Next to his mother sat the little prince Tommen, a chubby child, a little younger than Bran.
Noticing Jason Liu's eyes sweeping over them, little Tommen turned his head shyly.
At the foot of the steps stood two Kingsguard in white capes. One was a stranger, but the other wore golden armor so dazzling it could almost blind someone. He was easy to recognize.
Jaime Lannister had short blond hair, was tall and handsome, with a high nose and fair skin. It seemed that Joffrey had inherited his good looks.
As for the dignitaries from the king's realm seated below, Jason Liu didn't know them, so he merely glanced over them.
In just ten seconds, Jason Liu had already observed the main people of King's Landing.
He hurriedly responded to His Majesty's words. "Yes, Your Majesty. I have brought gifts for you, Her Majesty the Queen, the Prince. Please allow my men to bring them in—"
Robert nodded, and the thick wooden door echoed through the hall. "Then what are you waiting for? Let them in!"
Jason Liu walked to the door of the hall and summoned Dicken and the others. Chris and Rubin, who had just returned the horses, were already back. He had the four of them bring out the gifts for the royal family from the carriage and then enter the hall.
The Stark family had already received gifts from Jason Liu, so they were not curious in the slightest.
But the king's family and the nobles present were curious about what kind of gift this young foreign count had brought.
"Your Majesty, this is the special armor I've brought for you and Prince Joffrey," Jason said. "A stab-proof suit—it can resist slashes, stabs, cuts..."
Jason Liu took two glittering stab-proof suits from Kent and displayed them before the king.
"Anti-stab suits? Can clothes be used as armor?" His Majesty Robert looked skeptical.
Joffrey was also a bit curious. It was the first time he had heard of soft clothing being referred to as armor.
"Ser Jaime, could you please try it with your sword?" Jason Liu asked, and had Rubin and Kent hold the stab-proof suit while inviting the Kingslayer, standing below the steps, to test it himself.
"—Let me try?" Jaime smiled slightly. He, too, was curious whether this soft-looking fabric could truly withstand his sword.
"Kingslayer! Give it a good test with your sword—let's see if it's as useful as he claims!" Before Jason Liu could say another word, King Robert had already ordered loudly.
Hearing the word "Kingslayer" from the king, Jason Liu instinctively looked at Jaime's face, but it seemed he was used to being addressed that way. Although it might have upset him, not a trace of emotion appeared on Jaime's face.
Jaime Lannister drew his sword with the same light smile and walked up to the stab-proof suit held steady by Kent and Rubin.
"—Huh?" Ser Jaime raised an eyebrow in surprise when he saw that there wasn't even a scratch on the golden suit.
"—It didn't break?!"
"What's going on? Can something like this really work as armor?"
"Ser Jaime, try again—with more force!"
The nobles of the realm were astonished and urged Ser Jaime to strike again.
King Robert's large body leaned forward slightly; he was clearly intrigued.
The queen, however, was entirely uninterested in the swords and armor the men adored. She instead glanced at the dozen or so finely wrapped paper bags Dicken held and wondered what was inside.
Chi chi—
Ser Jaime gripped the sword with both hands and continued slashing and stabbing the stab-proof suit. After several minutes of effort, he was slightly sweating from exhaustion. Despite the repeated blows, the suit remained undamaged.
"It's true. My sword couldn't harm this... stab suit, was it?" Ser Jaime returned the sword to its scabbard and looked at Jason Liu.
"That's right. A stab-proof suit comparable to armor!" Jason Liu gestured for Rubin and Kent to present the suit.
Ser Jaime couldn't help but reach out and touch the golden fabric, his eyes filled with admiration and desire.
For all warriors, their sword and armor were their most treasured possessions. To have such a lightweight suit would be a great advantage in battle.
After watching Jaime test the suit, King Robert asked Lancel, the sommelier beside him, to bring it over.
Lancel set down the jug and goblet and hurried down the steps to retrieve the suit from Rubin.
Due to Robert's large build, this suit was the biggest size Jason Liu had specially ordered from the manufacturer.
With Lancel's assistance, King Robert personally donned the golden stab-proof suit. As he moved his large body, he couldn't help laughing. "Hahaha! Excellent—far lighter than those damned iron cans!"
Shaking himself, Robert took a few steps across the platform. His flushed, fat face glowed with satisfaction. He turned to Jason Liu standing below.
"Jason East, this is my favorite gift so far—I like it very much."
"It is my honor to receive Your Majesty's favor!"
Jason Liu smiled, then signaled Rubin to bring out two high-carbon steel swords for the king and Prince Joffrey.
"In addition to the stab-proof suit, Your Majesty, I also prepared two swords for you and Prince Joffrey. I believe you'll find them just as satisfying."
Joffrey's eyes lit up when he saw the golden suit meant for him and the beautifully adorned sword with a gem-studded scabbard. He was instantly captivated.
Suddenly, the lionheart sword hanging at his waist no longer felt impressive. Compared to the ornate weapon gifted by Lord East, his own seemed plain and undeserving of his royal status.
Joffrey descended the steps, eyed the two swords in Rubin's hands, and picked one up with interest. He looked at Jason Liu with bright green eyes.
"You said your sword is as good as your stab suit? Then let me test it myself!"
Without waiting for anyone to speak, Joffrey grabbed one of the high-carbon steel swords and tossed his lionheart sword to his uncle—his real father—Jaime.
"Uncle, come on, let's try out this Lord East's sword!"
King Robert removed his stab-proof suit, tossed it to Lancel for safekeeping, and returned to his seat, watching Joffrey's sword test with great interest.
