Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 : Unveiling the System's Secrets

[Lucas' POV]

I stared at the holographic interface, my mind racing with questions. The system, this enigmatic entity that had dropped me or at least had a connection with who dropped me into this world of magic. I needed to understand it's capabilities and limitations.

"System, what can you do?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

And it responded with a whole list.

[Capabilities]

*Provide information on the world, it's inhabitants, and magical phenomena.

*Offer guidance on skill development and management.

*Grant access to the skill library, containing various magical techniques.

*Analyze and provide insights on magical affinities and spellcasting.

*Track user progress, allocating resources and rewards accordingly.

I nodded intrigued. "And what about your limitations?"

[Limitations]

*Cannot alter the fundamental laws of physics or magic.

*Cannot interfere with the free will of both the host and non system users.

*Cannot provide information on future events or unseen consequences.

*Resource allocation dependent on user's achievements and actions.

Cannot manipulate or control external environments or objects.

I pondered upon the System's Capabilities and limitations. It's guidance would be invaluable without a doubt but I couldn't solely rely on it.

Next, I asked, "System explain this world's magic system." I wanted to make sure it was as I remembered. Well the little I remember.

[Magic in the World of Eridoria]

*Mana: The vital energy powering magical abilities.

*Magical affinities: Elemental associations (Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Aether)

*Spellcasting: Shaping mana to achieve specific effects.

*Magical creatures: Beings attuned to mana possessing unique abilities.

I delved deeper. "What about the ranking system?"

[Ranking System]

*Iron (Basic): novice magic users

*Copper (Apprentice): developing magic users

*Bronze (Adept): Skilled magic users

*Silver (Expert): advanced magic users

*Gold (Master): Exceptional magic users

*Platinum (Archmage): Elite magic users

*Diamond (Legendary): Extraordinary magic users

*Adamantium (Mythic): Pinnacle of magic achievement.

Ok. So it's just as I remember. I then whispered softly

"System where do I stand?"

[Your Current rank: Iron (Basic)]

I nodded. Time to change that.

I then spent the next few hours browsing the skill library, selecting skills to learn:

*Elemental sense: enhanced awareness of magic elements.

*Mana shield: basic defensive spell

*Magic Theory: foundational knowledge for advanced spellcasting.

As I absorbed the information, my mind wandered to my situation. I am Lucas Morningstar, a Duke's son and a third rate villain in "The Legendary Hero" story.

How could I alter my fate?

I would need allies, knowledge and power.

The System's resources would help, but I required more.

As I pondered, a gentle knock on the door broke my concentration.

"Young Master Lucas?" a soft voice called.

I turned to see Elara, one of our maids come in.

"Yes?"

"It's time for dinner, Young Master. His grace has demanded you come."

Haaa. Grumbling, I rose from my bed, smoothing my clothes.

"Thank you, Elara. I'll be right there."

As I followed Elara to the dining hall, I couldn't shake the feeling that my journey was just beginning.
