Chapter 364: Rob Instead
"Another tier-three mutated zombie again."
"The main station hasn't even gathered much intelligence on tier-three mutated zombies, yet I've already encountered three different types."
"And this tier-three zombie seems to have even higher intelligence."
"The action of petting the heads of the Big-Head zombies doesn't even look like something a zombie would do."
Then, Wu Heng started considering how he could kill these three mutated zombies.
The two Big-Head zombies, he'd already encountered before.
Their primary ability was controlling zombie hordes. They moved slowly and had almost no combat power themselves.
All their reliance lay on the other zombies.
Without the zombies, they posed no threat on their own.
As for the tier-three zombie, Wu Heng wasn't too sure about its abilities. Judging by its size, its combat capabilities weren't weak.
Letting the skeletons sneak in to kill it was a bit risky.
If it failed, they'd likely never make it back.
The best approach would be to kill it from a distance.
Wu Heng looked again at the mall in the distance.
"The distance is a bit far, though."
...…
Main battlefield.
The battle continued.
After the third round of bombing by the skeleton dragons,
The zombies stopped blindly attacking and instead paced back and forth in the distance, roaring and howling towards them.
Occasionally, a zombie would take a few wild steps forward, claws bared.
Then, it would fall back into the horde, continuing its roars.
Up above, "Glenda" flew down and said, "The zombies aren't attacking anymore, the ones on the sides are retreating as well."
Sure enough, upon realizing a frontal assault wouldn't work, they no longer attacked directly.
Instead, they barricaded an intersection near the roundabout.
Qi Hancai approached from behind.
Glenda quickly faded into invisibility.
"The zombies at the back have decreased, there aren't many left," Qi Hancai said.
Through Eagle Eye, Wu Heng could confirm this too.
Only a few zombies remained at the side junctions, the rest had all retreated further away.
"It's fine, they're blocking ahead, but not many zombies are left—no big problem," Wu Heng said directly.
Qi Hancai nodded. "Yes, we'll definitely clear this road."
Wu Heng nodded, setting his gaze on the two tier-two mutated bodies at his feet.
He used [Raise Skeleton] and the two tall skeletons stood up.
Wu Heng instructed them to step aside, removing two tier-two zombie cores and storing them in his spatial ring.
Once the skeleton army was reassembled,
Wu Heng gave the order, "Advance."
Swoosh! Swoosh!
The sound of bones rubbing accompanied the pounding of feet.
The skeleton army began marching forward.
In the distance, the zombies became even more agitated, their howls growing louder.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The dragons swooped overhead again, raining iron bombs from above.
The horde below was once again halved.
But the remaining zombies were no longer just roaring—they charged forward in a frenzy.
Braving the rain of arrows, they pushed into the ranks of the skeletons.
...…
Wu Heng pulled out the Barrett from his spatial ring.
He mounted it on the roof of an abandoned car, pointing it far towards the mall.
Before, perhaps the distance had been too much; he wasn't confident.
But now, the Barrett's range was definitely sufficient.
"Xiaoxiao, go mark the position of that four-legged monster."
"Got it, Uncle!" Xiaoxiao responded, quickly flying forward.
In no time, she appeared by the third-floor glass curtain wall, pointing to the location behind it.
Bang!
The shot rang out.
The massive recoil hit Wu Heng's shoulder.
The next second, the glass curtain wall exploded, and the bloated body of the four-legged zombie burst open.
Blood and flesh splattered.
Half of the body vanished completely.
The four-legged zombie looked down at its missing part, eyes filled with fear and disbelief.
It looked up again.
Bang!
Its right two legs shattered, the delayed echo of the explosion following.
The four-legged zombie looked terrified, its body stumbling and beginning to crawl to the side.
...…
Wu Heng aimed from afar.
Xiaoxiao flew quickly along the outside of the curtain wall, pointing as she went.
Another shot echoed, glass shattering as the entire chest of a Big-Head zombie exploded, its pus-filled head flying off.
Xiaoxiao kept flying, swiftly pointing out another location.
Wu Heng calculated its movement speed and pulled the trigger again.
The bullet flew, the last Big-Head zombie's body exploded, and it died instantly.
In the distance, Xiaoxiao poked her head inside and checked, then gave an OK gesture.
Wu Heng gave her a thumbs up in return.
On the battlefield, the fight continued.
The attacking zombies reverted back to their beastly state, pouncing into the spear line.
As they were impaled by spears, they clawed madly, trying to grab anything they could.
"Advance, encircle the remaining zombies, speed up."
The skeleton forces quickly spread out.
Spears moved forward, axe-wielding skeletons approached from both sides, cutting down the remaining zombies.
The battle grew fiercer.
...…
As night fell,
The entire land was shrouded in darkness.
Car headlights lit up the area, providing illumination.
The entire area resembled a battlefield ravaged by cannon fire.
The road, bombed by thrown iron shells, was filled with potholes, street lights lay fallen, cars spewed smoke.
The skeleton army fought its way to the base of the mall.
Only a few zombies missing limbs were left, crawling slowly forward, but axe-wielding skeletons approached and smashed their heads.
Standing below the mall,
Wu Heng said, "Skull-Crusher, take the skeletons inside and kill all the zombies. Bring the bodies out."
Skull-Crusher lifted its warhammer, stepping over shattered glass, leading the skeletons inside.
Amid scattered howls and sounds of fighting,
The building gradually quieted down.
Many zombie corpses were carried out.
Among them were two Big-Head zombie heads, and the upper half of the bloated four-legged zombie.
"This corpse isn't complete."
Under the lights, Wu Heng frowned at the body.
To reduce the difficulty of the battle, Wu Heng had used the Barrett directly, and it had been effective.
Killing the Big-Head zombies had been one shot each, and the four-legged zombie had been blown to pieces.
The battle had gone smoothly, but turning these bodies later would be troublesome.
"Clean up the battlefield, collect all the arrows. You all go search the mall again, see if you can find any severed limbs," Wu Heng ordered.
All the skeletons started moving.
Cleaning the battlefield, several skeletons went back into the mall to collect severed limbs.
Wu Heng turned to Qi Hancai.
"It's too late. Make do in the car for tonight, tomorrow morning we'll scavenge the nearby area."
Qi Hancai nodded. "Alright."
The orders were passed on, and the survivors started preparing to rest.
...…
The next day.
Three armored vehicles moved slowly in the distance.
A man in a camouflage uniform, with a worried look, said, "The commander wants us to scout the situation at the roundabout gold shop, what is he thinking? There are so many zombies here. Instead of grabbing gold from the zombies, we might as well attack the old factory area and grab their food."
The man in the front passenger seat said, "We're just scouting, not really attacking."
"The lives of the other brothers count too! Instead of fighting the zombies for gold, taking all the armored cars and raiding the old factory for food would be better," the man continued.
"Maybe the commander doesn't want to ruin relations with the old factory…"
Before he could finish, the armored car suddenly halted.
"What's up? Zombies?"
The man in the fourth seat frowned, fear crossing his face. "Up ahead—are those skeleton soldiers? They've taken the roundabout."
Everyone was stunned.
All eyes turned forward, and the car fell silent.
