Starting with the Roble Holy Kingdom, they had some serious issues to deal with. They were one of the places that got hit the hardest by the Demon Gods, causing the loss of so much manpower, virtually every field of work was suffering a shortage of it.
On top of the mass deaths they suffered, many of those who remained, had lost their families, or were so terrified by the state of things, one might as well not even add them into the potential work force numbers.
Further they were completely abandoned by the Slane Theocracy in their time of crisis, sowing the seeds of anger, and dissent against them. There was a stark degree in how much people hated the Slane Theocracy, the fury palpable. One good side of this was it did reanimate some of the people who'd lost hope after coming face to face with despair.
The religious leaders had all sworn off the gods they had once preached for the people to worship, opting instead to pool together some minimum amount of resources to build up a powerful monument to the mighty Goddess who'd actually saved them, and the whole world. This quickly became the state religion, partially out of reverence to Night Silver, but mostly out of spite towards the Slane Theocracy. That was just how deep these wounds truly were.
Finally, on top of all of the other issues, there were invasions by the demi-humans from the Abelion hills. A terrifying force that gave the country's military constant struggles. And with a navy already running low on ammunition, personnel, and sustenance… It was a constant headache for the newly established holy kingdom.
"Listen up, Let us speak practically. We can not handle everything on our own if we don't do something right away, and focus on it!"
"We must keep our people safe from the horrors of the demi-humans."
"We need resources to feed our people!"
"We need soldiers to fight this war!"
"Silence!" … "This is what we're going to do. Begin diverting home building resources to a single large wall that spans this gap. Our current population is too small to worry about building new homes for now." The Holy King pointed out across a map. "We will use all of the currently standing buildings to house everyone. Make sure we set things up to have a relatively similar generational, and gender spread. The population recovery will take care of itself this way…"
"That's pretty heavy handed, isn't it?"
"We have to be. We aren't fighting orcs here, we're fighting a powerful, and smart enemy. Heavy handed is going to feel light by comparison to watching your loved ones devoured before your eyes." The King clenched his fist.
"And what about workers for the wall? And food reserves? We're thin on both of these fronts."
"We will begin by instituting a new plan effective-" He felt a wave of something that gave him a different idea. "Send out the fishermen at once! Our mother, mother nature has blessed us with a gift, the bay that divides us will soon become a source of great strength!"
"And for the wall, we can use it as strength, and endurance training for our soldiers!"
"Lastly, and this will be hard, even for me, but I feel we must take a page out of Tus Nadair's book. Everything they did not only worked, but built an unshakeable foundation for the future. Everyone will undergo military training, we'll have a nation capable of fully mobilizing at a moment's notice. For the sake of her people, everyone will be molded into a man, or woman strong enough to fight back, and protect his or her brothers and sisters!"
"That might be difficult…"
"No! This is the easiest part! Let us bring this to bear, if there is any dissent, we don't need to do anything against them. Merely remind them of how we were abandoned by the Slane Theocracy! And left to our own devices. They voted to sacrifice all of us. Who's to say they won't use their strong military to annex us again after the demi-human attacks? We can't trust them. And this will be the fuel that breeds warriors out of all our nation's citizens! For kin and country!"
With a series of decisions made, the mobilization began. Edicts, and orders were sent across the land. Delivered to every village, and small city. The people were at first, terrified by what they read. However, some took this as a measure to pull themselves out of a major rut, a new lease on life, a purpose. Defending my people, so none suffer as I did? Our king actually understands!
Their military was quickly filled with many who'd suffered through the hellish sights. They'd been hungry, tired, and ill equipped. However, they brought with them a fire. A burning desire!
"You've all answered your nation's, your people's call! And for that, you should be rewarded. And so, your first mission is here! Eat up! After breakfast, you will be divided into 4 groups! One will be training, one will be fishing, one will be constructing the wall, and the last will Pray to our goddess! You will all rotate every week! For those who pray, I pray that you awaken to her divine grace. For now, allow me to show you the blessings of her exalted self, Goddess Night Silver! UNDER DIVINE FLAG!"
The demonstration was over, the people ate, ensuring they were satisfied. Watched over by the current military leaders, they were unbeknownst to them, being chosen for each group already.
Roble Holy Kingdom began to recover, pulling itself out of the worst rut it ever had. Three months later, the King looked at the reports brought to him and smirked. "So this is what she meant. We really did manage to pull ourselves out of the rut. We have food, people, defenses, and most importantly, production of everything we'd ever need. It was rough, but we're well on our way to a complete recovery. From there, it's constant improvement, just what she wanted us all to do."
"Your majesty, if it's alright, may I be excused now? Watching you, and our queens going at it this long is not easy to watch, even if I know we must continuously increase our population…"
"Then go, and enjoy your husband." The woman ran out, in heat.
"Look at me now, okay. What's on your mind?"
"I just wonder… How is Re-Estize fairing these days? We're in a position where we could send them a small degree of aid if they ask for it."
"First, there's something else you need to take care of right in front of you. And you better not try to steal more of my time again. I barely get any with you as it is."
"Alright, alright, I'll think of it later."
