Chapter 180 - The Massacre at the Fortress [180]

Ra's stepped forward. The silence shattered with a dry command, heavy with absolute authority.

"Kill them all."

The sound echoed like a blade in the heart of the hall.

SHHHK

Short blades were unsheathed in perfect sync. The hiss of steel against scabbards rippled in waves, like a hidden war song.

The ninjas moved like shadows. To ordinary eyes, they were too fast to be comprehended. But to Clark, every motion was slow, every step revealed as if time itself were dragged by invisible chains.

Diana raised her shield, steady. Her eyes lit with the fire of battle, her blade gleaming bright beneath the torches of the hall.

The first impact struck direct.

CLANG

Short swords clashed against the Amazon's shield, sparking on impact. Diana spun, her blade cutting in an arc, and two warriors fell with no chance to react.

Clark advanced straight ahead. His eyes burned red-hot.

FWOOSH

The beam ripped through an entire line, melting steel and stone. Ninjas were thrown back, shadows twisted on walls warped by the heat.

Still, more charged forward without fear. No hesitation. Only absolute discipline.

Diana moved like thunder. Her shield crushed bones, her sword shredded armor. The hall reverberated with the sounds of battle.

THUMP

CLANG

KRRSHH

Clark vanished in a blur.

ZZZMMM

In less than a second, he crossed the hall, striking three warriors with enough force to split the floor in cracks. The echo thundered deep.

He reappeared at Diana's side, chest lifted, eyes on the army still tightening its circle around them.

'These ninjas aren't ordinary. Precise, fast, trained to kill without hesitation. But with Diana here… it doesn't matter how many. She can hold them all.'

Clark glanced at her. Diana spun her blade with firm grip, her gaze sparking with anticipation.

"Take them."

Her smile bloomed instantly, eager, almost defiant.

"With pleasure."

Clark tilted his head lightly and, in the blink of an eye, disappeared. Intangibility spread through every atom, turning him unseen even to sharpened senses.

WHSSHH

He was gone from sight. Only the ripple of air betrayed the shift in space.

Diana stood alone before the sea of warriors. The tense silence before slaughter broke when the first lunged.

CLANG

The short blade struck her shield, the impact reverberating through her arms. Diana countered with a clean cut, her sword slicing past the enemy's guard.

Two more followed at once.

THUMP

CRACK

Her shield crushed one's skull, her blade pierced another's armor. Blood stained the floor, yet the Amazon held her confident smile, unbroken in rhythm.

Ten more leapt in unison, shadows cast wide above her. Diana spun, raising her shield overhead.

BOOOM

The collective strike rang out, but none survived her counter. One swift whirl of the blade delivered consecutive cuts, dropping each in flawless succession.

The hall trembled with the League's advance. Hundreds moved at once, waves without end.

But Diana did not retreat. Her shield blocked every strike, her sword answered with brutal precision. Her smile held, not as mockery, but as celebration of war.

CLANG

Weapons ricocheted off her golden shield. Diana spun, her blade carving a perfect arc that left three bodies on the ground. Blood stained the stone, yet the hall remained indifferent.

Ra's al Ghul watched. His expression betrayed no anger. Instead, his eyes narrowed in something close to admiration.

'This girl is a true warrior.'

Clark crossed the hall unseen, slipping beyond normal perception. Every step calculated, every molecule vibrating between the physical and the intangible. He wasn't aiming at soldiers. He was aiming at the center. Ra's.

The man's body radiated power. Not physical. Not just aura. An invisible pressure spread outward like desert heatwaves. Ancient energy, sharpened through rituals older than modern science.

Clark drew closer. His eyes half-closed, red sparks glinting. His mind prepared to pierce, to sift through layers of memory, secrets, plans.

'Before I end him, I want to know what's behind all this… and Bruce's role in this world.'

[S Kal-El, stop now. There is magic in him. Even your psychic power is not enough and could put you at risk.]

'Understood.'

The tension shifted. Clark sheathed his mental blade, trading curiosity for cold resolve. The goal wasn't knowledge. It was finality.

Ra's turned his face toward the empty space at his side, as if sensing a storm in stone corridors. His eyes narrowed, piercing the void.

"Even invisible, I can still feel your presence, boy. Be a warrior like your friend. Show yourself."

Clark broke invisibility in a blink. Air rippled before Ra's and his figure appeared whole, steady, dust swirling about his shoulders like the edge of a mantle.

WHSSHH

Behind, Diana still held the line. Her shield crushed another strike, her blade cut down three in a sweep, and the ring of warriors stepped half a pace back to regroup.

CLANG

Clark lifted his chin a fraction. The decision was already made.

"How did you know where I was?"

His voice was steady, unhurried.

Ra's straightened his stance. His gaze carried no surprise, only certainty.

"The master of shadows guides my steps. Nothing escapes the sight of Barbatos. Not even you."

The name cut through the hall like hot iron in flesh.

Clark's jaw clenched.

'Barbatos. Didn't that have to do with the Laughing Batman and those dimensional stories? Doesn't matter now. If Barbatos appears here, I can't stop him. I have to kill Ra's and Bruce first.'

The thought hardened in him like forged steel. The danger was greater than expected. Waiting was not an option.

The air shifted as Clark stepped forward. Electricity coursed through his body, particles aligning in rhythm only he could sense. Space around him stretched and contracted, ready to tear.

'Speed Force.'

ZZZMMM

Time bent under its touch. Dust grains froze in midair. Droplets of blood falling from blades hung suspended like shards of frozen glass.

Clark moved.

WHOOOSH

His fist cut straight through the distance, fast enough to shred stone and steel. The strike aimed at Ra's face, power condensed to reduce bone to powder in less than a second.

But it met no flesh.

SHHHHH

Ra's body dissolved into black smoke, a living shadow projected outward. Clark's fist struck only emptiness, air twisting at impact, the floor beneath cracking under invisible pressure.

KRRRAAACK

The hall shook with the voided strike. Cracks spread across the stone like broken veins, the sound booming like trapped thunder. Diana raised her shield to block debris, her smile still fierce under the blood of her foes.

Ra's reformed a few steps away, solid once more. His eyes burned with a dark gleam, his hands clasped calmly behind his back as if he had never moved.

Clark narrowed his eyes. His fist, still suspended in the air, carried the residue of absolute speed.

"Intangible?"

His voice was low, calculated, cold.

"So this is what my enemies feel like."

Ra's stepped forward. Shadows in the hall stirred, breathing in rhythm with him. His arm rose slowly, conjuring a blade. Not mere metal. Steel wrapped in living darkness, writhing like serpents bound to an ancient bone.

SHHHHH

The sword dripped dark smoke. Each drop that hit the floor burned stone into blackened circles.

Clark held steady. His gaze scanned the blade, analyzing.

'Better not trust Kryptonian flesh. Magic can hurt me.'

Ra's spun the sword in the air. Its sound was a whisper, like hundreds of voices chanting in dead tongues. Cold swept the hall in waves, smothering even torchlight.

Diana crushed more foes at the rear. Her shield collided with two blades at once, hurling the warriors against the wall with broken bones. Her smile did not falter.

CLANG

THUMP

Clark drew a deep breath. Energy surged through his muscles, the Speed Force drumming in his veins. His eyes glowed red.

Ra's raised his sword. The shadow swelled, cloaking the columns like a living veil.

"Neither your speed nor your strength will save you from the master's blade."

Clark tilted his head slightly, his voice firm, unwavering.

"Then come. Let's see if your shadow survives the light."
