Synopsis
In a world where power determines your worth, being ordinary is a death sentence. Seventeen-year-old Michael Ozor is tired of everything. Tired of a life that feels like an endless cycle of disappointment. Tired of friendships that bring more chaos than comfort. Tired of love that leaves him more broken than before. And most of all, tired of being the fool who keeps hoping things will get better. With two girls pulling his heart in opposite directions, a past he cannot escape, and a future he has little faith in, Michael is ready to stop caring. No more chasing love. No more pointless expectations. If people want to bring chaos into his life, then perhaps it is time he gave them something to fear. Then comes Emox. A school promising to awaken the supernatural abilities hidden within its students, Emox offers Michael a chance to become something more. But beneath its promises lies a world far crueler than he could ever imagine, where power comes at a price, trust can be fatal, and survival demands more than strength. When an unexpected message from a girl threatens to unravel the fragile world he has built around himself, Michael is forced to confront the one thing he has spent his life running from: himself. But what if the darkness inside him is not something to overcome? What if it is the only thing keeping him alive? In a world where power defines humanity, how much of yours can you lose before you become something else entirely? Welcome to The Hollow Veil, where love can become a weakness, memories can become weapons, and the line between monster and human is thinner than anyone dares to believe. Not everyone gets to be a hero.

Chapter 1 - The weight of Existence

With the sands of time came man. But how did God and the gods come to be? This question plagued a boy named Michael Ozor, for he had been born into a world steeped in mystery, where diversity and the unknown fueled his endless curiosity.

Michael's world was not like ours. Here, humans possessed extraordinary abilities, powers that reflected the stories they carried and the emotions that shaped them. These abilities were not inherited or learned, but given—by whom, no one knew.

The gifted were divided into three groups: the Reliers, the Mourners, and the Hybrids.

Reliers drew their strength from the emotions of others, relying on the bonds they formed to reach their full potential. Mourners, however, were fueled by their own pain, their powers emerging from grief and the echoes of their past. Then there were the Hybrids—those rare individuals who could wield both external and internal forces. Hybrids were special, able to tap into limitless emotion, their powers vast and unpredictable.

Michael had no idea which he was.

His abilities had yet to awaken, leaving him to wonder: would he depend on others like a Relier, bury himself in the past like a Mourner, or unlock the boundless power of a Hybrid? His future, like the world around him, was uncertain—a mystery waiting to unfold.

In the rainy city, bustling with lights and people, a boy walked down the street in defeat. He was tired of this loop called life, murmuring to himself, "Even she is too busy." The dark, gloomy streets echoed his frustration, while the raindrops became his closest friends companions, hiding the pain he couldn't express.

This boy was Michael. And Michael was Ozor. And together, we relay our story.

Michael Ozor, soon to be 18, longed for death as though he'd lived through a war. Not because he was depressed, but because he felt out of place—a freak. In a world where people had powers—whether they were reliers, moaners, or hybrids—Michael was nothing more than a boy who could inhale oxygen. At his age, others were happy, in relationships, and had long since awakened their abilities. But not Michael. He had already experienced it all—traveling, suffering, loving—and now, nothing excited him. Every attempt to add meaning to his life only ended in failure.

Michael's mind drifted to the two girls in his life. One had ruined him but brought a sense of chaos he couldn't resist. The other made him feel something rare for him—happiness. And yet, he didn't want to live anymore. It was a disturbing paradox.

Now, you might wonder what a tall, lean, caramel-skinned boy like Michael was doing, walking in the rain, weighed down by the world. But height isn't everything. On this night, Michael felt like crawling into a hole, disappearing from the chaos in his head.

Let's rewind a little…
