Chapter 2 - the room with the sound

The next day, they moved me to a new wing.

East Echo.Smaller rooms.Quieter halls.

It wasn't a big deal.At Elaris, they shift students around often. No warning.Just a glowing scroll with your new room number.

So I packed up,walked through the floating corridors, and found my new space.

The room was clean.Still.Walls smooth like stone, one of them glowing faintly.

A whisper wall.

I had one before too,but this one felt different.

Like it was waiting.

I sat down at my desk.

My books floated into place. The lights dimmed.

And then—that voice again.

Humming.

Soft and low, just like last night.

I froze.

It was him.It had to be.

Vivaan?

Or… someone who sounded just like him.

I pressed my palm to the wall.

Listened.

The hum stopped—then came the taps.

One-two.One-two-three.

I smiled.

My heart did that small ache thing again. The one that feels like hopeand fearmixed together.

I tapped back.

Not a real message.Just a hello.

The voice laughed—quiet, almost surprised.

Then started humming again. This time slower.

Like we were speakingwithout speaking.

That night,I stayed awake again.

Staring at the ceiling.Waiting for the sound. The hum.The taps.

And when they came—I smiled into the dark.

This became a pattern.

I'd go to class.Drift through my day.

Then come back to my roomand wait.

Sometimes he hummed.Sometimes he just tapped.Sometimes nothing at all.

But when the sound came, everything felt easier.

I didn't even carethat I didn't know who it was.

Part of me still hoped—maybe it's Vivaan.

Maybe he remembered me.Maybe this is his way of talkingwhen words are too hard.

I stopped looking for him in the halls.

Stopped waiting for him to smile.

Because this—this voice through the wall—felt betterthan all the real moments ever did.

I never saw his face. Not yet.

But his sound—

It started to feel like home.
