Chapter 470: The Inheritance of the Nine-Winged Purple Gold Serpent
"This place is too cold. Even an ordinary Dou Zun expert might not be able to withstand this kind of extreme cold."
Mo Yu gazed at the deep yellow lake, feeling the overwhelming cold seeping from it. Even he found it highly uncomfortable.
While observing, Mo Yu slowly approached the Nine Nether Yellow Spring and crouched down, dipping his hand into the lake water. Immediately, a hissing sound echoed, and yellow ice crystals rapidly crawled up his arm.
"It really is similar to the Nine Nether Yellow Spring, but compared to the version belonging to the Nine Nether Earth Serpent Clan, this one is weaker."
Seeing how terrifying the cold energy within the Nine Nether Yellow Spring was, Mo Yu was slightly surprised. He activated the mysterious thunder within him, which then melted away the ice layers.
Fortunately, this was only a weaker version of the true Nine Nether Yellow Spring; otherwise, Mo Yu wouldn't have been able to reach into it.
The cold power of this weakened Yellow Spring was already terrifying. It was hard to imagine that such an extreme cold place could exist in the world.
Previously, Mo Yu had some doubts about whether the inheritance of the Nine-Winged Purple Gold Serpent was really here, but now, it seemed more and more likely.
With this thought, Mo Yu squinted at the deep yellow lake and decided to dive in to investigate further. Although the dangers within were unknown, it was a risk worth taking for the sake of Uncle Snake.
Cradling the little pill beast in his arms, Mo Yu quickly formed several hand seals, releasing a surge of energy. He summoned a thunder armor and thunder wings. At this moment, he was as strong as a peak Douzong expert. With the protection of five types of mystical thunder, he believed he could resist the cold of the weakened Nine Nether Yellow Spring.
Once ready, Mo Yu wasted no more time. Intense thunder energy poured from every pore of his body, and as soon as the terrifying electricity made contact with the cold, white mist billowed everywhere.
"Plop!"
With a serious expression, Mo Yu took a deep breath, summoned the mystical thunder, and holding the little pill beast tightly, dove directly into the Yellow Spring. Like a bolt of lightning, he shot toward the bottom of the spring.
"Ssshh!"
As Mo Yu plunged into the spring, a column of white smoke rose from the surface, and bubbles continuously burst upward—clear signs of the mystical thunder's effects.
"Whoosh!"
Beneath the murky yellow waters, Mo Yu's figure moved like lightning, surrounded by thunder. Every time the thunder came into contact with the lake water, it sizzled and steamed.
"The cold in this weaker Yellow Spring is still terrifying."
As Mo Yu raced toward the bottom of the Yellow Spring, his expression grew more serious. The cold in the water was so intense it felt as though it could freeze even Dou Qi. Despite the protection of the mystical thunder, Mo Yu's limbs felt a little numb, and the Dou Qi circulating inside him had started to slow down.
However, the little pill beast in his arms was swimming effortlessly in the Yellow Spring, like a fish completely at ease and unaffected by the cold.
Seeing this, Mo Yu curiously stroked the little beast, his suspicions growing. He had a strong feeling that this pill beast was closely connected to the inheritance of the Nine-Winged Purple Gold Serpent.
"It's best to hurry. I can't stay here for long!"
Resisting the cold with mystical thunder consumed a significant amount of Dou Qi, and Mo Yu had no choice but to speed up.
With this thought in mind, Mo Yu's body flashed again, his speed increasing. As he passed, a deep water trail was left behind, only to be covered by the lake water after he moved on.
Surrounded by crackling mystical thunder, Mo Yu dove deeper into the Nine Nether Yellow Spring.
However, as he descended further, the cold multiplied, becoming increasingly unbearable. Eventually, even Mo Yu had to put in all his effort to keep his Dou Qi circulating and shake off the invading cold.
"I wonder how deep this Yellow Spring goes. If it keeps getting colder, I might have no choice but to turn back."
Mo Yu peered into the dark depths of the lake, his brow furrowing. He had to keep enough Dou Qi in reserve to make it back to the surface. The cold down here seemed to have a special ability to corrode Dou Qi. Without the protection of the mystical thunder, it would've been extremely difficult to reach this depth.
"Ssss!"
Just as Mo Yu was beginning to struggle with the increasingly treacherous Yellow Spring, he heard a faint hissing sound. Instantly, he noticed that the water currents around him had suddenly become more intense.
"Boom!"
Reacting quickly, Mo Yu swung his fist backward. The immense force of his punch traveled through the water and smashed into a black shadow lurking behind him, shattering it into a cloud of blood.
"I didn't expect there to be living creatures in the Yellow Spring."
Seeing the creature explode into a bloody mist, Mo Yu was surprised. The cold here was unbearable even for a Douzong expert, let alone for any creature to survive long-term.
"Ssss!"
Just as Mo Yu destroyed the shadowy figure, he noticed the water around him becoming turbulent again. Off in the distance, a dense cloud of black mist rapidly approached.
Mo Yu's expression changed slightly as he realized the 'black mist' wasn't mist at all—it was actually a swarm of pitch-black, scaly serpents. Their eerie hissing filled the water.
"Ssshh!"
Before the black serpents even got close, they opened their ferocious mouths.
Immediately, countless black water arrows shot out from their mouths. As soon as the water arrows touched the lake water, the water parted, allowing the arrows to travel even faster. The arrows cut through the water with a high-pitched whistling, creating small explosions as they went.
"What terrifying energy."
Mo Yu frowned deeply as he observed the black water arrows. They carried the same cold energy as the Yellow Spring itself, but they were far more concentrated and lethal.
"A strange place like this is bound to produce strange creatures. I need to get out of here."
Mo Yu's figure blurred as his speed surged. He tore through the water like a bolt of lightning, racing toward the bottom of the Yellow Spring.
However, the black serpents weren't ready to let him escape. They quickly turned and swarmed after him, covering the entire area like a black cloud.
"Ssshh!"
Mo Yu pushed his speed to the limit. Even though he was deep underwater, his incredible speed left behind afterimages, which were quickly pierced by the incoming water arrows.
"What a troublesome bunch!"
No matter how fast he moved, the black serpents clung to him like a shadow. Mo Yu's expression grew colder.
He glanced back at the pursuing serpents, clenched his fist, and summoned a lightning orb into his palm. With a flick, he tossed it behind him, and it exploded into a vast thunderstorm, spreading out like a thundercloud.
"Zzzz!"
The sea of electricity spread out, and even the extreme cold couldn't extinguish it.
The black serpents were too close to stop, and they slammed into the lightning storm. In an instant, the electric current killed them off one by one.
"Screech!"
Faced with the terrifying thunderstorm, the remaining black serpents hesitated. After a large number of them perished, they finally stopped advancing, hovering at a distance, too afraid to get closer.
They could only hiss in frustration, continuously shooting black water arrows in a futile attempt to hold back the expanding thunderstorm.
While the serpents were busy fighting the thunderstorm, Mo Yu took the opportunity to dive deeper, finally shaking off his pursuers.
"This Yellow Spring is truly dangerous. Those black serpents weren't powerful on their own, but their cold water arrows were incredibly deadly. Even a peak Douzong expert would struggle against so many."
Relieved to have escaped, Mo Yu glanced downward, where he noticed a faint light in the distance.
With renewed energy, he sped up and soon reached the source of the light.
"Is this the bottom of the Yellow Spring?"
What lay before Mo Yu was a vast rocky floor, scattered with countless fist-sized stones glowing with a faint light. It was these stones that illuminated the area.
"It seems the Yellow Spring connects to the deep underground. If I go any further, I might freeze to death."
Mo Yu slowed down, scanning the area carefully as he began searching for the inheritance of the Nine-Winged Purple Gold Serpent.
But to his surprise, no matter how thoroughly he searched, he found no trace of the inheritance.
"Could I have come to the wrong place?"
After searching for a long time with no results, Mo Yu's expression darkened. After all the effort he had put in to get here, was he going to leave empty-handed?
If that were the case, reviving Uncle Snake would become a distant dream once again.
"No, something's not right. The inheritance of the Nine-Winged Purple Gold Serpent must be here."
Mo Yu's face grew serious. Every step he had taken convinced him that he was getting closer to the inheritance. It didn't make sense to find nothing now that he had reached the destination.
With this thought, Mo Yu pulled out the purple-gold scale from his chest.
As soon as the scale appeared, it emitted an intense purple-gold light so bright that it momentarily blinded Mo Yu.
In the next instant, an ancient aura rose from the ground. When Mo Yu's vision cleared, the scene around him had transformed completely.
"Rumble!"
The sky above him, filled with an ancient aura, roared with thunder. Lightning raged like furious dragons, and the deafening sound shook the entire realm.
"Is this the hidden space at the bottom of the Yellow Spring?"
Hovering in mid-air, Mo Yu looked around at this strange space, his eyes gleaming with surprise and excitement. He then gazed toward the far end of the space.
"To be able to create a space like this at the bottom of the Yellow Spring... The Sea Demon Sovereign truly lives up to his reputation. He must have reached the Half-Saint or even Dou Saint level."
With a sigh of admiration, Mo Yu stepped forward, walking through the air toward the depths of the space.
He could feel it. He was getting closer and closer to the inheritance of the Nine-Winged Purple Gold Serpent.
As he moved, the lightning in the sky seemed to be drawn toward him, suddenly crashing down in waves.
However, Mo Yu remained calm, walking without pause. The moment the lightning entered a ten-meter radius around him, it was quietly absorbed by an invisible force.
Naturally, it was the power of the Nine Heavens Thunder at work.
"Boom!"
As Mo Yu continued forward, the lightning seemed to realize it couldn't stop him, and it gradually calmed down. Just as the last trace of lightning dissipated, a massive purple-gold cloud appeared in the sky above him.
Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind tore through the heavens, pressing down hard on Mo Yu.
"Purple Gold Serpent Finger!"
Mo Yu paused for a moment and looked up at the enormous finger descending from the cloud. His eyes flickered slightly.
With a simple wave of his hand, he summoned a terrifying black-gold thunder orb. It roared as it shot upward to collide with the giant finger.
"Boom!"
When the two forces clashed, the space trembled, but there was no explosive energy. Both the thunder orb and the finger shattered upon impact, disappearing completely.
"Boom!"
As the Purple Gold Serpent Finger shattered, the ground below Mo Yu suddenly cracked open. A giant purple-gold hand shot up from the depths, grabbing Mo Yu in an instant.
"Break!"
With a calm voice, Mo Yu unleashed a powerful soul storm, instantly shattering the massive hand into pieces.
"Sea Demon Sovereign, show yourself. I didn't come here to fight you."
As the purple-gold hand crumbled, Mo Yu reappeared in the sky. He looked into the distance, his voice calm but carrying the weight of thunder as it echoed throughout the space.
"Rumble!"
No sooner had Mo Yu spoken than a mountain suddenly erupted from the ground in the distance, towering over the space.
At the peak of the mountain sat a massive throne, and on the throne sat a figure draped in a purple-gold robe. The figure's presence was so powerful that it made the very heavens tremble.
"You, young one—why do you carry an aura I find familiar?"
The figure's voice was soft, yet it carried a soul-crushing pressure that echoed in Mo Yu's mind, causing ripples to spread throughout his body.
