Chapter 41 - Monsters

As every pebble, spark, and bone materialized from absolute nothingness, slowly Asta, the classmates, and finally Michael arose, whose body had been halved from Vincent's energy beam. But unlike everyone else who was still astonished from being resurrected, for Michael, this wasn't the first time nor the last time he has faced death—nor would it be. The moment Vincent was within Michael's sight, he screamed with joy, "Even God won't stop me from erasing you all," as he repeated the whole explosion sequence.

Vincent wasn't as surprised as the others. As he immediately realized what had happened, he poured all his energy into constructing a shield on himself that even oxygen couldn't penetrate, preparing to gamble his life on the blast radius. The classmates couldn't even react. Eima, on the other hand, tried using all her energy to cover the students until a voice interrupted, "That won't be necessary," as everyone stared at the imposing, seven-foot figure—the head of Emox, Mr. Bola—as he muttered a command.

Immediately, Michael and Vincent couldn't move their bodies. Bola smiled while Michael cursed, acting as feral as a beast staring at his prey behind a window he couldn't break. As he pushed against the unknown force, he tore and gagged, making little progress, while Vincent went crazy because he couldn't believe how much hatred a single human could possess. Bola looked at Michael, and Michael withdrew his energy, dropping the two unconscious students.

Michael knew he couldn't win against Vincent now that Bola was present. Vincent, on the other hand, withdrew his energy, and Bola let him go, leaving the hole through the floor so that the students could see and hear him as he departed. While he did so, Michael walked towards Vincent and said, "I forfeit."

The class was in shock until Vincent replied, "I also forfeit, and call it a draw."

They both checked each other and sat down like nothing had happened. Even Eima was shocked at the two monsters; could she kill them instantly? Yes, but with time, that dynamic could turn vice versa. Slowly, the class settled down as Bola finally spoke over the entire first-year cohort:

"Due to today's events, I shall cancel the class ranking system for now. All classes shall become one, and the class system will be abolished. Now all 130 of you shall return to your dorms as tomorrow is the big final test."
