Chapter 29 - Interference

The mountain crumbled on top of Florka.

Orced waited nearby. After a few seconds the rocks began to move.

"Are you still alive down there? I don't want to end our little reunion just yet."

A jet of flames blasted from his mouth. The rocks flew.

Florka appeared from behind the rocks.

"Can't you shut up?"

Orced said "Not when your so entertaining."

"I'll wipe that grin off your face."

Orced grins again "I said that five minutes ago."

Florka clenched his fists. The ground under him turned to ice. Moments later, the ice became covered in flames.

"You always do this. You don't care about anything. You're rude and belittle people but you act like you are doing them a favour."

Orced put a finger to his face "I'm not wrong am I?"

Florka charged. "Just shut up."

Orced barely moved in time for a fireball to explode between them. "Oooh, here we go. This is getting interesting"

He went flying backwards but managed to stop himself from falling. "Gotcha you filth"

Florka attacked again "You think your funny? Your a shameless son of a bitch"

A rush of cold air blew throughout the forest.

Orced jumped out of the way.

"You're getting predictable."

"And annoying."

"Indeed."

Florka raised his hand. A series of explosions blasted at Orced. "Wow, bro still get it"

He had to keep moving. He dodged the first two, shielded the third but was hit by the forth.

He crashed into a tree.

Florka didn't let him recover.

"Still got something to say?"

Orced stepped back from the broken tree and brushed some dirt from his clothes.

"Actually, yes."

Florka stared.

"You are ridiculous."

"I've been told."

"Do you think you are better than me?"

Orced tilted his head.

"Would you like the truth?"

"I want you to stop treating me like a joke."

"Stop acting like one."

Florka's expression changed.

For a second he didn't move. Then the temperature dropped rapidly around him. The trees nearby were covered in ice.

"Fine. Let's see how funny you are when you can't move."

The ground under Orced started to freeze. Ice crept up his feet and legs.

Florka clenched his fist.

The ice shattered.

A powerful gust of wind blew sending shards of ice everywhere. When the dust had settled Orced was nowhere to be seen.

Florka looked around.

"Where are you?"

"Behind you."

Florka turned around. Orced was already there. He punched him in the face sending him sliding through the trees.

He caught himself with one hand.

"Janman again? I'm so fed up with that."

"Get used to it."

Florka wiped his mouth.

"I've had worse."

"Yeah?"

"Yes!"

"Name one."

Florka blasted a fireball at him.

Orced moved.

"You didn't answer."

Florka blasted another from the opposite side. Orced dodged but Florka changed his attack. A large gust of cold air blasted upwards from the ground. Orced was hit from below.

He was thrown into the air.

Florka attacked. He blasted a series of attacks at Orced. Fire, ice and explosions. Orced dodged where he could and blocked but a few hits landed.

He hit the ground hard.

"Now do you understand?"

Orced slowly got back up.

"What?"

"You aren't the same person I knew."

"Oh I noticed."

"So stop talking to me like I'm still a pathetic kid trying to impress you."

Orced stayed calm.

"You're right. I'm not a kid anymore."

Florka paused.

"So why—"

"Because you're still trying to impress me."

Florka's face twisted in anger.

"Look at you. You travelled all this way to fight me. You could've just asked me what I thought of you but you knew I wouldn't say what you wanted so you decided to make me tell you."

"I'm not here for that."

"Why are you here then?"

Florka didn't reply.

"Come on. You've been shouting at me for ages. Just say one truthful sentence."

"I'm here to sort things out."

"What things?"

"Everything."

"That's a bit vague."

Florka roared and charged.

This time Orced didn't dodge.

They both attacked each other causing a shockwave to ripple through the forest. Trees nearby snapped. Flames spread across the ground.

Florka pushed harder.

"You think you know everything about me!"

"No. I know enough."

"It's your fault I am like this!"

Orced finally lost his smile.

"Don't blame me."

"Who else? You were always ahead of me. Everyone listened to you and complimented you. Every time I tried to do something myself you would always tell me what I had done wrong!"

"Because you keep messing up."Even now! You're still doing it!"Because you still haven't learnt!"

Florka blasted a jet of flames. Orced blocked but was pushed back.

Florka raised both his hands.

"Try telling me that!"

A huge gust of wind blew.

Kruna looked up from controlling the flames around them.

"Orced!"

The explosion caused the forest to shake. Kruna couldn't see either of them through the smoke.

Florka appeared.

Orced wasn't far behind. His clothes were ripped and he was panting more but he was still standing.

Florka laughed.

"What's wrong? Tired?"

"Not really."

"You don't have to lie."

"I'm not. I'm just wondering when you are going to do something interesting."

Florka stopped laughing.

"Interesting?"

He raised his arms. The ground under Orced shattered. Ice crept into the cracks. Flames erupted from the ground. They collided and exploded. Orced was caught in the middle.

Kruna took a step forward.

He stopped when the smoke cleared.

Orced was on one knee. Florka was above him ready to attack.

"Stay down. For once in your life just stay down."

Orced looked up.

"You first."

Florka attacked.

A wall of water appeared.

It hit him. It split the water but gave Orced time to move.

They both looked at Kruna.

"Really? I told you to stay back."

"I did."

"Obviously."

"I stayed back until you started getting hit in the head."

Florka glared.

"This doesn't concern you."

Kruna walked past Orced.

"So why are you fighting him?"

"Move."

"No."

Florka's eyes narrowed.

"Did you not hear me?"

"Yes. But I don't care."

Orced stood up behind him.

"Kruna, don't get involved."

Kruna looked behind him.

"You can carry on fighting him when I'm finished."

Orced raised an eyebrow.

"When you're finished?"

"Yes."

"And what makes you think he will fight you?"

Kruna looked at Florka.

"He looks like he wants to fight anyone right now."

"That's true. Move."

Kruna shook his head.

"You've had fun with Orced. Try me."

Florka glared. He let out a bitter laugh.

"Do you think you can fight me?"

"We'll see."

"Kruna!" Orced warned.

But Kruna didn't move.

Florka raised his hand. A fireball appeared in his palm.

"Fine. I'll sort you out first."

Kruna unsheathed his twin blades.

"Go on then."

Florka attacked.

Kruna charged. He slashed through the attack. They met in the middle of the clearing. They clashed sending another shockwave through the forest.

Florka blasted a gust of ice pushing Kruna back.

He slid along the ground. He steadied himself.

"Not bad."

"Don't patronize me!

"Yes I am. You would know if I wasn't."

Florka charged.

This time Kruna charged at him.

Orced watched his expression remained neutral.

"Well this should be interesting."
