If it was for any other reason I may have turned a blind eye but this was nothing less than stepping on my own toes. I wasn't going to get directly involved but that didn't mean I couldn't make things much harder for Jack since he was going after my interests. My idea was simple, mass ascension. I'd go and ascend a lot of the league all at once to make killing them not so easy anymore. Unlike with Brick or any of my other friends I didn't need to worry about turning the leaguers into monsters as they were bandits and might actually prefer it.-
Bandit aesthetics were raw and primal for the most part with everything except strength and reputation ignored. How they obtained these things they didn't care, only that they did. I cleared a few days from my schedule before using my house to go to Baal 3 and Eden 6 to collect the traits I'd need for these ascensions. [Tough skin], [strong bone], [predator muscles] the works in numbers. I almost bankrupted myself of lifeforce in my mass collection of traits even.-
I took a small break to find the nearest asteroid field and devour it's contents hungrily. It was slow at first but the more lifeforce I got the faster I got as my refinement speed was powered by the stuff. Once I wiped out a small area of asteroids and sat at a pleasant 4,829,117 lifeforce I headed for Pandora. Things were bleak to say the least when I arrived on the dusty planet. Fyrestone itself had been taken over by Hyperion with a series of roads and suspicious pipes build right over the town. -
Said pipes had a VERY familia hum to them that I pinged as Eridium in an instant. I wasn't here to rob Hyperion of it's Eridium and reluctantly ignored that juicy flow of potential lifeforce. What really annoyed me however was that Fyrestone was empty, abandoned by force. The place was stacked with trash while the buildings were left intact, no doubt intentionally by Jack to mock my friends. I had specifically made sure this place was safe before I left but clearly that wasn't enough. I flexed my shoulders and my wings thrummed before I shot up into the air and across the sky rapidly.-
I scanned the sands and rock below me for signs of the league but besides ruined tents and skin flags that were clearly long abandoned I saw nothing. I kept flying to the Dahl headlands which were entirely abandoned and covered with the pipes pumping liquified Eridium hoping to spot something. Clearly someone noticed my fly over as before I noticed it a missile shot through the air and smashed into me bringing my movement to a halt with a violent fiery explosion. I swung my arm to clear the smoke and scanned the area with a snarl to find the culprit.-
Soon enough my eyes narrowed on a man in a bright yellow set of armor with a large white H on it holding a smoking rocket launcher. I phase walked right in front of him and ripped the launcher out of his hands and proceeded to beat him to death with it like it was a fucking club. I was already in a poor mood after Fyrestone and this fucker thought trying to blow me up was a good idea, he was wrong. I didn't even bother taking his lifeforce before leaving the mushed up body for the Skags I saw nearby.-
Taking to the air again I continued my search for the league as I followed a route that would eventually lead me to Sanctuary. I reached what used to be New Haven soon enough and there wasn't even a trace of the place left. All the rubble had been flattened and a road had been built right where the town once stood. It was still a dusty shithole though as the cleared away trash had left a lot of sand and dust that was choking the air constantly. I found my first recent sign of the league near there as I found a single camp that had a fire recently put out at the center. -
'Must have been a scouting party or stranglers separated from the lot.' I thought seriously as I examined the camps remains to see if I could figure out where they went.
Soon enough I got a north western heading and shot into the air to chase that direction. I heard my target before I saw them as the sounds of gunfire and metallic impacts rang through the air ahead of me. The source of this sound was a group of three midgets from the league trying to fend off close to thirty robots.-
I dived down towards the bots and unleashed a wave of destruction energy as I slammed into the group. Instantly seven of the bots were erased from existence and I didn't hesitation to phase lock the rest before gravity crushing them.
"Not even a decent warm up." I said with a scoff as I approached the three midgets that were staring at me with fervent worship. "I'm looking for Vater." I said calmly to them.
"The dust great god demon! He is in the dust!" one of them said loudly.
"The dust? That place with the Hodunks?" I asked and the midgets nodded. "Why were there so many bots after you anyways?" I asked curiously.
"Hyperion scums been trying to wipe out your faithful sir!" a different midget said angrily.
I nodded "I knew that much but I didn't think they'd send so much force even after a mere group of three. Still i'm here to even the odds a bit anyways, i'll start with you three." I said casually before grabbing two of them and stuffing traits and some lifeforce into them.
They screamed as their bodies warped and changed to fit their newly acquired traits and they finally became large heavily muscled and thick skinned hulks. I did the last one as well while I waited for the first two to figure out their new forms. Once all three of them could walk roughly I phase locked them and took to the sky again with my heading picked.
