-----

Seth raised his head in surprise because, in his 'memory,' this town has always been peaceful.

Even during the peak holiday season, when a large number of tourists flood in, and conflicts with the residents increase, there have never been any deaths.

But now, there had been a bloody incident, and two more followed.

What exactly is happening?

Facing Seth's question, the young servant with a darker complexion shook his head.

"I don't know much. I only know that the first incident happened at No. 89 Qingyu Road. A mother and son were tragically killed in their house. I heard they were bitten to death by wild dogs, but the exact reason is probably only known to the police."

"The second incident occurred at the 'Blue Fish Hotel' last night. I don't know the details either. All I know is that these cases will affect the reputation of our town and may also influence tourists' choices during the peak holiday season."

Seth nodded in agreement, thinking of the police chief who rushed to his door last night. Perhaps this was why Chief Kaosi talked with his father until late at night.

After feeding the pigeons, Seth patted his clothes and stood up.

"Let's go."

Matthew asked, "Do you want to call a carriage?"

"No, it's too early to go back now. I want to take a walk."

Seth handed his stick to his right hand, adjusted his top hat, and walked out of the square.

A figure suddenly ran out in an alley near the square and bumped into Seth's leg.

Seth looked down to see an eight—or nine-year-old girl wearing a dirty dress, rough hair, and a runny nose. She was carrying a basket containing oranges and apples, which she would likely sell on the street. Now, the fruits were scattered everywhere.

"Sorry, sorry," the little girl hurriedly got up, took out a handkerchief, and tried to wipe the dirt off Seth's trousers.

Matthew quickly stopped her.

The little girl raised her head pitifully and looked at the young man in front of her, who had black tousled hair, dark blue eyes, and slightly fair skin.

"I'm sorry, sir. Karina didn't do it on purpose."

She suddenly noticed a tear-like scar under the corner of Seth's left eye and froze momentarily. Then, she looked like she was about to cry.

"Master Seth?"

It seems I am indeed a celebrity in the town if I can scare a child to tears, Seth thought rather helplessly.

Karina was so frightened that she sat down on the ground, at a loss for what to do. She often mentioned Seth's lousy name to her family and frequently heard her family describe the baron's son's appearance. So, when she saw the iconic tear scar, she immediately knew who she had bumped into.

The little girl began to imagine that she would be severely beaten next and her family would be driven out of Enqi Town because of her involvement.

At this moment, she saw that Seth leaned toward her with a cane.

Karina was so scared that she hugged her head with her hands, hoping Seth would be gentle. But she found the cane hooked up the basket and placed it at her feet.

"Pick up the fruit," the young devil's voice was indifferent and tough, making people dare not disobey him.

Karina picked up the fruit with trembling little hands, her mind blank, not knowing how this terrible man would punish her.

She saw Seth bend down, pick up an apple, wipe it on his sleeve, and take a bite. Then he told the male servant next to him, "Take them away."

Karina breathed a sigh of relief. She took away a piece of fruit, a much lighter punishment than expected.

Later, she found that Seth did not take his eyes off her and still looked at her with a terrifying gaze.

"You haven't said how much they cost."

When the devil master uttered these words, the little girl didn't react until the servant beside her reminded her again. Then she humbly said, "Five pence, sir."

Seth stuffed a 1-pound note from his wallet into Karina's hand.

"I don't have such a small denomination of money," he said.

Standing up again, he walked forward without stopping. He heard the cheering from the girl behind him and smiled slightly.

I am suffering from not knowing where to start to change my reputation. As a result, Seth believed the opportunity came to him by itself with the help of this small tool—cough, little girl.

Through this little girl, the town will get the signal that 'the Son of the Baron is changing.' Of course, this alone is not enough, but it is already a good start.

But at this moment, he suddenly heard a scream from the alley behind him.

"Karina!"

Seth's expression changed. He turned around, passed the servant, and rushed towards the alley.

When Matthew heard his young master passing by, he said something like, "My tool man can't have an accident," which puzzled him a little. But he still threw the fruit basket on the side of the road and chased after him.

Seth had already rushed into the crooked, narrow, and dark alley. He soon saw Karina. The little girl was sitting on the ground as if greatly frightened. Suddenly, she turned around and crawled towards him.

At this time, behind Karina, a group of black shadows rushed over. With that movement and posture, it looked not like a human being but like a hungry wild dog!

Seth didn't overthink and stepped forward with a sliding step, using the stick as a weapon, and swept forward. He could already imagine that the cane would sweep away the black shadow, but the opponent was extremely alert. The black shadow stopped in time, leaped back inhumanly, and fell into a darker corner of the alley.

At this time, Seth smelled an indescribable peculiar smell, which seemed to contain the smell of blood and the stench of excrement mixed into a nasty odor that made people want to vomit.

He also saw a leg protruding from behind the wooden boxes in front. Under that leg, blood flowed quietly, and an eyeball still attached to a nerve floated out of the blood.

Seth's mind went blank for a moment.

This is the third murder case?

It's only been a day, and someone died?

I just came home, and I ran into it twice, and this time, the murderer was right in front of me. It seems that the goddess has abandoned me.

Footsteps sounded, followed by Matthew's exclamation, "Master Seth, this is..."

Seth calmed down, pointed his cane to the front, pointed at the shadow in the corner, and shouted, "Matthew, please inform the police that a murder has occurred here, and the murderer is here!"

He hoped to frighten the murderer away with words.

The amount of bleeding from the corpse behind the wooden box, as well as the organs floating in the blood, all spoke of the murderer's brutality.

Just like those lunatics on the Alfalfa!

At this time, he heard a strange sound from the shadows ahead.

"Ho, ho, ho."

It sounded like panting and like the roar suppressed in the throat of a beast, whole of threats, making one's scalp tingle.

Fortunately, the black shadow gradually receded, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps, and went away.

That thing is gone.

As soon as Seth breathed a sigh of relief, he heard voices coming from the alley. He turned and saw the old lady who had spoken in the square before and several workers walking in.

They saw the feet behind the wooden box, the eyeball floating in the blood, and Seth, who was on high alert. The old lady named Paris suddenly screamed, "Killed!"

Every wrinkle of hers trembled, and the cloudy eyeballs with gray and white luster faintly flashed a strange excitement. She stretched out her fingers like chicken feet and pointed at Seth.

"It's him! The son of the baron, he killed someone!"
