It took about half an hour before the caravan arrived at E-Rantel's main gate. It was, in a word, impressive, at least, it was for anyone other than Night Silver, however, she was incredibly good at acting, mildly impressed by the sight, all for the sake of the smile Nemu had.
Once they arrived at the gate, Night Silver stood up, and stretched. The gate captain had been the one dealing with Gazef when he saw it… The evening sunlit figure…
"She makes the sunlight look beautiful…"
Gazef looked behind him, and sighed, then waved his hand in front of the captain's face.
"You gonna let us in the city today, or not?"
"Huh… Oh, yes, that's right. Would you mind explaining the elven beauty, Sir Gazef?"
"She's a witness to what happened in Carne Village-"
Night Silver had noticed the eyes on her, sensing that one pair had been filled with admiration instead of pure lust. A rare trait men outside of Tus Nadair, and the elven nation have. She floated up, and then over towards the two men.
"Little Gazef, is there a problem here? I'd quite like to see the places the girls mentioned. Especially that boy that Enri is interested in."
"Nope, there's no problem at all. The captain was just about to grant us passage, and places to store our captives."
"That sounds wonderful! I'll put them all to sleep for you so they can't do anything. Now, let's get going, I want to see what this city has to offer me."
Floating away with a regal grace, she returned to the horse-drawn cart with the Emmot sisters. Doing so, she'd left the captain stunned with what he saw…
"I've never seen such a bold, and proud woman before… She's going to walk around like that, right?"
"If she wasn't then why would she wear that?"
"Very well, there's clearly something about her I don't know about yet-"
"She's the Lady Mother Nature in the flesh."
"TRULY!?" Gazef gave a nod to the Captain's outburst. "As captain of E-Rantel's guard, I hereby grant you entry into the city, along with your party."
A few moments later, they were in the city, and the guards closed the gates for the day. No one else would be allowed in, or out until tomorrow.
"Captain, who was that woman?"
"That was… Lady Mother Nature…"
"That… Explains… A lot…"
"Indeed… it does."
…
Riding through the city towards the governor's manor, now free of a stupendous number of their party now that the Sunlight Scripture was put behind bars, and the warriors Gazef commanded, were now all attempting to enjoy some womanly company for the night. Night Silver was starting to wish she'd kept her babies as the pressure in her chest was mounting.
Arriving at the governor's manor, the sun had finished its job for the day, now it was the moon's job to light the night. Upon arrival, the butler came out to greet the arrival of the king's forces. He bowed with a deep respect, remaining in full control of his everything, even in the presence of Night Silver's obvious exposure.
"Welcome Lord Gazef, I trust your mission went well?"
"In some ways, and not in other ways."
"I see, well, if it pleases you, I'll have rooms prepared for you, those you've brought with you today. It won't take long, perhaps you'd enjoy joining the governor for a meal and some tea?"
"He wants me there?"
"He did say that he should speak with you as soon as you made your return, regardless of the state he was in. Naturally he's just begun his meal, so I see no reason why you can't join him and his wife."
"I see, then I'll gratefully accept it."
…
The governor sat at the head of the table eating his meal. He was a bit of a plump sort of man, not quite heavyset, but definitely had a little chub, just enough to be cute, and not too much to be ugly.
His wife sat to his right, feeding the young child between them. Though, she was quickly running out of supply, a fate she had to live with due to her weak physique. She too ate her own meal, fortunately it had been cut up for her, to make it easy to multi-task.
Just while they were enjoying the peaceful meal, with the minimal work load… Spending time with the weak, and obviously dying young child of theirs… A knock came at the door, and so…
"Lord Governor, sir Gazef and a few in his party have come. Is it alright to have them come join you?"
"Huh, uhm?" His wife nodded, knowing the men involved were of high character. "Yes, I'll have the chefs whip something up."
The door opened, and the butler entered the room, bowed to the governor, and then Gazef entered the dining hall. He gave a small bow out of respect… Then the Vice-Chief, and then Carne Village Chief… It wasn't over yet, for next was Night Silver herself, she did not bow in the slightest, instead her eyes fixated on the child.
"Governess, how old is that child currently feeding upon your breast?" She had a ton of worry in her voice.
"She's almost 2, but she's always been weak…" The governess replied, starting to show the cracks in her political face, letting the worried mother shine through. "I don't know how much time she has left."
Night Silver approached in a calm, and completely unthreatening way. "Do you mind if I taste your milk?"
The room went silent, but the governess knew the reason. So she nodded. Night Silver took her finger to get a drop of the governess' milk, tasting it… She waited a moment, and then sighed. And created a berry from her palm.
"If you eat this it will fill you up, and correct your milk's nutrient properties. Your body will be corrected within a day, but your milk supply will take a couple days to correct. If you like, I can place her upon my breast. She'll recover quickly if I feed her."
"You'd do that?"
"No child should suffer for the problems their parents have. And… my breasts are filled to the brim right now. It would actually be helpful if she could drink some at this point."
