Chapter 27 - The Dream She Holds

She is only a young girl, learning the world,

Trying her hardest just to fit in it and the society, of course,

Doing all she can just to be seen,

Chasing the dream to be the best,

But she doesn't see that she doesn't have to be the best,

And that it's just a stupid standard this society had made,

She worries more about society's words than her own peace,

And no matter how hard she tries, it's never enough for them,

She wants to quit but she knows she can not,

It breaks her apart but what can she do?, after all she is just a teenage girl.

They say, 'Wear this, not that',

'Don't be too loud',

Or 'you should lose/ gain some weight',

' don't sit like that, it's not how girls sit',

' dress like a girl and not a boy'

' shave your body'

' eat less '

And all the other noises,

They don't even let her be herself,

She feels their hands on her life, but her voice stays quiet,

Can't a girl choose herself what she wants?

She fights the world she lives in, but can't leave it behind,

She dreams of freedom, the way boys know it,

But she gives up trying to search for it.

The boys call her weak, blind to the battles she fights inside,

Little did they see how strong she truly is,

Six days of blood and ache she carries in silence,

She shows up to work, silent, because who would listen anyway?

Don't think the boys can do that,

Getting judged by the society 24/7,

Trying to prove her worth just to survive in this world she hates,

She carries a life for nine months, and a love for a lifetime,

She hides her pain behind a quiet smile,

Can the boys do that?

Leaving her family for someone else's,

Can the boys do that?

Having to live under the pressure of this society's comments and sharp words,

Can the boys do that?

She always thinks how disappointing the women from past may feel,

To know what girls still have to fight for their rights,

And struggle to prove their worth,

She is tired of it all , this world and its weight,

She dreams of a better world, yet it stays the same,

She has no choice but to survive in this cruel world,

She will always seek for freedom behind the bars of this cage,

And she hopes,

That one day, this might eall nd and girls won't have to prove their worth to be respected,

And can finally be free like a bird in the sky full of sparkling stars,

Live their own life,

With their own rights.
