The next morning, Delilah woke up early and she roused Hunter from sleep so they could have an early start since it was going to be a busy day.
After freshening up she put on a soft yellow dress. Hunter on the other hand looked handsome in his dark jeans and a pale shirt.
When she turned to him after she was doing with her hair and mild makeup, he gave her a wide smile. "You look like dessert," he said, and she laughed out loud.
"Dessert? What does that even mean?" She asked laughing.
"A sweet dish," he said with a grin, "Ready?" he asked.
Still laughing, she nodded. "Ready."
They drove to the orphanage together. It was still quiet when they got there. A few children were playing in the yard, their voices soft in the morning air. Mrs. Jenkins was standing by the doorway, her face tired.
"Good morning," Delilah said gently.
