Chapter 25 - A Frozen Demon Thrall is a good Demon thrall

Rachel sat in the air, the thrall's dead eyes directly in front of her. She pulled at his fate as it flowed before her like tributaries of a slow moving river. She watched as the thrall formed. It was a draco-demon originally and it wielded ailment and soul magics and used them to kill millions of its kind. As it formed into a thrall its soul well split in two. One moved from its central position to a point near its tail.

Rachel watched as his identity went to the portion near his tail and his ability grew in the one that remained centrally.

A slow smile grew across her lips.

Rebecca scoffed. "I hate when you get your evil scientist look. You have discovered something interesting?"

"Very."

Rachel looked at the dark gem her Atrunie brought her and then she stored it away in a dimensional storage band around her waist.

She looked at Struns carefully, when she noticed the silver hairs she raised an eyebrow. 'Was the thrall so strong that he had to use evolution sorcery?' Her thoughts didn't slow her healing and when he was fully healed the silver hairs retracted.

She sighed. "He can wait. Let's go clean up his mess."

A broad door of deep amber appeared. Animals trapped in the amber trembled as the opaque door swung open. Rachel and her Antrunie walked through the entrance and into a brightly lit tunnel. They stopped for a moment to allow their eyes time to adjust to the light.

"We need to get to the formation. Struns rest, that sorcery stripped too much from you, don't use too much magic for a while. Rebecca bring forth a few of your sorcerers."

They both nodded and followed Rachel through the tunnel - animals of unknown origin wriggled within the amber walls - the three paying them little attention.

They walked from the amber tunnel into a brightly lit dimension. The land was a deep green but there was no grass, trees or flora of any kind. Only bacteria, fungus, and microorganisms thrived in this place now. The three stood on a platform of amber that led from the door to stairs covered in the same green that flooded the dimension.

A broad road of rainbow light formed before them and expanded out ward. It curved to the east and then to the south. They began walking across the road in silence. Rachel broke the silence after walking a short while.

"This thrall has caused extensive damage to the realm. It will be an insane amount if clean up."

Rebecca nodded. "I think with a part of his soul well trapped his knots will dissipate on their own."

Rachel shook her head. "I doubt it. He has an odd soul well. I think he was on the verge of another evolution - he may have been close to realm status."

Both Rebecca and Struns were shocked into silence. They had just fought a being of that level?

They came to a set of brass stairs and an old brass door scraped open at the top of them as they approached. A warm breeze wafted through the door and they sensed intense colors flowing through them.

For the Antrunie it was an odd sensation, for Rachel it was the realm naturally balancing itself.

The rainbow road extended to the door and they walked through without hesitation. The vibrant green had spread along the road as if it fed on the light. When the road disappeared it fluttered to the ground like dust.

They walked out of another huge brass door below Sibba. Cramnal was there waiting. His stern face welcome sight.

They walked to a tent set up below Sibba. Rachel simply found a seat and closed her eyes without a word.

A few minutes later there was a meeting in the center of the encampment. The encampment set in seeded clouds brought together by vibrant magics. It was a simple, basic technique that all Azmin knew.

There was a ring of light in the center that created and circulated the magic that maintained and defended the "ship".

The meeting was being held within this ring of trees.

Rachel already told everyone what needed to be done. She explained the demon thrall, its purpose to cause disease and its two previous visits to Trannisa.

Now they were trying to decide the best way to proceed. Rachel merely listened. Rebecca and Struns sat on either side of her and they also said nothing, but they seemed to pay closer attention than Rachel.

It was decided that Rachel, her two Antrunie, her siblings, and the commanders of the Azmin Guard would go into the Abyss to focus the formation and use its power to "sanitize" the abyss. They chose three subcommanders to lead the guard in protecting Sibba continent and monitor realm fate maps.

When all was decided Rachel sat forward. "I want to apologize to you all. I have been on a private mission to avenge Milana Lanncey and I have caused harm to our realm." She held up her hand as she saw people wanting to protest.

"I am not saying that I do not have the realm's full support or that I want to step down as Milana. I am saying that I will change how I approach my duties. I will still seek revenge but I will do it along side my duties to the realm. It will not be a blind focus.

"The realm wants us to reunite, and fight together as we have in the past. We will clean things up and make sure the balance is maintained. This I promise you."

She stood and walked from the meeting.

'We will discuss how to deal with you going to Small Coloe after. We will continue with the tribunal. I am sure Justice Angelica will know what to do.'

Shain smiled as his sister's words slid through his soul. 'Yes she will know, I will contact her before we begin.'

'Good. All of this affects the balance, and our realm's truth.'
