Chapter 293 - 293. King is Satisfied

"Jaime, be careful, don't hurt Joffrey!" Cersei said worriedly.

Jaime shrugged and gave Cersei a smile. "Don't worry, I won't hurt him."

Jaime drew the Lionheart sword, and Joffrey drew the beautifully decorated high-carbon steel sword.

Joffrey looked at the exquisite decoration on the sword in his hand—the shiny golden blade—and was very satisfied.

Dang, dang—

Joffrey held his sword with both hands and attacked Jaime, the golden blade flashing again and again.

Compared to Joffrey, who was doing his best to attack, Jaime held his sword in one hand with a relaxed expression and casually swung it, blocking Joffrey's "wild assault" every time.

It was truly wild—like a child swinging a stick at random. Jaime couldn't help but wonder whether Joffrey had learned any swordsmanship at all over the past few years.

This swordsmanship is terrible!

The two crossed swords for a few minutes. Joffrey gradually became exhausted; his face flushed slightly, his breath came in gasps, and he slowly lowered his blade.

"You need more practice, Joffrey," Jaime said, shaking his head. He shot a dissatisfied look at his sister, Cersei. How could Joffrey be this bad at swordplay unless she'd spoiled him terribly?

Joffrey's fair face turned red as he was scolded by his uncle, his expression a mix of anger and embarrassment.

When Jaime raised the Lionheart sword, everyone present couldn't help but gasp.

The once-bright blade of the Lionheart sword was now full of nicks and cuts.

But the sword in Joffrey's hand remained flawless—smooth, gleaming gold under the light, completely unharmed.

"This is truly a rare sword. I'm afraid only Valyria could produce something like this," Jaime said with admiration.

"Great! I want this sword!" Joffrey exclaimed happily, clearly delighted by the weapon's resilience.

"It is indeed a remarkable blade. I'm very satisfied with this gift!" Robert said, gesturing for an attendant to take the sword. His bushy beard shifted with his grin.

"In addition to gifts for His Majesty and Prince Joffrey, there are also gifts for the Queennand Prince Tommen."

Jason Liu gestured to the more than ten exquisite paper bags in Dicken's hands and gave a small bow to Queen Cersei, who sat above them. "As for how to use these gifts, Her Majesty the Queen may consult Lady Catelyn. I've already explained them to her."

The Queen's eyes immediately turned to Catelyn, and both Princess Myrcella and young Prince Tommen looked toward her with eager curiosity.

Sansa and Arya weren't curious at all—they'd already tried the items.

"Yes, Your Majesty. If you allow, we can go to your chambers later, and I will explain the gifts to you one by one," Lady Catelyn said with a smile, bowing slightly.

"Of course. I'm looking forward to it!" Cersei replied with a gracious smile.

Then Jason Liu introduced two luxurious four-wheeled carriages specially crafted for the royal family. "If I may, I'd like to invite Your Majesty and Her Majesty the Queen to take a short ride in one of the carriages outside."

"A carriage?" King Robert looked intrigued and turned to his good brother, Eddard.

Eddard nodded. "Your Majesty, this carriage is more comfortable than any in Westeros. Once you try it, I'm sure you'll agree."

So the King, Queen, princes, and several dignitaries walked out of the hall and into the courtyard, where they boarded the two carriages.

Since the school grounds of Winterfell were occupied by the royal encampment, they asked the King's permission to ride the carriages directly out of Winterfell and around the castle.

When they returned and disembarked, everyone was astonished. The ride had been so smooth—it far outshone the giant wooden "wheel palace" they'd traveled in before.

"Seven hells! I didn't know a carriage could be this smooth—"

King Robert reached out and patted the steel side of the carriage, letting out a hearty sigh. "Compared to this luxurious steel carriage, our wooden wheel palace should be chopped up for firewood!"

"For once, we agree," Cersei said, raising her smooth chin slightly. She glanced sideways at her husband, then turned to Jason Liu. "Earl East, your carriages are excellent. I'm very satisfied."

"Thank you for your appreciation, Your Majesty," Jason Liu replied with a modest smile. He felt the gifts had served their purpose. He believed Cersei—eccentric as she was—would not oppose his future plans.

The nobles from King's Landing were also full of praise for the carriage. Some even approached Jason Liu, eager to purchase one.

After all, traveling thousands of miles back from the North to King's Landing would be far more bearable in a carriage like this.

"My lords, you may speak to Ser Kent. He'll give you all the details about the carriage..."

Jason Liu didn't have the time or interest to handle these talks himself and left it to Kent.

Back in the hall, the royal family continued discussing how comfortable the carriage had been. They even talked about discarding the wooden wheel palace altogether and returning to King's Landing in the new carriages.

"Your Majesty, I have one more gift for you—a magical solar lighting system. Look up," Jason Liu said, pointing to the three energy-saving lamps hanging from the ceiling. "Thanks to these, the hall is as bright as daylight inside."

"I noticed those things emitting such bright light. There's no way candles or oil lamps could produce something like this..."

Robert stroked his beard and gestured for his young sommelier to pour him a drink. After a pleasant carriage ride, the King naturally wanted some wine.

Lancel poured the wine with practiced ease and handed it to the King.

Jason Liu then explained the solar lighting system in detail, emphasizing its benefits and installation process.

He even offered to install a solar power system capable of lighting the entire Red Keep—at no cost.

The King didn't care about the technicalities, but he was intrigued by the idea of receiving such an expensive setup for free.

"Lord Jason East—well, I'll just call you Master Jason. Tell me, what exactly do you want in return for all these rare and extraordinary gifts?"

As Jason Liu started to bow again, King Robert waved him off.

"Alright, alright... I don't know what it is you want from me, but—"
