Chapter 10 - 98%

Mmh

Kaes groaned out his eyes drowsy and 98% closed, his mind covered in a deep fog not even trying to fight his exhaustion.

Ring~

Ring~

Kaes' eyes shot open as he covered his ears out of pure instinct. Kaes began to take in his surroundings as he realized he was out of their room, and back in the hostel lobby. And not far to his left his mom was sleeping on a couch in one of his hoodies.

"Hello, this is room 307. One of the beds in the room broke. Again." A man's voice entered his ears as he soon heard a woman's voice, "You keep booking at these cheap a** hotels."

Kaes turned around looking at the front desk not seeing a single woman, as the man at the front desk responded, "I apologize for the inconvenience sir, I can offer you a refund if you'd like."

"Refund." The other man spoke, "Did you say refund, is there not another available room."

"Refund, oh hell no." The woman spoke, as Kaes could hear her scrambling through the phone.

"No, no no no, hold up. I think I can get another room." The man said his voice carrying a tinge of desperation..

"Yeah and so can I, dips***, don't ever call me again." The woman's voice sounded quite hurtful.

"Damn." Kaes whispered to himself, he had absolutely no qualms about using this newfound gift in this manner, after all he loved the drama.

"Wait," the man's voice came again catching Kaes off-guard, "It's a hostel, not a hotel, there's a difference."

"Ugh." The woman groaned, her voice filled with annoyance and impatience.

"Like seriously this is way cheaper than a hotel, maybe understand what affordable is and you won't need to w**** yourself out for every purse you want to buy." The man's voice echoed out loudly as if he didn't give a damn anymore.

Kaes started chuckling with a smile on his face as his voice carried over to the man at the front desk. He started looking at Kaes weirdly as he continued his call with the man.

"Sir, are you still there, I can still offer you a refund for the room sir." The man spoke with a calm voice.

Soon a voice came from the other side, "Yeah I'll be downstairs in a second."

Grumble~~

Kaes' stomach began growling so loud that it could be heard throughout the lobby, as everyone but his mother reacted, as she remained still asleep. Kaes could feel eyes gazing upon him as his eyes began to turn red, and his teeth began to shift, causing him to open his mouth out of some of purest discomfort he had ever felt.

Feeling his fangs come out he ended up touching them reminding him that this was real and that he hadn't eaten all day. Feeling his stomach contract again, he felt a pang of hunger flood through his mind.

Getting up Kaes walked over to the front desk, however the whole time he was thinking to himself, 'If we are really vampires, can I even eat food now or do I have to drink blood now.'

Being from America Kaes wasn't left unknowledgeable in terms of supernatural and fantasy stories. Despite this Kaes wasn't really worried about eating, as his mind was thinking beyond his next meal, about how he could live as a vampire in society, this human world.

Could mankind allow him to be part of their world in the light once again or would he have to hide in the shadows for the rest of life. Could they truly allow what he is now to exist.

'Yeah right.' Kaes thought to himself tiredly and impudently. Honestly Kaes knows humans fear what they do not understand and all Kaes could do for the present and near future is keep his newfound 'gifts' to himself and his mom.

"Hello, do you speak English?" Kaes spoke out talking to the man in the front.

"Yes, and you must be the college attache, Mr. O'Neally sir. Pleasure to meet you sir." The man tried to deduce Kaes' identity.

"No, actually I'm one of the students here. " Kaes said and visually he could see a semblance of complete surprise in the man's eyes. As he reeled back and retorted with surprise entangled in his tone, "Really, you look like a grown a** man."

"Yeah, I'm used to people confusing me with a grown a** man." Kaes spoke with a smile adding a touch of sarcasm.

The man smiled a little as he asked, "You eaten?"

"Honestly, no. I was told there would be dinner."

"Yes but that won't be ready till 9 o'clock, and it is currently 8 o'clock." The man said, causing Kaes to freeze realizing he's been asleep nearly 8 hours.

"8 o'clock. Um honestly man, I haven't eaten all day, would you happen to know if there was any place still open." Kaes said being honest as if he could feel his stomach twisting and turning.

"Yeah there's a place up the street then make a left and then a right. It'll be the only one with lights on." The man said calmly.

"Can you tell my mom, if she wakes up, that I left to get something to eat and I'll be at the restaurant." Kaes said his body was already walking out of the door and the man was nodding at him.

A few minutes after following the man's directions Kaes was walking across the street seeing the only building with some lights on. And through the windows he could see tables and a few people inside wearing similar uniforms.

Kaes stopped, his eyes catching sight of three young women, their voices full of laughter as Kaes' newly enhanced hearing picked up on the words.

"Girl, you are too much." A high pitched voice came frazzling his nerves.

"She is far too much." A much softer voice came, one that seemed to put his frazzled nerves to rest.

"Oh come on Jack, live a little." A voice came filled with energy.

"Haha." A bout of sarcastic laughter came from the soft voice, "Can we sit down now these heels are killing me."

"Of course my lady we are here drinks are on me, of course." A voice came filled with a teasing tone.

Shortly after they disappeared into the same building Kaes was soon to enter.

'Whatever.' Kaes thought dismissively as he started walking across the street into the restaurant only to find himself looking stumped.
