Chapter 30 - Pope

Chapter 30

He was mid air. Red fog like mana dancing around him like blood. The shattered glass raining down. Shiny pieces falling around him. A mystical scene.

Lugh landed. Panting breaths. Tired— But Not breaking. Injured—But not dying.

Unbreakable eternal mirror prison which seemed like impossible to break. Was no more. Its broken glass raining down as glitter.

Lisa's gaze was tied to the mirror rainfall. She was shocked. But fear was there. So was guilt.

Merlin was dumbfounded. How can a weakened and injured man be capable of such a feat.

Sreya Wasn't focused on the rainfall. Neither was she amazed by rainfall. Nor his unexplainable feat.

The Only thing on her mind. The only thing in front of her eye's were his injured body. Exhausted physique. Panting breaths. His will to perform mythical feats to protect others.

Amidst it Riley looked. Amazed but composed. As if he had predicted this. A mirror piece fell in front of his eyes. For a moment. An eye of a man was reflected. The shard broke. His expression got pale. His eyes–wide. His teeth gritting. As if he knew the man,

Riley looked at lugh catching his breaths. His eyes brewing with fear. He thought.

[ if what i just saw was his fear reflected in the mirror. We survived by a string of fate....

How naive was i to think that he didn't feel fear.

Me! His friend of all people thought he was a emotionless monster?

How could I have forgotten his humanity !?.

Even if one of that man had manifested. Us five would have seen the doomsday]

A earthquake was felt. It wasn't the floor—but the whole dungeon. He knew. He stood up and walked over. Said "This Dungeon's defence mechanism has been activated it seems. ITS GONNA BURRY ITSELF UNDERGROUND"

Riley

"WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE FAST!"

Lugh replied. Calm " sreya, do you know any sttong shield magic capable of protecting us while we are moving"

Sreya replied. Perplexed. "There is one?!"

Lugh "Nice"

Near the coast of the tear lake. Inside of which the lair of Cronus was located.

Headmaster along with some professor's and the other groups were standing.

Headmaster asked prof jessa, worried.

"Has it really been a week since Group 6 went inside the Dungeon?"

Prof jessa replied. Visibly concerned

"Yes, all the other groups returned in three days. But only the group 6 hasn't returned"

Hearing jessa. Professor Jones said. Smiling slightly. Unnoticed.

" if even a S rank party couldn't Clear Cronus's Lair—we might need the guild to reconsider its rank"

Headmaster clearly not amused by Jones behavior said, serious, frowning eyes.

"I think you've mistaken professor. That is not a S-rank party"

Confused by the headmaster. Jones asked

"What do you mean sir."

Headmaster continued

"For a party to be considered an S-rank. It nust have five A-ranks or two S-ranks in it. The party Riley Kerma is leading has four S- ranks and one High-A rank— which makes this party An SS-Rank party."

"WHAT !" Jones's face frowned in shock. other's were thunderstruck. Groups 1 to 5 students were terrified at this revelation

Headmaster in a frim tone continued.

"Lugh on the other hand is a special case. Thought the majority of guildmasters gave him S-rank. There was guildmaster Todd. Who was firm set on getting lugh SS-Rank"

Prof jessa exclaimed, visibly shocked " are you serious, sir "

"Yes---–"

A voice interupts them. It was the voice of someone incredibly powerful. Dressed in a white Gown with golden embroidery. His face comanded unparalleled beauty. His eyes reflecting one's soul. His golden hair glistening.

All were enchanted–but not the headmaster as he asked

"Oh my..... what do we have here.. if it isn't the famous Pope Anacard of the Seven popes"

The crowd was visible confused – shocked. They remained unbelieving.

"Oh my god. He is the real pope anacard"

"He is so handsome"

"He is so elegant "

Such were the whispers of the crowd.

Cutting through the crowds confusion–the pope spoke. Smiling

"What might be the headmaster of einvalla be doing in a place like this with such a crowd"

Headmaster replied. Serious

"Some of my students are stuck down there in the Dungeon"

"Dungeon... lair of Cronus?..... is it the wrong judgement of einvalla that the students are stuck there. I mean we both know how dangerous is that Dungeon....isn't that right. Headmaster"

Said the pope. His gaze sharpened at headmaster. Smiling.

Prof Jones goes near headmaster and Whispered. "Sir. Why is he here?"

Headmaster replied

"That group you see behind the pope. That group will be batling us in the Einvall cup"

"Wait. What !" Prof Jones was visibly thunderstruck.

The pope giggled before saying.

"Why are your instructor's so uninformed "

Ignoring Anacards taunts. Headmaster asked. serious. A hint of anger.

"Tell me pope. That man. He is the Hero isn't he"

The Headmaster's eyes locked on a man standing just behind the Pope.

Grass-green hair with a soft blue hue…His purple eyes glaring–as if looking at his rivals-enemies.

"Yes.. he will be representing sanctuary in the einvalla cup"

Said the pope in amusement

The crowd gasped.

Prof Jones angered.

Prof jessa turned pale.

"Wha!..... No way.. you want a frickin hero to fight against a normal human. Thats unfair"

Shouted professor Jones

Anacard. Smiling sarcastically.

"Unfair?... how?.. Roinvalla has been winning previous cups. This time i brought a hero and you guys chicken out"

Jones. Gritting his teeth.

"Its a HERO! we are talking about. He poesses the Hero's Core. It is said that a human can never defeat –one with the Hero's Core"

Anacard. Frowning.

"But I had prior permission from your headmaster—he seemed quite confident"

Professor Jessa looked at headmaster in disbelief.

Professor Jones went in deep thoughts. Wrinkles forming on his forehead.

[ headmaster must've accepted because we had exceptional talents this year. There is lugh as well. No wonder he gave permission]

Anacard

"Did something happen to your ace or something. Perhaps, trapped inside of the Dungeon"

Anacard's question left everyone speechless

"Ah! So I was right"

Anacard upon realization. Chuckled elegantly. Corners of his mouth curved in mockery. His laugh looming over their tense silence.

His cryptic laugh gets interupted by a earthquake. A quake so unique—that it took the attention toward's the lake—water of it flowed irregularly. Followed by the accendence of a massive water pillar.

Pillar so long–that it seemed to touch even the sky. Many were shocked. Many were confused. Some were terrified—as they looked blankly at the pillar.
