Chapter 208 - C208 : E-Rantel (2)

The way she'd spoken, it almost seemed like Night Silver was relieved to see there was someone in need of her bosom. The Governess felt a little apprehensive about the idea, and so the Governor spoke up for his wife.

"Miss, I'm afraid I haven't been introduced to you yet. Might I have your name, surely I should know the name of the woman willing to bare her breast for the sake of my own child."

"I presume that you are the governor of this land for little Ramposa, right? I think he's the third right? Yeah, the third. Anyway…" Night Silver paused, and smiled, watching as the governor realized immediately who she was by the way she spoke. "I have been given a few different names by people who revere me-"

"The ruling founder of Tus Nadair, the legendary nation… You are the Elven Mother, the Guardian Elven Mother… And, Mother Goddess." The Governor stood, and bowed to show his deep respect for the woman in his dining hall.

"Pfft, you're well learned aren't you, a cute young man. So, now that you know who I am, is it alright if I feed that baby?"

"Huh, oh, yes of course! Please, if you're alright with it, that would be a great blessing for my daughter's life." The Governor's response was eager, and filled with relief.

The Governess turned, and handed her daughter off into the arms of the only woman in the world to truly earn the title of Goddess.

"Goddess of mothers, please help my daughter, for I'm unable to properly feed her on my own…" She cried, wiping the tears borne of her sadness.

Night Silver smiled, taking her daughter, and with the practiced experience of breast feeding nearly everyday for 600 years, gently positioned the young child for optimal feeding. Once prepared, she looked at the Governess, and smiled, caressing her exhausted face.

"You've been sick for a long time, and your medical knowledge has seemed to fail you nearly completely. Don't worry anymore, your child will recover, and once she does, she will not be fated to live with the same illness that's made your body weak."

The Governor turned to the butler. "Setian, quickly go and inform the chef we're having a feast tonight, my child has been blessed by the goddess!"

"No, that's fine, just a regular sized meal is fine, I just ask that you make enough for all of our party to eat well today."

"Oh, as you wish Lady Mother Goddess." The Governor gulped, and sat back down. "Alright… sir Gazef, I must thank you for bringing her here to my manor. My daughter will survive now, is there something you wish? Perhaps you have a young son in need of a wife? I can arrange for them to be married once they come of age…"

"Uh, no, that won't be necessary, I have no kin of my own, and even if I did, I deserve no reward. As I, no one would be able to convince her to do something she wouldn't already wish to do."

"I… I see, in that case, I'll drop it for now, but promise me this, if there's anything you need, come and see me. I'll do what I can for you… Though you may not need my aid…"

"Actually that would be for the best, because I have something… Could you explore the city with us for a few hours tomorrow, and write a formal letter of introduction for Lady Nature? And a "permit" for her to be dressed like this…"

"Hey now, I don't need a silly permit to walk around fully dressed, now do I?"

"And you call that fully dressed?"

"Yes, I do. See how efficient this is? I even have a free breast in case another starving child appears. All women in Tus Nadair act like this. It builds a sense of skinship, and familial love between every child, and every woman in the nation."

"I don't mean it like that. I'd just like to have something to show others that there's nothing to worry about. Because technically it is considered a crime here…"

"Then your laws are wrong. I'll elaborate more once we're in the capital, but rest assured that law won't remain so for too much longer. Or at the very least, it will be made into an optional thing. The feeling of letting my skin breathe is simply the best."

"After hearing what you said on the way here, I'm beginning to think you're right, at least on this one. I like the idea any child would be able to get the motherly affection they need to grow up strong. It certainly beats them starving and dying in the streets."

"I can write such a letter, but going out and about right now is not easy for me. I've got a lot of management to deal with, Baharuth's sending soldiers all around-"

"It wasn't Baharuth…"

"No, the reports said they were clad in Baharuth's armor."

"It was the Slane Theocracy. They wished to use their actions to create a fight between your two nations."

"The Slane Theocracy…"

"Perhaps I was too kind hearted in allowing them to continue living-"

It was then her eyes went wild with fury… It freaked everyone out. She stood up and gave the child to the Governess. Turned, and then passed through a portal. A few moments later, she returned with a smile on her face, took the child back, and settled back in her seat.

"What just happened?"

"Oh, The Slane Theocracy just decided to kill and kidnap some of my kin. Those ones won't be doing that again, ever. Daring to lay a finger on my kin is a death sentence."

"What if it's a loving hand?"

"That's fine, I like babies. So as long as that happens it's fine." She smiled.

A moment of awkward silence came after she spoke, and then it returned to the business at hand. The governor wrote a report on the situation in full, stamped, and sealed it. Then he went on to make a rather glowingly impressive letter of introduction for Night Silver, this was something she'd "need" in order to see the king, legally, that is…

Afterwards, the rooms were ready, and Night Silver had both the Emmot girls sleep in her room, each helping themselves to some of her milk… To the two of them, it felt as though they were growing stronger with every drop.
