Savannah's House
"Theo, get ready, we're leaving." Savannah called out her son, "Alright mommy," came a reply from another door.
Taking her car keys from the dining table, Savannah walked towards her balcony to check if it's securely locked, only to see that its door was still ajar behind the curtains. Once she done with checking everything, she still saw no sign of Theo, she was about to call him out, that's when he emerged from his bedroom.
Sometime Later
Parking her car, and stepping out, Savannah looked around the provided location, she checked her phone again to be more certain and this was it, she was at the right location. With a sense of relief, she took a moment to appreciate the surroundings before heading to her destination.
"Are you sure we are at the right place?" Theo questioned his mother being a little skeptical."Yes, yes, of course," she replied back, keeping her phone back into her shoulder purse.
Walking a little further Savannah's eyes finally found what she was looking for, the Apartment.
It was her week off and here was Savannah house hunting. Looking for a place for herself and her son.
Savannah as of this moment was desperate in search for a new place to live. TThe urgency was not choice—if she and her son didn't move out soon, they would be forced to leave with nowhere to go. The warning had come in the form of a cryptic text message from an unknown number just the day before. It had shaken her to the core, its words were sharp and final, leaving no choice to her, echoing like a countdown in her mind.
A day ago, she had contacted Anastasia to find them a decent house and she had suggested that she go here. Anastasia had informed her that a broker would be present here, they'll guide her through but she hasn't heard anything from them, nor could they be seen anywhere. It seemed like the broker was undefined, leaving her feeling uncertain about the situation.
Fifteen minutes and Savannah was still waiting for that person to emerge. She dialed Anastasia's number thinking she must know something but to her avail she did not answer her phone leaving Savannah with nothing but growing anger.
Theo who saw his mother looked a little tensed, "What do we do now?" questioned her, Savannah looked at her son, "For now, we go back inside the car." She answered as she took her hand in hers and they walk hand in hand toward their car.
Once they sat back inside, Savannah's mind wasn't at rest, It was too late to waste her weekend just like this, so she takes her phone and started searching for available houses, because if she was here, she is not leaving without doing so, and luckily she found some, reading all the important notes, learning about everything.
Half an Hour Later
Savannah had scheduled an appointment for a house tour earlier on her way. Upon reaching the address, she noticed an old woman standing right outside the building. Savannah had a feeling that this woman must be the one she was supposed to meet.
Stepping out her car along with Theo, Savannah made her toward that old lady, "Mrs. Hales?" She called the name to that old woman, she looked at Savannah.
"Ms. Miller?" the old lady called.
Upon reaching their desired floor, Mrs. Hales kindly explained all the necessary features of the apartment. "Let me open the door for you," she said as they approached the apartment, holding it ajar.
Once inside, Savannah took in the whole apartment with a quick glance. It was definitely more spacious than her current place, and it was much more appealing to her aesthetic. The all-white, fully furnished home felt like a breath of fresh air. The living room was impressively large, almost like a ballroom, albeit a smaller version, and it offered an equally beautiful view from the balcony.
She then moved into the bedroom, which was much larger than her already, with a queen size bed in the middle and a small wooden bedside table on either side with a wardrobe to keep their clothing.
Savannah was so involved in the house that she didn't notice the undefined presence of Theo. "Theo?" she called him, but he didn't answer. "Theo?" she called again, growing slightly concerned.
She begins her search for her son, who has a habit of being drawn to anything intriguing. True to form, she finds him nestled in a small, snug room surrounded by books. Just like his mother, Theo shares a love for reading, particularly when it comes to science. It's clear that he has found his own little haven in the house.
"Theo, what are you doing here?" Savannah saod as sh walked inside.
"Sorry mommy, I wanted to see them." he looked down as he said.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Hales" Theo apologized, he sure was generously sweet.
"No, it's fine, little one. You didn't do anything wrong to apologize."
"So what do you think about this house?" Mrs. Hales asked after fully giving the home tour.
"I really like it, and for the price, I think it's the best deal I've found so far," she expressed my genuine opinion. "Then shall we sign some paperwork?" Savannah nodded, and I believe it's a great decision.
"No!!!" The voice from the other end echoed in there, capturing all their attention.
They stood aside as a man in his 40s stormed toward them. "What happened Lewis?" Mrs. Hales asked him, but he appeared too furious to answer. "We can't give this apartment to her," he replied, shocking her and causing Savannah to become concerned.
He then turns to Savannah "Sorry Ms. Miller, I apologize for the inconvenience, I hope you understand." He said ever so simply.
"May I know the reason?" Savannah asked, feeling a bit puzzled by the vagueness of the situation. It seemed undefined and unclear, and she couldn't quite grasp the meaning behind it.
"I'm sorry, but this apartment has already been sold to someone else. My apologies for the confusion; my mother wasn't aware of the deal," he said with an uneasy smile.
"I see, we'll take our leave then," Savannah replied as she walks away from their taking Theo, she should have argued but she wasn't the type to do so.
So they walked out with disappointment, Theo was sadder since he really liked that house, but nothing is in their favour.
-5PM
Looking at twenty other houses in a short time was still not enough, as she couldn't find a single place for them. All twenty were either taken or not available for some odd reasons. She had lost all hope, now she doesn't know if she'll find a place to move into."Why don't we move in with your two friends, mommy?" Theo suddenly questioned her about something she already knew the answer to.
"We can't, baby. Their houses are too small and we need our own place to live," he nodded. Savannah was so exhausted that she didn't have the energy to do any more searching. She didn't hear anything back from Anastasia either;, she wondered where she is. Anastasia is her last hope.
