Ju Mengmeng's phone call had been unsuccessful, and she was filled with panic. After crawling out of her bed, she suddenly realized that someone was now occupying the empty hospital bed beside her.
Since she had been admitted, a full day had elapsed, yet the belongings on that bed remained untouched, and the water in the thermos on the bedside-table was still half full. She had thought the patient had been preparing for discharge, but who would have guessed they were now back in a patient gown?
However, having stayed here for a few days, Ju Mengmeng, after some thought and much hesitation, couldn't help but ask, "Hey, how long have you been here for?"
The boy in the neighboring bed looked at her, put down his cellphone, and asked with a teasing smile, "What's up? Is there something wrong?"
He appeared somewhat taller, but his face still bore traces of youthfulness, clearly indicating his young age; he was probably a high school student.
