'Mom is gonna kill me.' Kaes said, taking in the scenery, only to be brought back by a repulsive scent of alcohol and beer. 'I should find somewhere else -.'
The clerk's directions had led him to a bar. For a second he was shocked and the next his body turned as if to exit the building.
"Yo big man, come on over." A deep voice filled with an accent filled everyone's ears, "What can I do you for?"
'Ay f*** it.' Kaes thought to himself, "Can I have a cheeseburger with everything on it and some fries."
Kaes walked up to the bar and took a seat, "Not everyday I get to grill now, and what to drink?"
"Just water for now."
"Alright it'll be out soon." The man's voice filled with an accent came.
As the man left Kaes sat in the seat, his eyes seeming to just stare at the wall, but inwardly his thoughts ran rampant. He thought about the monstrous beast and that other humanoid figure that he had seen in the room questioning their existence. He even questioned his alignment earlier in the day, he questioned why he saw those two other women, and even why when he turned himself around he could see one of them.
His eyes traced over her body finding it difficult to see the same body he could barely glimpse at before, 'She looks like her younger sister, nor does she have the rose tattoo that I saw. I guess she isn't really her.' Kaes thought but his curiosity didn't wane as he turned himself around as his mind wandered for a few minutes before a soft and shy voice seemed to draw him out of his stupor.
"Hello." The voice was soft and filled with a sense of nervousness and when Kaes turned around he saw the same girl he was eyeing just a few minutes ago. A small blush filled her face as her fingers rhythmically tapped against the bar, she was already beginning to sit down as Kaes watched, mainly stunned, but also extremely tired but still greeted her kindly.
"Hello, we've met before, right." Kaes spoke softly as his voice seemed to hold some form of cheer. However deep inside his curiosity about this girl started to blossom as his eyes met hers and for a second it was like she was stunned, then embarrassed. She turned her head away as if she had just been caught doing something bad. Kaes could even oddly enough hear her heart rate skyrocket.
"Um yeah I was your waiter on Le Parisien. I'm a little surprised you remember." She said as her lips curled into a soft yet unnoticeable smile. However she still kept her eyes averted and when they did turn to him he they immediately averted. He gave a small smile as he found her actions quite adorable.
"Of course, I'd remember you." Kaes said with a soft smile, his mind rarely let him forget faces that easily.
"Here you go big man, food'll be out in just a minute." The bartender said as he put two glasses of water before them. However just before he left again he could've swore he saw him wink at him.
"So those you're friends?" Kaes asked, bringing back the conversation.
"Yeah we're just out partying for right now." she said with a slight yawn. Her exaggerated tapping and heart rate finally slowed down as if she was getting comfortable.
"Sounds like you're about ready to call it a night." Kaes added with a chuckle taking a sip.
"More their thing." The girl said, tilting her head at two girls behind them, "Normally I have late shifts, so I can't hang out anyway."
"Oh, it must be a lucky night for you."
"Yeah it was, I was actually supposed to be working, but my boss called me out of nowhere and said I could take tonight off." She said her words were slightly exaggerated causing Kaes to grin, as he raised his glass following. "So yeah I actually think so, here's to not having to work for the rest of the week."
"To freedom." Kaes spoke happily.
"To freedom" She followed suit with a happy smile on her face as she glanced towards Kaes. As they each took a swig of water from their cups they gazed into each other's eyes for a split second and just like before she was stunned as she averted her head only to end up choking on the water.
Surprise was etched on his face as he saw her reaction and slowly his lips turned into a smile, then an odd chuckle then laughter, pure innocent laughter. But with a few moments it died down and when he opened his eyes to look at her, she looked slightly mesmerized. When their eyes met she averted her face away, her face was beet red, and even her heart was beating loudly.
Honestly Kaes didn't even mean to laugh, he didn't have the normal control of his body that he usually had and he was only able to chalk it up to lack of food. The few people in the room looked at him oddly but nobody really said anything as there was just silence, until the room was flooded with music and the sound of conversation resumed.
"Excuse me." She said as she got up and headed to the bathroom. Her feet rushed quickly to the point you could say she was actually running.
