Chapter 403 - Chapter 403 - The Ōtsutsuki on the Moon

My name is Toneri Ōtsutsuki, a descendant of Hamura Ōtsutsuki. A thousand years ago, our clan chose to live on the moon.

The duty of the Ōtsutsuki lineage on the moon is to oversee everything that happens on Earth.

Through a millennium of observation, we have concluded that the world created by the Sage of Six Paths has been in a constant state of conflict—it is, without a doubt, a failed creation. And a failed creation must be destroyed.

Especially over the past two years, the chaos below has even begun to affect the moon where I reside.

Thus, I, Toneri Ōtsutsuki, have decided to carry out the will of my ancestor and destroy the failed world the Sage of Six Paths created.

How best to destroy the Earth was a question. After some thought, I decided that the simplest method would be to drop a massive meteor onto the planet.

However, before the destruction begins, I looked down upon the Earth with my empty eye sockets. I should first bring to my side the white-eyed girl I've watched since childhood, the one who would be my bride.

After all, I, Toneri Ōtsutsuki, was born without eyes.

Perhaps this was the price of our branch family sacrificing all their Byakugan to create the purple stone marked with the Ōtsutsuki clan crest, a stone that allowed us to exterminate the main family on the moon, who had upheld ideals of peace.

From that moment until now, fewer and fewer descendants of the branch family have been born. And as of this moment, I am the only surviving member of the Ōtsutsuki clan on the moon.

He sighed, but this wasn't a problem.

Once he married the white-eyed girl, they could enter suspended animation together. After the Earth was destroyed, he would use the Tenseigan to restore the environment.

Then, he and the white-eyed girl would become the new progenitors of humanity, together creating a perfect world of peace.

Originally, Toneri wanted to personally bring the girl to the moon, she was to be his bride.

Unfortunately… being blind made such actions difficult.

"It seems I'll have to send the Ōtsutsuki puppets again," Toneri murmured. And behind him, dozens of figures appeared—lifeless, just as he said. These were puppets.

Toneri didn't believe any of the Earth's blood-diluted branch descendants could stand against these puppets. Even if they possessed pure Byakugan, without sufficiently strong Ōtsutsuki blood, they couldn't draw out the eye's true power.

Confident, Toneri dispatched the puppets toward Earth through a passage he had created by bringing the moon closer to the planet.

They arrived on Earth at night.

Soon, they located a member with sufficiently high Byakugan purity, apparently the head of the clan. After a battle, the puppets severely injured the man, but he still managed to escape with heavy wounds.

At that moment, Toneri's hologram stood still, watching the retreating Hyūga Hiashi with a look of scorn.

So this is the leader of Earth's Hyūga? How weak.

Still, Hiashi was supposed to represent one of the strongest individuals in this world.

Such feeble humans, endlessly trapped in conflict... The Sage of Six Paths was clearly wrong. This world must be destroyed!

Then, Toneri sensed a bright, gem-like purity of Byakugan elsewhere. Joyfully, he redirected his puppets toward that direction.

Surely, that would be the girl he had dreamed of since childhood.

Until...

Through his puppets' eyes, Toneri saw the white-eyed girl he had long yearned for… standing beside a blond-haired boy.

At that moment, Naruto was trying to comfort Hinata. Her father had gone missing, and there were still no leads. It was clear someone was after the Hyūga Byakugan.

Naruto was deeply troubled, but all he could do was reassure Hinata with gentle words.

Suddenly, Naruto paused and looked outside, into the sky, where Toneri's figure hovered. From him, Naruto sensed a faint trace of danger.

It surprised him. At this point in time, Naruto knew that only Sasuke could rival his strength, and only Natsuro could truly overpower him.

So for someone to appear now who could make him feel even a slight threat was highly unusual.

Something in Naruto's gut told him this stranger was likely connected to Hiashi's disappearance.

"Who are you?!" Naruto demanded, entering a combat stance.

Toneri's illusion gazed at Naruto and Hinata with sightless eyes. Ignoring Naruto completely, he focused on Hinata and said:

"The world is about to end. I've come to take you, Princess of the Byakugan, Hinata."

"What the hell are you talking about?! End of the world? Tell me, is Hyūga Hiashi's disappearance your doing?!" Naruto shouted angrily.

Hinata also raised her guard upon hearing this.

"Heh…" Toneri chuckled. Then, in an instant, the Ōtsutsuki puppets beside him surged forward, aiming to seize Hinata by force.

"Hmph!" Naruto snorted and dashed out. Within moments, he shattered all the puppets with ease. These days, he could casually unleash Wind Style: Rasenshuriken.

Toneri was slightly taken aback. This young man was significantly stronger than the Earth's Hyūga clan leader.

But it no longer mattered. Toneri simply pointed to the sky.

Naruto looked up, and saw a massive meteor descending upon the planet.

"My name is Toneri Ōtsutsuki. Hinata, before the end, I will bring you to the moon," he declared.

With that, his illusion vanished.

Even though he had failed to capture Hinata, Toneri considered the mission a partial success. Another puppet unit had already captured a different girl with high Byakugan purity.

And once he transplanted her eyes, he would have the power to defeat even someone as strong as Naruto. Then, he could return and take Hinata away.

Naruto gritted his teeth as he stared at Toneri's vanishing figure… then looked up at the falling meteor.

But he wasn't concerned...

Because…

A figure had already appeared in the sky, it was Sasuke. In an instant, the massive meteor vanished without a trace.

"What happened?" Sasuke arrived beside Naruto, frowning at the shattered puppet remains on the ground.

Naruto quickly explained everything to him.

"Ōtsutsuki?" Sasuke raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah. That's the surname of the Sage of Six Paths. The same Ōtsutsuki that Natsuro mentioned, those aliens who might one day invade Earth," Naruto said grimly. Perhaps this was the beginning of what Natsuro had warned them about.

"Hmm… I wonder if this is related to the moon breaking apart," Sasuke said, furrowing his brow.

"The moon… is breaking apart?!" Naruto widened his eyes.

Sasuke nodded. "Recently, we've observed the moon moving closer. Large sections of it have already started to collapse. At first, we thought it was a natural phenomenon, but now, it seems… not so accidental."

"Come with me, Naruto. Let's go see Natsuro. This is something only he can decide," Sasuke said.

"Alright. Hinata, head home first. I'll find you later," Naruto said gently.

"Mm," Hinata nodded sweetly.

Unlike the original timeline, there hadn't been many twists in their relationship. With Natsuro stealing most of the spotlight, Naruto, though still popular, wasn't as overwhelmingly adored.

As a result, Naruto didn't have hordes of girls chasing him, and Hinata never felt threatened. Their bond had no real conflict to test.

Smiling, Hinata walked back to the Hyūga estate. With Naruto on the case, surely her father would be found and brought back safely…

But when she returned home, she was hit with another devastating piece of news...

Her sister had been kidnapped.

Meanwhile, Naruto and Sasuke soon arrived at a luxurious palace and stepped inside. There, seated before them, was none other than Natsuro, or more accurately…

Natsuro's spiritual shadow clone.

"Hmm? It's been a while since you both came together, what happened?" Natsuro looked at them and asked.

The two then explained everything: the situation on the moon, and how Toneri had tried to abduct Hinata.

"The moon, huh?" Natsuro nodded, and quickly pieced it together, most likely, the one on the moon had finally made his move.

Still, he wasn't particularly interested. Even if Toneri awakened the Tenseigan, so what? He wouldn't even be a match for Six Paths Obito, let alone Six Paths Madara.

And as for the moon falling? That wasn't something to be concerned about. Worst-case scenario, he'd just blow the whole thing up before impact.

This world's moon wasn't like the one from his previous life, it had been created by the Sage of Six Paths and Hamura Ōtsutsuki.

If people missed having a moon in the sky, Natsuro could just make another one. No big deal.

"He's not the Ōtsutsuki I warned you about," Natsuro explained. "The Sage of Six Paths had a younger brother, Hamura. After they sealed Kaguya, Hamura left Earth to live on the moon. The person you encountered is most likely one of Hamura's descendants."

"I see," Sasuke nodded.

"So… what now?" Naruto scratched his head.

Just then, someone else asked for an audience, it was Hinata, who had just returned home.

"What's got you so flustered?" Naruto looked at the panting Hinata and felt a sense of unease.

"Naruto-kun… Hanabi has been kidnapped by that Toneri!" Hinata cried out.

"What?!" Naruto's eyes widened. So Toneri hadn't just targeted them?

Hinata continued, "Our people are already tracking him. We should be able to trace where they went."

"I see…" Naruto turned to Natsuro. He had already made up his mind, he was going to rescue his sister-in-law.

"Don't rush," Natsuro said calmly. "The scouts haven't reported back yet, have they?" He was thinking this over, not because he was interested in Toneri himself, but rather… someone else might benefit from encountering the power of the Tenseigan.

"Naruto, Hinata, go find Neji and Tenten. Neji will be the team leader. The four of you will carry out the mission to rescue Hanabi Hyūga," Natsuro ordered.

"Yes!" Naruto nodded firmly. He didn't mind Neji being the team leader. Over the years, he had come to accept that leadership wasn't really his strong suit. His desire for the spotlight had faded, and Hinata felt a bit more at ease.

With this kind of mission, there was a decent chance of success, and if things did go wrong… Hinata stole a quick glance at Natsuro. With his relationship to Naruto, if it came to it, Natsuro would step in.

And if he stepped in, nothing would be a problem.

Not just Hinata, almost everyone in the world now shared that belief. Natsuro had become more of a myth than a man. It was just that he rarely needed to act anymore.

Sasuke, standing to the side, had no objections either. With Naruto on the team, it would be safe enough. He didn't believe some random Ōtsutsuki descendant could actually be a match for Naruto.

After receiving the mission, the group departed, leaving Sasuke alone.

"You still have something to say to me, don't you?" Natsuro asked, looking at Sasuke.

"Yes, Natsuro… I think it's time. I should be strong enough now," Sasuke replied, the tomoe in his Rinnegan flashing with four glowing marks. Over the past two years, he hadn't let up in his training at all.

"I recall your wedding is coming up soon, isn't it? You and Sakura… Naruto and Hinata…" Natsuro said after doing a quick mental count.

"That's right." Sasuke nodded. He couldn't help but think of Karin, who had caused a stir after hearing about his decision, but ultimately, he had spent more time with Sakura…

"Then go after the wedding. There's no rush," Natsuro said.

Sasuke was silent for a moment, then nodded in agreement.

"In that case, you might as well follow the team on this mission," Natsuro suddenly suggested.

"Huh?" Sasuke was confused.

"That artifact belongs to the Ōtsutsuki clan. To activate it, you'll need genuine Ōtsutsuki chakra, it'll be more convenient," Natsuro explained. It was like a pillow delivered to a dozing man, perfect timing.

Originally, he had planned to simulate Ōtsutsuki chakra to access the artifact, but simulated chakra could be unstable. It would be more reliable to simply extract Toneri's chakra and use that instead.

Sasuke's eyes lit up. He nodded to Natsuro and quickly took off to catch up with the others.

"Heh… they've all grown up," Natsuro muttered to himself as he watched their figures disappear into the distance. In the blink of an eye, they were all getting married. The upcoming weddings would gather most of the Konoha Eleven.

Even those not marrying now would likely tie the knot soon, as if it had all been planned in advance.

Only Natsuro and Ino had married earlier, their engagement had been decided before they even reached adulthood, so they hadn't waited for the others.

At that moment, a small, adorable Umbreon suddenly appeared on Natsuro's desk, blinking its big, enchanting eyes at him...
