The room went deathly silent. Even Su Yan looked up in shock, not expecting Mrs. Han to play her final card so soon.
Xia Yu's heart stopped. She turned quickly, facing Mrs. Han with wide, horrified eyes.
"Madam, please—don't do this…" Her voice was raw with disbelief and pain. All she could see was her mother dying in her arms and the doctor leaving them alone. Tears fell from her eyes like a broken dam. But it was all an act in Mrs Han's eyes.
"I never wanted to come between you and your son. I would never—" But Mrs. Han didn't even look at her.
