At the mansion, Matthew and Mallory were summoned to Zachiel's bedroom, for a special discussion. They imagined it was for the wedding and wasted no time to arrive.
However, at the door, they ran into Desmond, who seemed equally confused to see them.
"What are you doing here? Don't tell me you're here to eavesdrop on what grandfather intends to tell us?" He scoffed. "You illegitimate pricks have no shame whatsoever."
Matthew tried to retort, but Mallory gave his hand a tight squeeze, and slowly shook her head from side to side. "Let's get going, your grandfather must have something important to tell us."
They went inside, only to see that Anna, Maverick and William were already in attendance.
A maid closed the door after them, and locked it from the inside.
A nervous swear ran across Matthew's forehead.
This was about the inheritance. Judging by Zachiel's sickly appearance, he knew the old man was standing on his last legs.
