Satoru locked eyes with Shinichi, they stared at each other as he came closer to him and sat in the chair in front of him. It is well known that eyes can show a lot of emotions, and if one were to observe both Shinichi and Satoru they would observe the situation is very bad for Satoru.
He held a folder in his hand, which he tossed on the table, allowing Satoru to see the cover. The front had a photo of a man who appeared in his late teens or early twenties. He has a cold look which reflected his years as a anbu ninja.
Below the photo it was mentioned his details such as name, rank and that he was an anbu unit leader. Below it all, it was stamped with red ink that...he had passed away.
"Do you know what is the punishment for killing a konoha citizen for a shinobi Satoru?" Shinichi asked
"W-what are you talking about? WHY AM I HE..." Satoru shouted.
"ANSWER MY FUCKING QUESTION!!!" Shinichi shouted back.
Satoru visibly flinched from hearing that. He had never heard his teacher ever scream at him...not with the intentions he held right now.
The ever stoic man, who was once brainwashed by the root to show nothing, lost all his temper at the boy.
"I-I-I d-don't know."
"Shinobi as a whole are held responsible for the safety of citizens. If anything happens to the ordinary person...a shinobi is responsible. During war time, even enemy ninjas cannot harm ordinary people!
But you...you not only killed someone who is of your homeland, you killed him for fun. Do you have any idea of what that means?" Shinichi explained, his expression reverted back to being emotionless.
"I didn't kill anyone, nobody outside of my missions, I-I swear. You have got to believe me! Why would i have any reason to do that?" Satoru tried to convince the two of them, unsure of what they would do.
Satoru couldn't afford to go to prison or have people cut him open to see why he thinks the way he does, because he was sure that's what will happen he if they let the authorities know.
"Your lies won't work, Satoru. Nor will your acting skills..." Satoru looked at Shinichi confused as to what he meant, his confusion was cleared by Mitsuki.
"We read Lady Tsunade's report on you. The one conducted after your aunt died. You are incapable of feeling empathy, guilt and fear. Which is why your attempt to convince us felt so unnatural." Mitsuki said before placing another file in front of Satoru.
This one had His photo in the front along with all the details. She opened the first page and Satoru was shocked to see what was written below his name.
Name: Satoru ■■■■
Patient has shown the symptoms of the condition known as'Born in Blood' . Several anomalies have been detected in amygdala, prefrontal cortex and hippocampus of patient's brain.
Possibility of psychopathic nature is expected to appear in or after adolescence.
Patient underwent traumatic events as a child and has suppressed violent urges which might awaken through a catalyst or recreation of a past memory.
Caution level: high.
Patient is not fit to be in contact with society and must be kept in isolation till the metioned anomalies are fixed.
Satoeu read it all and couldn't believe himself. He was told that it wasn't as extreme as shown . Danzo told him to just learn to blend in and control those urges by satisfying them by letting them out on people who fit his code.
But being told that he was not fit to be in society...that he is too dangerous and must be kept in isolation.
"Wh-why are y-you showing me this. Are you going to lock me in a cage till I'm fixed? Do I look like a patient to you?" Satoru cried out,
The chance of being kept in a room while doctors cut him open and put him back together, trying to find all the things that was wrong with him, made him break down into tears.
'I'm not ill or crazy or what ever they say I am! I'm just different from these people.' Satoru thought his eyes glanced at the two of them
Mitsuki took out a syringe which had a purple liquid in it. Satoru saw the fluid and remembered, the plant he was watering...it was aconite, a paralytic in small doses but causes one of the most painful deaths in larger doses.
Shinichi stood up to restrain Satoru who out of the blue began resisting and tried to escape out of the chair. Satoru panicked and scared look made Mitsuki hesitate.
Her hands for a small amount of time began to tremble, she didn't want to do this, but she had to...
Mitsuki walked closer and injected the liquid into Satoru, who tried his best to but failed. His tears splashed onto her hand as he jolted his head, she looked at the needle exiting his forearm.
Satoru stopped resisting, he felt his strength drain from his body, but...it wasn't painful. Not in the way aconite was supposed to be.
Shinichi stepped back and observed the boy in front of him, who has lost all energy and was now calmly sitting, almost like he was high.
"Since you lack emotions such as anxiety and fear, your mind cannot respond to the stress your body is going through. It's kind of opposite of congenital insensitivity to pain.
Your heart rate crossed 200bpm and your blood pressure became almost fatal. I think, this is why you passed out when you heard of your aunt's death." Mitsuki said, now even she brought a chair from a different room and sat down.
"It's death sentence or life imprisonment with no parole." Shinichi said, Satoru glanced at him before looking down in shame.
"Back then, I saw that man cut himself while trying to cut his food in anger. He treated the woman he was with like a whore, But, I saw a ring on her hand and on his." Satoru said, looking at the two of them, who responded with silence, prompting him to continue.
"I brought him to an alley and killed him. At first, when I followed him, I told myself I'll turn him to the police or something and get him to confess to abusing the woman." Satoru's lips quivered, he revisited the memory, his darkest action also was the action which brought him the most pleasure.
"When I got close enough and held a weapon in my hand...I stopped thinking with reason. Right and wrong left out of the window. It was just one stab after the other. I...I fantasize about doing it again, but feel disgusted to even try to do it." Satoru confessed, his eyes were closed as he couldn't bear the judgemental stares he probably he is getting from the woman who wanted to adopt him as her son.
Shinichi opened the restrains and let Satoeu free. Satoru traced his fingers on his wrist which were now marked from the pressure applied on them from the rope used.
"Open that file. Tell me what you see in it." Shinichi said, pointing at the file which was there since the beginning.
Satoru slowly reached out and took the file, he opened the file of the deceased shinobi and read it silently.
After a while, Satoru put the file down and observed at the two of them before speaking. "You guys are not going to call the authorities on me, are you?"
"That man you just read about is Kosuke. He was my teammate back when I was about your age. He suffered through what you are suffering from right now. He had uncontrollable urges to hurt people.
He...he used to smile everytime he tortured someone. He enjoyed watching people in pain when he was the one who caused it." Shinichi said, although Kosuke was dear to him, talking about him made him shudder in disgust.
"But, he never harmed people who didn't deserve it. Not a single innocent person was harmed, not a single one."
Satoru listened closely before asking, "then who did he torture?"
"He only hurt those who absolutely deserved it. Felons, traitors, war criminals and...people like him. He made a promise to himself and to me, that if a day comes when an innocent person dies because of him, he would either kill himself or wanted me to kill him." Shinichi said, his voice broke as he said.
"He died. The file shows the cause of death as died in service." Satoru asked, guessing that it wasn't true.
"One day...after the war ended and the number of missions requiring killing reduced. It made it hard for him, he thrived in the war afterall. Eventually his urges caught up to him and there weren't any left to satisfy him anymore.
He became irratic, impatient and aggressive. He would try to transfer himself from torture and interrogation to on-field assassination squad...with me. He became like a drug addiction desperate for a fix. It began affecting his performance and was suspended, similar to how I am right now.
He was in his room and his family wanted to celebrate him being with them. When I came to his house. I-I saw him...covered." Shinichi took a deep breath, composing himself. "covered in their blood. He had a crazed look on his face. He giggled like he was the happiest man in the world."
Satoru gulped hard. A tremor went through his body, worried that he would end up like that too. "I saw the torture tool he would use during interrogations, and his daughter strapped to chair, bloody and motionless."
Mitsuki instantly ran outside to empty her stomach into the toilet. But her disgust caught and she vomited on the floor before she could reach the toilet. She was also a war veteran who put together broken soldiers who were manged and deformed beyond repair, but even she couldn't handle what she heard.
"His wife was still alive, she was next to recieve what he had in store. The poor woman... she witnessed her husband used military-grade torture techniques on her 6 year old daughter." Shinichi paused, massaged his temple, reliving the memory, his worst memory.
"What did you do, then? What happened to her?" Satoru whispered, too hesitant to know what happened next.
"I saw the look in her eyes, the pain, the despair. She didn't want to live anymore, if she was rescued then she would never be the same or would probably kill herself as soon as she got the chance.
I mercy killed her. It was the best I could do for her, relieve her from her misery. Kosuke, was sad, almost enraged. Not because his wife was killed...but because I took his prey.
He lunged at me, covered in his daughter blood and tears. He swung at me trying to kill me. I dodged him and took out my sword and plunged it into his heart." Shinichi ended. He no longer could keep himself together and was breathing deeply.
"Will I became like him, that I'll commit the worst crime a parent could commit? Will I have to get someone to promise me that they'll kill me if I do someone like this?" Satoru began crying hearing the fate of the man he was following the path of.
"No. This is why I'm here. I'll make sure sure that this will never happen. I'll help, I'LL HELP YOU!" Shinichi's composure broke. There were tears on the brink of falling, he would not let the Satoru repeat the mistakes Kosuke made. That was a promise he made to himself.
"I'll help you too! I'm a part of this as well." Mitsuki said, though her face was pale from vomiting she had a small smile. A smile that promised hope.
