Chapter 35 - Ranks Can’t Measure Me

Zane reappeared in the shadowed alley near the town's edge, the faint golden shimmer of his teleport fading from his body. His eyes adjusted quickly to the familiar surroundings.

"Hm. Back to the town," he muttered, brushing invisible dust from his shoulder. He paused, his gaze drifting in the direction of the inn. "Looks like those two kids are heading back to grab their stuff. Good—means they're smart enough not to stay long. That academy might actually keep them safe."

He stepped forward, but something caught his eye—a worn wooden post just outside a nearby building. Two wanted posters fluttered slightly in the breeze.

Zane walked over, tilting his head.

"Well, well… that's why they were in disguise," he said, a small grin forming. "Both their faces are on here. Pretty decent sketches too. Their siblings wants them badly."

He studied the bounty amounts, then casually waved it off. "Not my business. Though… those two are getting more interesting by the hour."
