After sitting on the bed and thinking for a while, Chu Feng finally picked up his phone and dialed James's number.
"Chu, do you need a ride?" James, who was at the airport bored and waiting for a client, answered Chu Feng's call with a happy laugh.
"No, James. I'm calling to ask if you need a side job to make some extra cash."
"Of course, I do, Chu! Do you have a good job to recommend to me?" James, on the other end of the phone, was clearly very interested when he heard about a job that could make him some extra money.
"James, I've found a spot for my exorcism studio, and what I need now are clients—you know what I mean!"
James's eyes lit up on the other end of the phone. An exorcist's intermediary... this could be a lucrative job!
"Absolutely, Chu! You can totally count on the connections of a New York taxi driver!"
"Okay, your commission for each job will be five percent. I'll send you my rate card later."
"No problem, BOSS."
「...」
After hanging up the phone, Chu Feng lay back heavily on the bed. Now, finally, things are on the right track!
Sleep overcame a drowsy Chu Feng just like that. He slept straight through until two in the afternoon.
Chu Feng was awoken by an email notification from his computer. Pulling himself together, he picked up the computer beside him and opened his inbox.
"Another email from John? He's still willing to pay ten thousand dollars?" Chu Feng, suddenly very interested, immediately took out his phone and called the other party.
After a patient conversation, Chu Feng hung up, decisively picked up his car keys, and left. Anyway, I have nothing else planned for the afternoon, and even a mosquito leg is meat!
An hour or so of driving later, he even had a "warm greeting" with a few Black guys, pulling out his long-unused M17 pistol.
Outside a typical middle-class two-story house in Queens, Chu Feng got out of the car, somewhat puzzled.
"John, I've arrived. Where are you?" Not seeing anyone, Chu Feng had no choice but to take out his phone and make another call.
After a while, a middle-aged white man finally came out of the house.
"Hello, Exorcist. I'm really sorry for the delay; something came up."
Chu Feng, who was already growing impatient, saw the man's seemingly good attitude and decided not to snap at him immediately.
"Is this house the one with the problem?" Having no patience for small talk, Chu Feng gestured with his hand and got straight to the point.
"Yes, that's right! It's this house."
"Then follow me!"
No sooner had he spoken than a mini Array Plate appeared in Chu Feng's hand. With a toss into the air, and a thought from Chu Feng, John's house became enveloped in the Four Symbols Spirit Trapping Formation.
John, having not awakened any Spiritual Power, naturally couldn't see any of this. Though he didn't understand Chu Feng's actions, his eyes shifted, and he immediately followed.
Guided by the Spirit-Seeking Compass, Chu Feng quickly located the Bound Spirit.
After sealing the doorway with fine salt, he waited on the spot for John to catch up.
"Mr. Exorcist, what are you doing?" the tardy John asked, looking somewhat puzzled at Chu Feng and the fine salt on the ground outside the second-floor bedroom.
"It's nothing. Just come inside with me."
Having ushered John into the bedroom, Chu Feng scattered a handful of fine salt, and an ethereal white figure immediately appeared.
"Take a look. This is the culprit behind the strange incidents in your home these past few days." A faint golden light emanated from Chu Feng's hand as he dragged the Bound Spirit in front of John.
"No! Get it away! Take it away! Stay away from me!" John, scared out of his wits, stumbled backward until he collapsed onto the floor by the doorway.
"Since you don't want to look, then I'll just deal with it for you!" After indulging his mischievous streak, Chu Feng shrugged. He then had the system use its soul preservation function, collecting the already powerless Bound Spirit.
"Alright, the matter is taken care of! Now, where is my payment?" Dusting off non-existent dust from his hands, Chu Feng turned to John, who was trying to sneak away.
"I-I'll go get it for you right now! Just wait here for a moment!" John stammered, then ran downstairs in a fluster.
Watching John's hasty retreat, Chu Feng's gaze sharpened, a hint of cold light flashing in his pupils. I'm quite curious to see what trick you're planning to play.
Chu Feng slowly made his way down to the first floor as well.
"Heh, what's the meaning of this? The job is done, and you don't want to pay?" Chu Feng's expression was somewhat amused as he looked at John, who was now aiming a shotgun at him.
"Get out of my house, you damn yellow monkey! You want my money? Not a chance!" John, his true colors now fully revealed, dropped all pretense and cursed at Chu Feng.
"You're the first person I've met who dares to do this." Hearing the insults, Chu Feng let out a laugh that was more of a scoff. A golden light flashed across his body, and in an instant, he appeared beside John.
BANG!
Startled, John fired the shotgun, but the expected outcome didn't occur.
"How is this possible?" John stared at Chu Feng's chest in utter terror.
The countless small lead pellets fired from the shotgun were firmly blocked by a thin layer of golden light at Chu Feng's chest.
"What's so impossible about it?" Sneering, Chu Feng reached out and snatched the shotgun from John's hand. With a twist of his arms, he bent the perfectly good weapon in two.
"Now, I'll ask you again: where's my money?" Chu Feng grabbed the scoundrel's collar and slapped his face forcefully more than a dozen times.
"I-I'll get it for you right away!" John, his cheeks now bright red, didn't dare to resist. Under Chu Feng's control, John returned to his bedroom. He took out a stack of US dollars from a small safe and handed it to Chu Feng.
"Wouldn't it have been better to do this from the start?" Chu Feng took the stack of US dollars, threw the man to the floor, and headed for the door.
"Oh, right. Here's a parting gift for you." Reaching the door, Chu Feng had a thought, and the Bound Spirit that the system had collected was released again.
The Bound Spirit, upon seeing its old home again and then Chu Feng's figure, suppressed the violent urges in its heart and instantly vanished from John's sight.
Casually storing the Four Symbols Spirit Trapping Formation into his Storage Space, Chu Feng walked away, ignoring the sounds of chaos erupting from John's house. Hopefully, this Bound Spirit won't transform into an Evil Spirit ahead of time because of today's incident. Amen!
By the time Chu Feng returned to his villa, it was already past five in the afternoon. After dinner, he lay on his large bed, pondering the afternoon's events.
This John had indeed served as a wake-up call for Chu Feng. It seems that in the future, once my fame grows, I'll need to charge upfront. Otherwise, if I encounter this kind of situation again, I'm afraid I won't be able to restrain myself from going on a killing spree.
