Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 - Disappointment

Baldwin's Mansion

Is this some kind of joke?

Life feels like a joke right now.

Earlier today, Ana had contacted Savannah to let her know that another broker would text her soon. So, she left the house to go to the mansion, and now she was waiting in the patio for her last hope. Besides moving, she had to arrange a few more things before leaving, and in that regard, she doesn't think she would have much time left.

So, everything must be done fast.

After waiting for a while, she heard some noises coming from the front yard. Peering out the window, she spotted a massive dog in the distance, being led by a man holding onto its leash. The dog's presence caught her attention, and she observed it with curiosity. The dog had a powerful, robust build with a square head and a deep chest. Its facial features were unique and hard to put into words.

And then the dog's eyes locked onto Savannah in the distance. Savannah noticed the dog looking at her, but she felt uneasy. The dog started barking loudly at her, and Savannah, feeling confused, looked around to see if the barking was directed at her. Despite checking, she couldn't shake the feeling that the dog was really focused on her for some reason she couldn't comprehend.

The man holding the leash tried to calm the dog down, but it was no use. Savannah looked at the man's face and realized it was Elijah.

Elijah crouched down to the dog's level and seemed to talk to him. Soon, the dog was under control. Elijah knew how to handle dogs. He left with the man he came with.

With only a few steps taken, Savannah called out, "Elijah," stepping out onto the patio.

"Yes, Ms. Miller?" turning to her Elijah said still holding the leash, "I didn't know this mansion had a dog?" she asked curiously as her eyes looked at the dog below.

"Yes, he is the Boss's favorite pet," Elijah replied. Savannah nodded, deciding it might be best to keep her distance from the dog, even though she had always loved dogs. Right now, though, looking at him made her feel a little uneasy.

Savannah hesitated, unsure of how to phrase her question or if she was asking the right person. "Um... do you perhaps know of any available apartments anywhere?" she asked. She hadn't received any calls or texts from the broker, leaving her no choice but to inquire with Elijah.

"Please say, whatever it is, Ms. Miller," Elijah assured her, sensing her hesitation.

"I don't think I have anything like this in my knowledge." He answered, and Savannah somewhat knew his answer but still tried, "I do have a good idea," he added.

She gestured him to continue, "Why don't you just stay here?" He said

What?

This was an unexpected answer, and she thought he must be joking. She looked at him with a straight face, not giving in. But when she saw his serious expression, she knew he wasn't kidding.

"You've got to be kidding me!" she exclaimed, her eyes falling to the ground.

"Think about it, you visit the mansion every day for Mr. Baldwin, right?" he added, looking at her disappointed face. Savannah looked up and nodded.

"And it takes about 45 minutes to reach the mansion, sometimes you even get late, and it's not good, if you stay here you will find many things convenient for you and only you". He continued, "I'm not saying you should move here forever, but for the time being, as long as you are treating Mr. Baldwin and don't worry our Boss wouldn't mind". he completed.

Savannah's mind began to race, considering all the scenarios and reasons he provided. The idea of having things in her favor for a smooth drive here was certainly appealing, but sometimes it got too late for her to go home, leaving Theo all on his own. Having them stay in the mansion would provide comfort and reassurance for both of them. "Think about it," he said as he walked away, leaving her with questions. Should she move into the mansion?

Sometime Later

Having sat in Mr. Bladwin's room for a few minutes, Savannah wondered of one specific thing. Why hasn't she managed to get a single house for herself?

Minutes ago, she had received a message from the broker saying, he couldn't give the house due to personal reasons. Is this some sort of joke? It seemed that everyone was against her. Every single of them gave Savannah one damned reason, she chuckled in frustration.

Savannah had this weird feeling growing inside about all this. Why they all seem so suspicious? Could there be another reason she doesn't know of? She can't answer, she can't explain.

As she was lost in her own thoughts, the door of the room opened, and she tuned my gaze to the direction, and there was a tall Man standing at the entrance of the room, Blaze standing all tall without moving, he then stepped into the room, and stood in front of Savannah.

He stared at me for a moment, "Savannah," she blink "Yes." It confused her the way he called her name, and made her feel more uneasy since his gaze was intense not in an angry way, but more like concerned.

"Are you okay?" This question confused her. What?

"I'm absolutely fine." She answered still confused. "Why would you ask that?"she questioned.

"I heard Ace barked at you" Ace? Bark?

This made Savananh even more confused, what was he talking about? She thought.

And then her mind clicked, Ace must be that big dog. "Yeah, he just barked, he didn't do anything else."

"How did you know?" she asked

"Elijah told me", he replied. Savannah nodded, Did he really need to do that? "I am sorry Savannah" he apologized making her all confused again.

"Why would you apologize?" she again questioned him, "About what ace did, he must have scared you, he said, "You don't have to Blaze, he's a dog, he's going to do that eventually." She reasoned with him.

"Well he shouldn't have" as he said that, Savannah looked at him, not for what he said but for the tone in which he said it. It was unusual for him to speak in that tone, it was slow, yet dangerous at the same time, and she wondered if Ishewas the only one who heard it?

"Are you sure you're fine?" he again questioned.

"Yes, Blaze, I'm fine." For Savannah it was nice to have someone be concerned about her after such a long time, and coming from a complete stranger it warmed her heart.

"You're on hunt for new place?" She looked at him questioning.

"Elijah told me that you asked him." he replied noticing her confusion "Yeah, my landlady gave me a two-week notice to vacate the house and I haven't been able to find one." She told him some basic things, as they now sat in the living room having a cup of warm tea who's cup looked way too expensive, he had it offered earlier.

"You must know if there is any vacant apartment or house available?" A man living in a huge mansion must know about properties, she thought.

He chuckled lightly before sipping his cup of tea "Savannah, I work for myself in the medical industry, so I'm not sure if I know any." Savannah looked down at her tea in disappointment, all the hope was gone.

"But-"

"Will try to find some information for you." She looked up in hope again.

"Thank you so much Blaze." She thanked him, she will always be grateful to him if he helps her.
