Time had passed unknowingly. When Seimei sensed that more than half of his chakra had been consumed, he suddenly regained clarity.
Perched on the giant rock, he opened his eyes. With a thought, he pulled up his proficiency panel.
He immediately noticed that under the "Bloodline" section, the evolution progress of his Byakugan had increased from (100/1000) to (102/1000)—an improvement of two points.
Next, he checked his chakra consumption.
After a quick calculation, he came to a conclusion: those two points of evolution had cost him roughly 200,000 chakra points.
In other words, it took an average of 100,000 chakra points to raise the Byakugan's evolution progress by just one point.
There was no doubt—this was an enormous expenditure.
However, when he thought about the other members of the Hyuga clan, who could spend their entire lives without seeing any noticeable change in their Byakugan, he didn't feel too bad about it.
In fact, he even felt fortunate. With the panel's assistance, he could directly enhance his Byakugan's evolution using chakra. Without it, he'd have to find an alternative method—one that might take an unknown amount of time.
All things considered, it was still an acceptable cost.
Reining in his thoughts, Seimei refocused on the Byakugan.
Now that he had confirmed it could evolve this way and understood the chakra cost, there were still many unanswered questions:
How much progress could he make per day? Was there a limit? If so, where was that limit?
He had no answers yet.
So, more testing was needed.
With that in mind, Seimei reached into his ninja tool pouch and pulled out the sealed metal sphere containing the Seven-Tails.
Without hesitation, he formed a seal and activated Chakra Absorption Technique.
Immediately, an overwhelming surge of chakra flowed into his body like a tidal wave.
One second… two seconds… three seconds…
One minute… two minutes… three minutes…
Before long, his body reached its maximum chakra capacity.
Seimei then split his focus: while continuing to absorb the Seven-Tails' chakra, he activated the "All-Encompassing Seal" on his forehead to extract excess chakra from his body.
A soft drip-drop sound filled the air. One by one, droplets of chakra materialized out of thin air, forming a small stream that gathered at the bottom of the sealed space.
Time continued to tick away.
After eight to nine minutes, Seimei had extracted about 500,000 chakra points from the Seven-Tails before halting the Chakra Absorption Technique.
It wasn't that he didn't want to keep going—rather, the Seven-Tails couldn't endure losing so much chakra in such a short period. It needed time to recover.
But why was the Seven-Tails struggling after just 500,000 chakra points, when it could normally provide 1,000,000 per day?
The answer was simple.
It was the same reason Seimei himself could regenerate over a million chakra points daily but couldn't release 500,000 all at once.
Both he and the Seven-Tails had limits on how much chakra they could extract in a short period.
In the past, when Seimei forcefully condensed his daily chakra regeneration into a single burst, the process still took hours.
Now, pulling 500,000 chakra points in under ten minutes was far beyond what either of them could handle.
Thus, they had to pause and let the Seven-Tails recover.
Still, for now, 500,000 chakra points were enough.
With that in mind, Seimei once again linked the "All-Encompassing Seal" to his Byakugan.
A familiar, cold sensation washed over him. Closing his eyes in comfort, he let his Byakugan absorb the heavily compressed chakra, fueling its evolution.
---
Time continued to pass.
By midday, the 500,000 chakra points Seimei had extracted from the Seven-Tails earlier were completely used up.
He checked his panel and saw that his Byakugan's evolution progress had increased by another five points, from (102/1000) to (107/1000).
The efficiency hadn't decreased, meaning he had yet to hit the limit.
Without wasting any time, Seimei ate a few enhanced ration pills to fill his stomach. Then, he grabbed the metal sphere once more and activated Chakra Absorption Technique again.
Eight minutes later, another 500,000 chakra points flowed into him.
This time, the Seven-Tails was completely drained, falling into a weakened state.
Seimei stored the sphere away.
Then, refocusing his mind, he resumed evolving his Byakugan.
---
Two hours later…
When his Byakugan's evolution progress reached (110/1000), Seimei felt a clear sense of resistance.
He continued trying for a while, but the chakra he poured in no longer had the same effect. Instead of fueling further evolution, most of it simply dispersed.
Opening his eyes, Seimei glanced at his panel and muttered,
"Ten proficiency points per day… so that's the limit."
At this rate, it would take him at least ninety days—three months—to reach the next evolution stage.
And in total, he would need about 9,000,000 chakra points.
Compared to upgrading a Sharingan from single tomoe to double tomoe, this was far more difficult.
But there was nothing he could do about it.
For the Sharingan, he had Mind Reflection Jutsu and the bloodline support from this body.
For the Byakugan, however, he had no shortcuts—just grinding through chakra consumption.
So, naturally, the difficulty was higher.
Still, as long as improvement was possible, it didn't matter.
Of course, achieving the fastest possible evolution wasn't realistic either.
Simply put, he only had 400,000 chakra points available for daily use, which translated to just four proficiency points per day—far from the daily limit of ten.
So, reaching the next stage would take much longer than three months.
Fortunately, Seimei wasn't in a rush.
He could take his time.
With that settled, Seimei turned his focus elsewhere.
He now had 600,000 chakra points to allocate, plus 150,000 saved from maxing out "Water Release: Great Exploding Water Shockwave."
For now, he ignored the latter.
As for the former, 200,000 chakra points had already been spent on daily training (extracted from Shemu), leaving 400,000 to allocate.
He turned his attention to Izanagi, Izanami, Demonic Illusion: Mirror Heaven and Earth Change, and Transcription Seal.
He had already tested the first two.
Due to certain limitations, they could each gain a maximum of 500 proficiency points per day, consuming 250,000 chakra points total.
Without hesitation, Seimei maxed them out.
This left him with 300,000 chakra points.
After some thought, he allocated:
- 120,000 to Demonic Illusion: Mirror Heaven and Earth Change
- 180,000 to Transcription Seal
With this, he could gain 1,200 proficiency points daily for the former and 1,500 for the latter.
At this pace, progress was solid.
