Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno.
In the Orange Islands, they were revered as the Three Legendary Birds. Zapdos was the God of Thunder, Moltres was the God of Fire, and Articuno was the God of Ice.
According to legend, when the Gods of Ice, Thunder, and Fire were angered by humans, the world would face destruction. The treasures of the three gods needed to be placed in the shrine on nearby Shamouti Island, and the "Song of Lugia" had to be played to calm the gods' rage.
"So 'Zapdos's Treasure' is the item used to calm the god's rage in the movie?" Chris rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "In that case, Moltres and Articuno should each have their own divine treasures as well."
Chris set his sights on Moltres and Articuno, who were displaying their magnificent forms in midair.
Moltres and Articuno looked at Chris simultaneously.
They didn't believe a word of what Zapdos had said, but they could definitely sense the malice and greed radiating from this human.
The human before them truly intended to capture all three of them!
"SCREEE! (This is the human who stole my treasure!)" Zapdos called out from behind Moltres and Articuno.
Moltres and Articuno turned to glare at it, and Zapdos immediately fell silent.
Looking back at Chris, they became extremely alert—mainly wary of the dark-colored Lugia beneath his feet.
They knew of Lugia. They were old acquaintances, in fact. Every time the three of them fought among themselves, Lugia was the one who came out to mediate. However, they didn't recognize this particular Lugia standing before them.
It possessed a strange and terrifying power that made them fearful.
None of the three Legendary Birds made the first move to attack.
However, if they wouldn't attack first, Chris wasn't going to wait around.
If his opponents had three Pokémon, then he should send out three of his own as well.
Chris pulled out three Poké Balls and threw two of them first.
Silver light flashed, and the Pokémon that appeared were Zeraora and Greninja.
"Zeraora, Zapdos is yours. Give it a good thrashing."
"Greninja, you'll handle Moltres."
"Both of you are experienced fighters. I won't be commanding you in this battle. You're on your own."
"RAAH!" Zeraora grinned, electricity sparking across its body as it charged toward Zapdos without hesitation.
The three Legendary Birds noticed Zeraora's attack and counterattacked almost simultaneously.
"SCREEE!" "SCREEE!" "SCREEE!"
Ice Beam, Flamethrower, and Thunderbolt—energy beams of three colors and three different types cut through the sky, but Zeraora easily dodged them all without exception.
Once it activated its sensory network, these attacks appeared in slow motion to its eyes.
Zeraora used Agility again and, in the blink of an eye, appeared above Zapdos's head as if it had teleported. Falling through the air, it struck out with a devastating punch.
"Plasma Fists!"
Every feather on Zapdos's body stood on end. Although its feathers were already naturally spiky, it had experienced the power of Zeraora's fist before and had no desire to take another ten punches like that.
Gritting its beak, Zapdos immediately combined Brave Bird with Drill Peck and dove downward to avoid Zeraora's attack.
Articuno and Moltres wanted to help, but in the blink of an eye, Moltres found its own opponent had arrived.
Greninja had completed its Mega Evolution, transforming into Ash-Greninja.
A Substitute materialized as Greninja twisted a spiraling Aura Sphere in one hand while grabbing the main body with the other and flinging it toward Moltres in midair.
When it reached Moltres, Greninja struck decisively with a Water Pulse that had been charging in its right hand.
Moltres reacted quickly. The flames covering its body suddenly intensified as it unleashed a Flamethrower at Greninja.
In terms of type matchups, Water was strong against Fire, but in reality, water and fire were constantly in conflict with each other.
Water could extinguish flames, but flames could also evaporate water.
Moltres intended to vaporize Greninja's Water Pulse completely!
The violent flames engulfed Greninja in an instant, but Moltres immediately felt a chill at the back of its head. At the same time, a powerful impact suddenly exploded in front of it.
Greninja had activated Ally Switch the moment the flames struck, throwing out the spiraling Aura Sphere while swapping positions with its Substitute.
The spiraling Aura Sphere detonated within the flames Moltres had sprayed, while Greninja itself appeared behind Moltres, pressing the Water Pulse directly against the back of its head.
Double attacks, explosions one after another. In just a single exchange, Moltres was blasted down from the sky.
Wild Pokémon that spent all their time resting in their lairs were inferior in battle tactics to Pokémon carefully trained by someone like Chris, such as Greninja.
Seeing that Greninja had gained the advantage, Chris felt confident about their battles and stopped worrying about them.
Instead, he turned his attention to the last Legendary Bird—the God of Ice, Articuno.
Before sending out his third Pokémon, Chris displayed the Dynamax Band on his wrist.
Dynamax energy surged forth!
The Poké Ball instantly grew to enormous size.
Chris raised his hand and threw it.
"GROOOAR!"
Yellow sand suddenly erupted!
Dynamax Tyranitar fell from the sky and crashed into the water!
However, they were now near the three god islands, close to Shamouti Island, and the sea wasn't very deep here.
With its Totem-sized spirit already active, plus the Dynamax transformation, Tyranitar was now like Godzilla walking across the ocean.
But it wasn't over yet.
"Mega Evolution!" Chris revealed his Key Stone.
Dynamax Tyranitar's body was immediately enveloped in colorful light. In the blink of an eye, an upgraded version of Godzilla with an even more ferocious appearance and larger size appeared before them.
The stormy weather originally caused by the three gods was disrupted by a trace of yellow sand beginning to swirl through it.
"Are you ready?" Chris called out to Articuno.
This was his opponent for Articuno—a chance to give Tyranitar an opportunity to display all of its strength.
"Then here comes our attack!"
"Tyranitar, Rock Slide!"
"GROOOAAR!"
Meanwhile, on Shamouti Island, at the entrance to the shrine, a Slowking stared blankly at the three islands in the distance. Its chubby pink fingers moved quickly as if performing a fortune-telling calculation.
"Is the prophecy of destruction coming true on this day?"
"No, wait... the prophecy only mentioned the Three Legendary Birds and Lugia. Where did these other powerful Pokémon fighting against the Three Legendary Birds come from?"
Next to Slowking stood a girl wearing priest's clothing, also gazing into the distance. "So what do we do now?"
