not hear how I pronounced it, or are you just not smart?"

Aleshia caught that the girl's name seemed to be a sore spot for her, believing it might have become a running joke among the other cursed whenever they were awake. It was clear that Fayre was particularly sensitive about it.

"Do you want me to repeat my name? It is Fay-ry. Not fare, fair, fae, or fairy, or any other variations, alright? Now get it right, okay?" Fayre seemed really upset about her name.

"Fayre," Aleshia said slowly. Fayre appeared at peace now that Aleshia had pronounced her name correctly.

"Now that I've handled that issue early on, are the rest of us alright?" Fayre asked, her face distraught as she looked at the others, who were breathing heavily and looked sickly. "I remember being cruelly tortured and hearing that we were being poisoned and cursed with something."

Aleshia turned to Fayre, wanting to provide an answer. "What you heard was likely correct. However, I've been working on a cure that has succeeded in waking those I've treated from their curses, like you are right now, so it shouldn't be a problem in the future," Aleshia explained. "If you look at those two over there, they seem to be doing better than the rest, right? I'm feeling a bit exhausted, so I'm going to get some sleep. I'll see you later."

As Aleshia moved towards the door to leave, Fayre stopped her. "Hey, where are you going? I want to follow you, and you have no choice in the matter," Fayre said hotly.

Aleshia nodded, inviting Fayre to join her as she led her around the camp. Fayre surveyed her surroundings, her expression revealing a blend of nostalgia and confusion as she noticed how the camp seemed to have barely changed. She murmured, "Daniel really was able to keep this place running."

"Yep, he did. Though I helped a bit on that," Aleshia added, trailing behind Fayre, who was already ahead of her. Fayre turned back, surprised by her proclamation, but soon her expression shifted to understanding as she looked at Aleshia's witch hat. "That makes sense," Fayre said thoughtfully. "You have a lot of mana and sol at your disposal, so it's no wonder you were able to construct walls and repair this place."
