Chapter 194 - Chapter 174: Here we are … in the Future …

Summary:

As things go wrong

Blue Pearl double checked the lines she had. "We're live in ten seconds everyone!" An Agate shouted. "Places, and if anything goes wrong I will personally …" She got a look from some Topaz, and began coughing. "Personally … be very disappointed."

"An Agate being afraid of a Topaz, I'd never thought I'd see the day." Her yellow counterpart snickered. "Almost as unbelievable as two Pearl's being in charge of all this equipment."

"I just wanted to be heard. Didn't think over one hundred thousand life forms would be subscribing to listen to our thoughts." Blue Pearl agreed with Yellow Pearl. "It's crazy how much our lives changed."

"Yep … and now everyone sees my flawless face." It was a six at best.

"And action!"

"Welcome to Gem news. We're your hosts, Pearls." Yellow Pearl spoke in her dramatic flamboyant introduction. "Your guide to everything running in the Gem Homeworld, from the smallest pebble to the largest diamond!"

"Speaking of, it's been roughly around two years since our once strict, ruthless, and feared matriarchs began the disassembly of their empire after ruling for nearly over two Millennia." Blue continued, speaking gently and softly. "While there has been a few gems that cling to the past, the vast majority of the homeworld have embraced the changes ushered in by Era three."

"Now today we bring you live coverage of the Diamond's, who will be personally belaying a special announcement that the entire galaxy will no doubt want to hear." Yellow Pearl pointed to the camera gems to get the feed ready. "Especially given how much free time the three of them have when they're not talking about you know who."

"Give it up for Steven Universe." She gave a gentle smile as the footage showed off the boy in question. "The boy has been doing quite a lot in the past two years, so many negotiations with neighboring empires, some of which have yielded less than stellar results, like with the Incursions and Highbreed."

"And let us not forget the incident he had with the tetramand princess, nearly becoming betrothed to her after a meeting went completely sideways."

"But despite those setbacks, he has proven time and time again to stand by his morals, working for peace for a new age. Including working on restoring the United Galactic Federation once demolished by Vilgax the conqueror." She stated. "And has made great progress in dismantaling the terrorist group known as the Galactic Kids Next Door." The galaxy for once seemed like a not so chaotic place. Who knew talking to other species could get so much done.

Music began playing as the unmistakable humming of the Diamond's could be heard. "Looks like the Diamond's are getting ready to deliver their message. Let's see exactly what's on their minds."

The all turned to the Diamond's, who for some reason hid themselves behind a numerous assortment of curtains before unveiling themselves. Guess the eloquence was just apart of their personalities after over several lifetimes of enforcing it.

"Steven, Everyone believes in…" Once before, it was a rare sight to hear White Diamond even talk in person, let alone sing.

"Everyone believes in …" And it was even rarer to hear all three Diamonds, Yellow and her Blue joining in for a melodious union of sound.

"Steven!" They sang, showing off the boy in question, holding him out on their hands like a pedestal, the boy himself having a cute blush flash on his face. Guess the attention would be overwhelming for even the most confident of people.

"All across the universe."  White, who's mere name had to just be mentioned in order to send shivers down the souls of any gem who heard it, now held a comforting and soothing tone.

"Ever compassionate." Even with her newfound independence, Yellow Pearl couldn't help but swoon at the sound of her former Diamond's vocals.

"Can you imagine it?" Then again, Blue Pearl was in no position either when she heard her Blue Diamond grace the world with her voice.

"Even with us at our worst?" The boy had to be if he was willing to endure everything Homeworld did to his planet. She would've assumed any rational sentient being would've wanted to see them all crumbled into shards after it was all said and done.

"Hybrid son of a Diamond." Something once never thought imaginable.

"Human son of a Rose." Something that once meant instant death on the spot.

"What a revelation, He's a revolution, A Gem that loves and grows!" To grow, to change, something all gems everywhere never even thought was necessary, let alone possible.

"Steven, Have you heard the tale of …" A story that was quickly spreading all across the universe.

"Have you heard the tale of …" A tale that would span the tests of time for as long as their empire stood.

"Steven? Always putting others first! Can you imagine it? Ever compassionate …" They motioned to the boy in question, wide smiles on their faces. "Steven Universe."

"I'm glad to be here, everyone." Steven waved with a nervous laugh. "Even if the fanfare was a bit much …"

Once the instrumentals finished up, White Diamond seemingly pulled up a large book in her hands, filled with illustrations that explained a well detailed explanation of their history. "Once upon a time, the Gem homeworld was ruled by four Diamonds. White, Yellow, Blue, and the littlest one of them all, Pink."

"We tried to expand our empire across the universe, slowly draining life from all planets." Yellow continued. "It all changed when the littlest Diamond was given her own planet."

"Pink Diamond had a very different opinion, an idea for peace that few heard." Blue rubbed the boy's head gently. "Knowing little could be accomplished, she fled the comforts of Homeworld, and began anew on Earth."

"Armed with a new name and alongside new friends, she would spread her ideals everywhere to anyone willing to listen, a journey that even took her outside of the known universe that we live in." White continued on, showing off illustrations of the once feared and hated Rose Quartz on Mewni. "And eventually, she would give up her own form, so that she could give new life to her human child, a boy named Steven."

"Once Steven Universe discovered the full truth of his heritage, he reunited with his fellow Diamonds, and ushered in era three, a new age of peace and freedom all across the galaxy." Blue smiled.

"Yeah….excluding the fact you're who I freed the universe from." The boy mumbled something to himself that no one was really able to hear. "But yeah, we can live in an era without violence and war, trying to just better ourselves." He explained. "Now I know you may be thinking 'hey, is he the new pink diamond'? Well the answer is no, I'm not interested in the throne at all." Steven said. "I already have a home, on earth."

"What?" White Diamond's eyes looked like they were twitching while the other two looked concerned and confused.

"It's a small but simple little town called Beach Creek, where I live with all my friends and family." Steven smiled more as he continued. "And yeah, I've had a great time dismantling the empire and helping gems get to find their place in the universe, but now there's nothing more I want now than to spend quality time with everyone that I love."

White Diamond looked at the camera. "Cut the feed." She said, as the line went dead.

"Well … that happened." Her partner deadpanned. "Up next, weather with a Peridot."

"Rain is NOT acid, who knew!?" So many fascinating little details they were still learning.

========================================================================

"Well, I say that went pretty well." Steven smiled as the cameras rolled away, turning to the clearly disappointed Diamond's.

"Yes, it did … until the end part." Blue muttered the last bit. "Steven, are you really going back to earth?"

He turned back, confused. "Well yeah, I come here for visits, but Earth is my real home." He was pretty sure he'd made this point very obvious since the beginning. "I've been constantly on the move for the past few months, and Beach Creek is where I feel the most comfortable."

"But we can adjust the palace to make it even more comfortable." White said. "We already adjusted ourselves so much for you. I've learned to not eradicate lower-" He sent her a look. "Equal lifeforms."

"I don't make anyone cry anymore, you don't have to fear dehydration around me." Blue got on her knees and made a little begging motion with her hands.

"And I've learned how to fix shattered Gems, and the progress on returning life to the colonies is so close to complete." Yellow was right next to Blue, leaning down to him. "Not to mention that I've disbanded all of my armies."

"Yes, yes you've all made improvements, and I'm very proud of all of you." The fact that made them all squeal both humored and disturbed him. "But I should really get back to Earth now, they might need my help with Nexus City."

"If it's help needed, we have an entire empire at your beck and call." White leaned down. "Just please don't leave."

"You're all we have left of Pink." Blue pouted, and her saying that only cemented his decision even faster.

"Thanks…" He slowly backed himself to the galaxy warp. "But…no thanks."

All three of the Diamond's looked at each other and shared a smile, something that never spelled good news for him…or anyone for that matter."Come live with us in the Palace, There's a room waiting for you." Oh corn, they were singing!

"Come on.

"Come on."

"Come on…"

"Just let us adore you." Why did the Galaxy Warp Pad need such a long charge time!?

"Look, I'm super glad you guys are able to show more affection to people now, but I need to go now." He pressed on the warp harder. "Don't forget, I'm NOT Pink Diamond." A reminder that he felt these ladies needed almost DAILY.

"Yes, we know that you're not her, But you were hers." Well wasn't THAT an improvement!?

"You know what it meant to love her," Did he really? The only time he got to know her was as a ghost. "And you remind us so much of her…" Why did that always feel more like an insult than a compliment?

"Please Steven, this could be your home too!" White begged. "I'll start saying please and thank you to everyone else!"

"Good for you, great job, keep it up." He gave a thumbs up. "Oh would you look at that the Warp Pads done gotta go byeeee~" He waved as he was met with the familiar sight of his house, letting out all the tension he built up. "Way … too … exhausting…"

"Another busy day on Homeworld?" Kelly greeted him as she and Star waited for him.

"You have no idea. The Diamond's REALLY want me to move in with them." Steven sighed. "I might end up fighting a whole nother war just to get them to realize my answer will still be no."

"You could always go for the Incursions." Star suggested with a shrug. "Probably better than trying to talk about peace considering their war based culture."

"That is an entire other problem I'd like to save for another day." Steven sighed, grabbing his stress ball. "What's the problem today?"

"Actually none for once on our side of the multiverse." Kelly smirked as she swung her sword. "Finn's invited me and a couple of others for some dragon taming, so me and Marco are heading out right now. You can come if you want."

"Nah, Sadie's band is playing tonight, and after today, that feels like more up my speed than high speed flying." Steven politely declined.

"You said it bro." Star looked over all the papers she was going over. "I just got a few more months of school left before I graduate, and angsty teens singing about all their grievances sounds pretty cathartic."

"Luz raves about that all the time." Steven laughed as he looked out the window. "Sure there isn't anything I can get to convince you to stay?"

"Nah…but there's something you can give me to get me to come back faster." Kelly smirked as they shared a quick kiss on the lips. "See yah!" Kelly jumped out the window and ran.

Steven couldn't help but look onwards, feeling like nothing could get in his way. "There's the smile I've been waiting for!" Star hugged him from behind. "It's amazing when everything finally works out."

"It's more than amazing…it's perfect." Steven closed his eyes, and let out a deep breath, the kind you can only have with moments of long peace. "Here we are in the future … Here we are in the future and it's bright." Steven jumped in the air and let himself float down onto his bed

"Nothing to fear, No one to fight." Star continued. "I can't believe we've come so far."

"Happily ever after here we are!" Steven smiled as he swung her around. "Once upon a time, I thought I'd always be in my mother's shadow." Constantly compared to Rose, having to use HER powers.

"Answering family crimes, I thought we'd always be in an endless battle." Star added on. Which was true considering Solaria, Eclipsa, Meteora, heck, even their own mom's mistakes they had to constantly answer to. Steven and Star had been on the same boat of struggles since day one."

"'Til we began to hone!" They struggled to master their magic and gem powers pushing each other to do their best. "A power of our own!" Through a bond that could never be broken, a bond that even the universe itself couldn't separate!

"That I could feel growing stronger every day … And now we saved the world!" Star added on with a wide grin as Steven rolled them down the stairs in a bubble.

"Not just that, the whole galaxy was saved!" Technically it was the whole Mutliverse, but why split hairs

"We did it!" They sang together., bursting out of the house door and onto the beach.. "Here we are in the future!" Looking around further, they were met by his Earth Dad, sitting in his van with Pearl and Luz.

"Hey guys, whatcha up to?" Steven asked.

"Oh, your dad…our dad…whatever, said he was free to give lessons, so I've been doing my best to get used to the base." Luz chuckled as she strummed her guitar, getting a sour note. "Still a work in progress."

"I figured I may as well pick up another skill with the sudden influx of free time." Pearl said, playing the object like Steven did with his ukulele. "Although I don't know why they keep mispronouncing Bass."

"We stopped trying to correct her an hour ago." His dad snorted.

"There's nothing to correct. B-A-S-S spells Bass." Well, Pearl wasn't wrong.

Luz only laughed. "Eh, you're the boss."

"Heck yes I am." Pearl smirked as she jumped on top of his dad's van. Nice to see her have more of that confidence. "Once upon a time, I only lived to be of Pink Diamond's service." She sang, strumming her instrument. "'Til the day the two of us snuck down to be on this planet's surface."

"Oooh, musical backstory!" Luz cheered.

"We became our fantasy!" Pearl shouted as her face became flush."And I was sure she set me free!" Guess some feelings were harder to fade away than others. "But in the end, I guess I never left her side!" At least she's grown to the point where she was willing to admit it. "And after love and loss and all the tears that I cried, I find that…!"

"Here we are in the future!" They all shouted.

"Oh, are you guys in the middle of a huge muscular number right now!?" Luz asked with excited glee.

"Yeah, me and Star started one right before we got here." Steven explained. "We're just about to head into town. Wanna come?"

"Ah, heck yeah! I wanna see this number all the way through!" Luz shouted.

"Good, then hop on!" Star screamed as she formed cloudy as they all flew on top of it. "Here we are in the future! Oh, here we are in the future and it's bright!"

"Nothing to fear, no one to fight!" Steven continued.

"The path we're on, shines like the brightest star!" They looked over the horizon and saw Garnet with the off colors, sitting just outside of Mom's bakery. "Happily ever after, HERE WE ARE!" They all jumped off, plopping into seats.

"Glad to see you all are enjoying your day." Garnet smiled, drinking tea.

"Don't see any reason to not enjoy it." Star laughed. "So what are you doing today?"

"Just telling my favorite part of the story." Garnet smirked, adjusting her shades. "Once upon a time, a Sapphire came to Earth with her Ruby soldier." She narrated. "Sapphire's deadly fate was set until the Ruby rushed in to hold her." Garnet went on.

"So that's how they met." Luz muttered.

"Suddenly they were fusing. Beautiful, strange, confusing" She sang. "And there I was, a bundle of questions, so naive." Garnet looked blissful at the memory. "That if you told me this I never would've believed you then but…"

"Here we are in the future!" They all sang.

"Everyone is so on point!" Luz shouted. "Why can't all musical numbers be like this!?"

"Time and practice…and whatever allows gems to synchronize so well I guess." Steven shrugged as he took a bite of the Ube roll on the table. "Dang, Lar's is getting better at this. Almost a shame he only works part time."

"It was either part time or retire." The pink boy himself said. "Life in Beach Creek just isn't as awesome as space …" Oh the poor naive fool.

"So I take it Amethyst is in Nexus City?" Star asked Garnet, pointing to the semi finished sight just a couple of miles away from Beach Creak.

"You would take it right." The fusion answered. "Helping integrate confused gems about basic tools. You'll find her the minute you take the warp."

"Another thing I love about living here: people can teleport!" Luz shouted as she hopped on top of the nearby warpads that were around town."

"And here we thought Homeworld tech was gonna ruin our generation." Star snorted as she hopped on as well.

"Like I said, it's not the tools, it's the people who use them." Plus it helped that it needed a gem to operate them, so that limited people's ability to take advantage of them.

Wasting no more time, Steven activated it, and in a flash, the three of them found themselves in the air, the pad they were using being hoisted around by a crane. "Whoa, careful dudes!" Amethyst called out to them, using her whip to prevent them from falling off.

"How's it going?" Steven asked as the two of them 'pewed' each other, getting into their own secret handshake that they had developed in the last two years.

"Amazing! The gems moving in are handling things pretty well." She pointed out to all the gem's surroundings, carrying metal beams, along with a couple of Monster's drilling in some screws, a couple of gnomes carrying boards, and one or two witches levitating a couple of two. "They're getting along great with the other creatures, so progress on the city construction is moving like lightning."

"There just seems to be a place for everyone here, isn't there?" Luz observed the sight in awe.

"You have no idea. Wish I had this when I first emerged." Amethyst smiled fondly.  "Once upon a time, I burst to life inside of the kindergarten. A product of a war that I had no idea I had a part in." He couldn't have imagined what life could've been like, walking aimless in the dark for so many years

"I came out late and alone….knew nothing but my home." They went on. "But I know now exactly who I'm supposed to be....And it's a part of this family!" Amethyst grabbed a hold of all of them and created a group hug.

"One big happy family." Steven repeated as Pearl and Garnet approached them. To think when he first met them, he was reluctant to even consider them friends. But they've been through so much together, grew together, learned together….how could that not make them family

"So, whaddya think?" Amethyst nudged him in the stomach.

"What do I think?" He smirked with a raised eyebrow. "If I could just stop right here and be… Finally done …Finally us …." He took out his cellphone and took a selfie with everyone there. "Finally we....!

"....Are in the future" His sister posed with her own pic, laughing with him. "Here we are in the future and it's bright!" They all began running into the grassland of the area around them, running to a cliffiside view of the entire town, all their hard work displayed right before them

"Nothing to fear….No one to fight!" Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl sang together as they ran behind them.

"I can't...believe…..we've come so far…..!" They finally reached it.

"Happily ever after…!" They were finally here.

"Happily ever after…!"  They've reached the end of the story.

"Happily ever after..!" They would finally have peace!

"Here we are...........!" And nothing would ever….EVER take that away from him.

"Aw man, I didn't get my own verse." Luz pouted.

"Your time will come eventually, sis." Steven laughed as he patted her on the back.

========================================================================

Garnet rested on the grassy plain, gazing up at the sky, as the kids went on with their gossip. "You know." Star spoke up. "Keep this on the down low … but Sadie and Lars kinda lost the spark."

"What?" Steven's eyes widened. "But I just got invested in their ship, and now they're splitsville?"

"Didn't the same thing happen to Marco and Jackie?" Amethyst asked. "Not all childhood romances end up together you know … like I used to have a crush on this guy, but he ended up with another girl and … stuff happened."

"If only shipping made everything in real life simpler instead of more complicated." Luz sighed. "But yeah, guess not every romance is slated to work out in the end. I mean, Eda's kind of proof of that alone. Heck, she dated the mystery twin's uncle for crying out loud.

"And if I had a nickel for every time I failed at genuine romance, I'd have two nickels." Pearl added on. "... I really thought it'd be more."

"You'll find someone eventually." Star said. "You know, maybe someone you know and have talked to for a long while now?"

"... If you're trying to hook me up with Hekapoo, let me tell you she's not my type." Anyone outside of Rose and Pearl was as dense as any other rock.

"Ew, gross." Steven winced. "Besides, I don't think she even cares for that stuff unless it involves Marco, and well, that ship sank a looong time ago."

"Very long …" Star growled. "Seahorse is thinking of engagement."

"Seriously?" Garnet asked. "Doesn't he think that's a bit early?"

"This coming from someone who fused the day she met?" Steven asked.

"I never said Ruby and Sapphire were good at romance." Hey!

"Yeah, we've noticed." Star snorted. "Anyways, Ponyhead's eighteen already and she's not the type to keep things on the slow lane for long. She'll end up saying yes no problem."

"Looks like we got another wedding to plan soon." Steven smiled. "Speaking of Mewni, I never thought Ludo would end up being a good mayor, but he's actually keeping things stable."

"Never thought a good mayor could exist to begin with." Star joked. "Nana has this town on lock and key … It's nice."

"Everything's going peachy keen." Luz smiled as she plucked a flower that was right next to her. "Smells just as peachy too."

"Wait, let me fix that." Steven licked a finger and placed it where the flower used to be, making it sproat a whole handful of the plant. "There, now everything's perfect."

"Between you and Willow, you could run your own interdimensional flower shop." Luz snickered.

"I'll see if I can squeeze that in with being a space ambassador and band practice." Steven answered with a small smile.

"You're in a band?" Amethyst looked at him.

"Yeah, I started it a few months ago. I got Marceline on bass, Marcy on drums, I got vocals, and the Ninja surprisingly knows how to use a keyboard pretty well." A strange assortment of characters to be playing together…it fit Steven perfectly.

"A peaceful world." Star smiled. "So Garnet, how bright's our future looking?"

The fusion adjusted her shades, gazing into what will be … [Luz's head is cracked from the giant metallic foot]. "... Luz, roll your body to the left about three times."

"Um … sure." The girl proceeded to follow through as the sky grew darker … and a massive pink injector landed over them, a metal leg piercing where Luz once laid. "Okay, future vision rules." She muttered with a hint of fear.

"A giant injector from space coming down on us with a bunch of dark clouds following it….looks can still be deceiving." Star tried to suggest as they all got ready for what was probably going to end up with a fight.

"Looks like someone didn't get the memo." Steven groaned, standing up. "Hey, whoever is up there, the colonization is over!" He shouted. "Pink Diamond is-"

"Pink Diamond is dead, I heard the story on a loop!" A voice shouted. "You're Steven Universe, the 'hero' of the galaxy, right!?" Shouted a pink gem that stretched closer, a deranged look in her eyes.

"Ah, yes, although I like to point out I didn't save it alone." Steven corrected.

"I know, which is exactly what I'm counting on." Said gem shapeshifted its hand into a horn-like structure, and blew into it.

"What is she doing!?" Pearl shouted as it floated above them, forming a giant drill that was coming down on top of them.

"GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Garnet ordered as they all scrambled, the drill forcing itself into the cliffside. Hopefully the two years of peace didn't dull their capabilities.

========================================================================

The injector was starting, and soon she'd have her vengeance. "Alright you bozo, what's your endgame!?" An Amethyst shouted, forming a whip.

"My endgame, oh yes, this is a new game for us all to play." She laughed. "I mean, she didn't let me play her last one." Spinel glared. "Even if she let her own Pearl play."

"No…no it can't be." Looks like even with her new form, she couldn't forget about her…and yet she was still left behind.

"But it can be, and it is!" She laughed. "I got myself a brand new look, and this toy right here!" She patted the injector. "And with this I'mI'm gonna ruin everyone's happily ever after, once and for all!"

"Would you stop it, you crazy noodle armed psycho!" A Mewnan shouted. "We just finished making peace with everyone we care about, and we don't need some rando ruining it."

"Some rando …" She laughed harder. "Some rando….of course, nobody would truly knows who I am, yet EVERYBODY knows who Steven Universe and his friends are!" She could feel the rage boiling beyond anything safe. "They know about the overcooked runt Amethyst, the unstable love of Garnet, the loyal servitude of Pearl, even his savage Mewman pet Star gets a mention!"

"She's my sister, not my-" She stretched her leg out and kicked the brat right in the face.

"I DON'T CARE!" Spinel yelled her entire body shaking with absolute rage. "I've had to listen to your little speech about Pink's happy ending over and over again, about how she got to live the rest of her days, on this NOWHERE PLANET…WITH A BUNCH…OF NOBODIES!" She hopped to the ground, ready to skip to the fun part.

"That's right, I heard the story over and over again." She moved like a spinkie, bouncing around those rainbow blasts as she came face to face with the surprised Steven. "Gee, it's swell to finally meet her other friends."

"That's right, I heard the story, I don't really like how it ends." She dodged the human and Star blasting at her quite easily, grabbing them and swinging them around. "Gee, it's swell to finally meet her other friends."

"What did she say about me? What did she say?" She asked Pearl, dangling her by the legs before slamming her into the ground.

"What did you do without me? What did you do?" She weaved around Garnet, swinging her like a propeller.

"Did you play games without me? What did you play?" She tossed Amethyst around like a pinball with her elasticity.

"Did you think all this time that I wouldn't find out about youuuuuuuuu!?" Spinel asked Steven with sadistic glee.

"That's right, I heard the story over and over again." She swung the group around, slamming them together. "Gee, it's swell to finally meet her other friends." She finished the verse, jumping on top of a lighthouse with a laugh.

"She's running circles around us." Garnet groaned

"I'm rusty, give me a break." Amethyst complained, rubbing herself.

"Ugh, she fights like Quana, but more psychopathic." Star rubbed her head.

"The song's kind of a bop at least." Glad she could be entertaining while kicking their butts.

"It really is her, but she can't be serious." Looks like Pearl was still in denial.

"Alright Pearl, you mind telling me what mistake mom made that came back to bite me this time?" Steven asked. "You at least know who she is?" Once again … rubbing in her face that she was forgotten.

"Who am I? Who am I? What are you even saying?" She knew he didn't deserve it when he didn't know … but he made Pink happy, and that made her furious. "I'm the loser of the game you didn't know you were playing!"

She played Pink's game for so long, but now, it was her turn to start the game, it was time for her to choose the playing field, for her to make the rules. "Let's play another game, this time I get to win." She pulled out the rejuvenator, letting it shine as she spun it around. "Lives on the line!" Their lives. "Winner takes all!" They either win or die trying."Ready or not Let's begin!"

She jumped straight at them, eliciting some screams as she spun around like a spin top to cut them. "Oh, that's right, I heard the story over and over again. Gee, it's swell to finally beat her other friends." She jumped around the injector, using it to ricochet and gain momentum.

"Oh, that's right, I heard the story, don't really like how it ends! Gee, it's swell to finally beat her Other …" She rocketed past them, circling around the lighthouse and stretching herself further and further as she saw the crystal gem's charge right at them, having no idea what she had in store for them.

"Other …" Closer and closer she spun. "Other …"

"GUYS!" Steven cried helplessly, just how she wanted him.

SHINK

"Friends …" She watched them poof, gems sparking pink. Spinel laughed. "How was my performance, marvelous?"

"That's enough!!" The boy took out a shield, lighting himself pink. Oooh, looks like he had his mother's temper. That would make this even more fun…for her that is!

========================================================================

Even when Star knew that the gems were just poofed, the sight of seeing them all cut in half was gruesome. Judging by Luz holding her hands to her mouth, she most likely agreed."This stops now!" Her brother shouted, rushing straight at her.

"Aww, but the game just got started!" The gem cackled as she swung the blade straight at her brother. He raised his shield … and it sliced clean through, hitting him dead on.

SHINK

"Steven!" She and Luz shouted at the same time as Star tried to charge in…

Reset

She felt reversion, something moving backwards. It was small, but she felt it all the same. Steven himself shook a bit in place with weird pink glitches of electricity running through him, only for it to dissipate. "Hah, that didn't do anything!"

"So you don't poof? Figured just as much, given your whole meatbag look." The crazed gem smirked. "But on the plus side, I get to cut you over and over again!" She laughed, swinging at him over and over.

Reset

Reset

RESET

"Blowback Tornado Strike!" She fired her spell … as nothing happened, other than a small gust of wind came from her hand. "What the …"

"Just stop!" Steven grabbed the handle of the crazy girl's weapon. "Just stop it, you demented psycho!"

"AHAHA! I don't need to do anything now, not after what I just did to your gem!" The rubber hosed looney cackle maniacally. "Now you're human half will be nice and vulnerable to my injector, and you'll be completely powerless to stop it!"

"What are you talking about!?" Steven growled, the pink glitches still covering her brother's body.

"You didn't start out as a powerful hero, did you?" The psycho mocked with a sadistic smile.

"I think we're just about done with you!" Luz shouted as she pounded a couple of glyphs into the ground, forcing large vines to pout out and force the gem away, leaving that weird scythe weapon in her brother's hands. "Steven, now while she's unarmed!"

Steven wasted no time, raising the weapon high above his head, and bringing it down on top of the gem.

SHING

"HAHAHAHAHAAHA!" The laughter only got more and more maniacal as her face split in half, making her poof in a large pink puff, her heart shaped gem falling to the ground with a soft thud.

"... Was Mina ever that mental?" Luz asked hesitantly.

"I think it'd be safe to call them both equally insane." Star shivered, the maniac's laughter now etched in her brain. "You alright, bro?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm good." He muttered with a pant. "Let's bubble her and wait for the gems." He grabbed the heart shaped gem, a pink bubble forming … before it popped. "What the …"

"Your bubble…failed?" Star asked, concerned. "That hasn't happened in ages."
