Chapter 363, Four-Legged Zombie
The running footsteps and zombie roars from both sides of the buildings were becoming increasingly clear.
The fact that the zombie horde could choose to circle around meant that there were Big-Head Zombies nearby.
Most likely, they were hiding in one of the nearby buildings.
"Let me take a look!" Wu Heng said.
The two spirits quickly entered his body, and two scenes appeared in his mind.
Behind the buildings on both sides of the main road, there was a mass of zombies rushing towards them.
Among them were the evolved zombies with shrunken muscles, mixed within the horde.
Their movements were swift and agile, clearly different from ordinary zombies.
Even if they didn't possess human-level intelligence, they had at least some primitive instinct.
After watching, Wu Heng released the two spirits once again.
He said, "Glenda, continue observing the movements of the zombie horde from the air. If anything unusual happens, remember to alert me. Xiaoxiao, go and find those hiding mutated zombies, especially the Big-Head ones."
Glenda nodded and flew into the sky, while Xiaoxiao also agreed and flew into the distance.
With both spirits given their assignments, Wu Heng then commanded the skeletons, "Deploy skeletons to block the paths on both sides, intercept any zombies approaching."
Clatter, clatter~!
A large number of skeletons began to move.
Two squads of spearmen split off, quickly heading to the side branches.
Spears thrust forward, forming a defensive line.
Wu Heng also cast [Eagle Eye] at various spots throughout the formation, placing several sensors to monitor the entire battlefield.
Soon, the horde emerged from behind the buildings, coming into view.
Like a flood after a dam had burst, they crashed into the prepared skeletons.
The horde surged and tumbled over the formation, covering the skeletons in the front row.
More axe-wielding skeletons were deployed, rushing toward the zombies that had broken through the line.
Chaos ensued as they clashed.
...
Meanwhile.
The main road, which had just been cleared by the bombing, was once again filled with zombies.
Waving their arms and trampling over the remains and bloody ground, they charged forward.
In the rear.
Wang Chengang and the others hurried to reload the magazines of the Skeleton Wyverns.
Though they had often fought alongside skeletons against zombies before and had seen many large-scale battles.
The scene of zombies coming from all directions without an end in sight still made them shiver.
The fact that they weren't shaking or screaming showed they were already quite resilient compared to most survivors.
"Brother Gang, can we really kill them all?" one of the survivors asked shakily.
There were so many zombies that it felt impossible.
Even if they were rabbits instead of zombies, it would take days to get rid of them all.
The other survivors changing magazines also looked towards Wang Chengang.
He had come with them from the auto repair factory, and often shared stories of past battles.
Now, they wanted to hear his thoughts more than ever.
Wang Chengang looked up at the distant mass and said, "The number of skeletons in the army is no less than the zombies. The King and Qi Hancai aren't scared, so why should we worry?"
"But we don't have any abilities."
"Don't worry, I followed them all the way from Qixin District. The skeletons haven't lost a single fight yet, and they won't lose this time either!"
"But those numbers..."
Crackle~!
At that moment, static came from the walkie-talkie.
"Wang Chengang, how much longer until you're ready?"
Wang Chengang froze momentarily, using one hand to press the walkie-talkie, "Almost done."
Then, wiping sweat from their brows, everyone sped up.
Qi Hancai also jumped down from the truck, bringing her skeleton bodyguards along to help replace the magazines.
...
On the main road.
The horde surged like waves, spreading quickly down the road.
Wu Heng cast [Bone Armor] on himself and kept his gaze fixed on the approaching horde.
"Archers, fire at will." Wu Heng ordered.
A dense array of archers began drawing their bows.
Whoosh~!
Arrows flew out like a fierce wind, filling the sky like a cloud.
Then, they rained down into the zombie horde.
Many zombies were turned into porcupines, their bodies falling from the momentum, knocking over those behind them, creating a rolling mass.
But more zombies trampled over their fallen companions, charging ahead.
Arrows continued to rain down.
Zombies kept falling in waves.
After several volleys of arrows.
Wang Chengang's voice came through the walkie-talkie, "Ready!"
"Send in the wyverns!"
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~!
The sound of something tearing through the air echoed.
Five Skeleton Wyverns shot up into the sky, flying towards the charging horde.
Some mutated zombies in the horde stopped, looking up at the strange creatures, picking up rocks from the ground, and hurling them skyward.
The next moment, the sky darkened.
A black mass descended, along with the rocks that had been thrown.
Boom, boom, boom~!
The ground trembled, and thick smoke rose.
Wu Heng immediately crouched low, smoke and shattered stones pattering against his bone armor.
He looked up and saw that the once densely packed zombie horde was now almost empty, with only a few zombies left, their bodies shattered but still alive.
Among them was a Level 2 Giant Zombie, its body full of bloody holes.
It staggered backward, slowly falling.
"Go, kill any remaining zombies, and come back."
Clatter, clatter~!
A mass of axe-wielding skeletons crossed the spear line and rushed forward.
They threw themselves at the remaining zombies, axes rising and falling on their bodies.
Even the Level 2 mutated zombie fell to the chaotic hacking, and its corpse was dragged back.
They quickly retreated before the next wave of zombies could reach them, withdrawing behind the defensive line.
...
Wu Heng connected with the [Eagle Eye] spells he had placed at each intersection to check the situation.
On the right road.
Crash~ Clatter!
The windows above shattered, and a mass of zombies leaped from the building.
They crashed into the skeletons, as if it were raining zombies, toppling them over.
Meanwhile, at the intersection, a Level 2 mutated Big Guy charged into the spear line, its arms swinging wildly.
It broke the formation and led the horde forward.
"Red Crown, Wooden Bucket Servant, go kill that mutated zombie and help the skeletons regroup."
Two skeleton warriors drew their weapons and charged at the mutated zombie.
The swords kept swinging, toppling the raging mutated zombie, and then decapitating it.
Warriors always ended battles with a beheading.
It seemed like a professional habit.
After the mutated zombie was killed, they began eliminating the zombies that had breached the line.
They pushed the zombies back and reformed the defensive line.
The second mutated zombie corpse was also dragged over.
It was placed to the side.
Just then, Xiaoxiao flew back.
"Uncle, I found the Big-Head monsters, there are two of them in the mall, and there's also a big one, it has four legs and looks super ugly."
Wu Heng looked in the direction Xiaoxiao pointed.
The mall in the distance had a black glass curtain wall.
"Let me take a look!"
Xiaoxiao entered his body, sharing the scene.
Behind the glass curtain wall on the third floor of the mall, three mutated zombies stood.
Two Big-Head Zombies knelt on the ground, facing outward.
One large zombie, bloated in form with four thick legs, stroked the heads of the Big-Head Zombies with its bloated hand, as if petting a small dog, while watching the charging zombie horde outside.
A Tier-3 Mutated Zombie?
