Slowly, the woman looked up.
She saw a hand stretched towards her, and the man whose hand this belonged to was smiling at her, a smile that seemed angelic—capable of soothing the soul. "Who are you, mister? Are you the one who summoned my family?"
"Yes," the man nodded. "My heart is pained for your loss, but you're safe now if you take my hand."
Hearing this, the woman's glassy eyes widened.
At his words, the tragedy that befell her brothers was replayed in her mind, causing her to flinch.
But eventually, as there was no other choice, she accepted the man's hand.
She stood up in the carriage with the support of the man.
"I'll take you somewhere safe," the man whispered before glancing over his shoulder. "John."
"Yes, Your Holiness…" the middle-aged man from before appeared out of a drop of blood.
