Shortly after the Minister of Civil Affairs left, Eman's voice came from outside the door: "Your Highness, Archbishop Talleyrand is here."
Joseph nodded: "Please let him in."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs limped to him, quickly bowed, and said: "Your Highness, just now someone from Russia came to establish contact, conveying a desire for a ceasefire."
France and Russia are still in a declared state of war, but there have been no actual engagements. Russia evidently understood that Poland was backed by France and, faced with the immense pressure of fighting on two fronts, sought to influence Poland through France.
Joseph smiled: "Hmm, this is indeed an opportunity."
