Chapter 510: The Dragon-Phoenix Origin Fruit!
"Charge! The ancient ruins have opened!"
As soon as the space seal shattered, countless figures around the sea of bones surged forward like a swarm of locusts toward the center of the sea.
However, in the next moment, the fragments of the shattered space seal suddenly halted, and a violent spatial force, so powerful that even Dou Zun experts were terrified, erupted like a storm, sweeping in all directions.
Those who had rushed in first were the most affected. In the blink of an eye, they were swallowed by the storm. Soon, agonizing screams echoed across the sea of bones as they were struck down.
The wild ripples of space were like a scythe cutting through wheat, obliterating the group that had been at the front.
Boom!
Since Mo Yu and his group hadn't rushed in, they were unaffected by the terrifying spatial storm.
"What a terrifying space seal! Even after countless years, it still has such destructive power. No wonder it's the ruins of a Dou Saint," Little Doctor Immortal remarked, a hint of awe on her face.
"Let's go. These fools were too impatient—they deserved their fate," Mo Yu said with a smile. With a wave of his hand, he transformed into a streak of light and shot into the sea of bones.
At the same time, other strong experts who had also avoided the spatial disturbance quickly followed suit, turning into blurs of motion as they rushed into the sea of bones.
The sea of bones was vast, and as Mo Yu and his companions entered, they noticed a massive silhouette looming in the distance, resembling a towering mountain.
From afar, it looked like an ancient, terrifying beast lying dormant in the sea of bones, filling onlookers with dread.
As they drew closer, the white mist floating in the sea of bones began to thin out, revealing the enormous structure that finally came into view.
It was a grand palace, towering nearly a thousand feet high, resembling a small mountain. The entire palace was a deep crimson, and from a distance, it seemed to glow like it was engulfed in flames, standing out sharply against the pale sea of bones.
The surrounding experts were also stunned by the palace's sheer size and majesty. For a moment, they exchanged glances, all of them filled with awe.
As expected from the ruins of a Dou Saint—it was as grand and impressive as one would imagine.
Whoosh!
One by one, the experts slowed down, stopping about a hundred meters from the crimson palace. Up close, the palace appeared even more imposing, its peak seeming to pierce the clouds.
"No wonder it was hidden behind a space seal. Such an enormous palace would be impossible to miss anywhere," Mo Yu murmured, shaking his head slightly in amazement.
The grand palace before him was far more majestic than the one left behind by the Sea Demon Sovereign, a peak-level semi-saint. This was a true Dou Saint's legacy.
As Mo Yu and his group waited outside the crimson palace, more experts continued to arrive. However, no one dared to step within the hundred-meter range of the palace. Only powerful factions or highly capable individuals had made it this far, and none were foolish enough to be the first to step forward.
Since the others weren't in a hurry, neither was Mo Yu's group. No one was foolish enough to believe that such a treasure-filled place would be left unprotected.
As Mo Yu stood with his arms crossed, calmly waiting, he suddenly noticed a series of cold gazes directed at him. Raising an eyebrow, he turned his head and saw the source of the hostile looks.
The cold gaze belonged to a woman dressed in a multicolored gown. Her noble demeanor made her seem untouchable, and her phoenix-shaped hair bun added an air of elegance.
"Feng Qing'er?" Xiao Yan, standing beside him, frowned slightly upon recognizing her.
Hearing this, Mo Yu narrowed his eyes as well, realizing who she was.
She was from the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan!
Surrounding Feng Qing'er were several people, including members of the Wind Lightning Pavilion. They, too, had noticed Mo Yu and Xiao Yan and were glaring at them with icy expressions.
Beside Feng Qing'er stood a tall man dressed in luxurious robes, his hair silver-white. Though he appeared to be in his thirties, this was still considered young for members of the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan.
"Qing'er, is that the Xiao Yan you mentioned who defeated you before? And he's with that silver-eyed youth? I've heard that three of our clan's elders were forced to retreat at the Mighty Lion Clan recently, and it had something to do with that silver-eyed youth. We must be cautious," the silver-haired man said in a low voice.
"Oh? Just a human, yet our clan fears him so much?" Feng Qing'er asked, surprised.
"This person is no ordinary human. He has a semi-saint protecting him, and he also seems to have connections with the Ancient Void Dragon Clan. He's not to be underestimated," the man replied, his eyes narrowing.
Feng Qing'er nodded slightly. The mere mention of a semi-saint was enough to warrant caution, regardless of the person's background.
Mo Yu, having noticed Feng Qing'er and the others, quickly shifted his gaze. With his current strength, there was no need to worry about any faction other than the mysterious Hall of Souls.
However, he was surprised that even with his powerful soul perception, he hadn't detected any signs of the Hall of Souls.
Boom!
After about ten minutes of tense waiting, the ground began to tremble. The enormous palace, which had been silent until now, rumbled loudly.
Suddenly, the heavy crimson stone gate slowly rose, revealing a pitch-black passageway behind it.
"The gate is opening!"
Seeing this, many people's eyes turned red with excitement. Some, unable to contain themselves, immediately shot toward the passage, laughing loudly as they rushed inside.
The sight of someone making the first move caused the crowd to stir. Figures began flashing forward, all of them racing toward the passage as if afraid the treasures would be snatched away before they could get their hands on them.
Compared to these rash individuals, Mo Yu's group remained still. If the legacy of a Dou Saint could be entered so easily, it would be far too simple.
Whoosh!
As expected, just moments after several people rushed into the passage, it turned a deep crimson.
Molten lava gushed out from within, while at the same time, bright blue flames shot from the walls on either side of the passage.
Anyone touched by these blue flames was incinerated into ash before they could even scream.
The sudden change turned the once-busy passage into a deathtrap, instantly wiping out those who had rushed in.
"Hmph, a mere fire trap won't stop us," one of the larger factions said, finally deciding to take action. While dangerous, the fire trap was not enough to pose a deadly threat to them.
Mo Yu's group wasn't fazed either. They had already experienced similar dangers in the Sea Demon Sovereign's temple, where lightning traps had tested them. This fire trap was no different.
Though the group successfully made it through the fire trap without much difficulty, Mo Yu and Xiao Yan's groups were separated in the process.
Mo Yu shook his head but didn't dwell on it. He began scanning the area beyond the fire trap.
Before them stood an enormous hall. Within this vast space, Mo Yu and his companions appeared minuscule.
Looking around, Mo Yu noticed deep corridors branching out from the hall, disappearing into the distance. Several factions and strong experts had already started making their way into these corridors.
"Zi Yan, can you sense anything?" Mo Yu asked, frowning slightly as he looked at the endless passageways.
"I can smell something medicinal, but it's faint. It's coming from over there," Zi Yan replied, her nose twitching before she pointed in a certain direction.
Hearing this, Mo Yu fell into thought. As an Ancient Void Dragon, Zi Yan had an innate sense for the Dragon-Phoenix Origin Fruit.
"Let's follow where you're pointing, then!" Mo Yu said.
Zi Yan's face lit up with a smile. Without hesitation, she pushed off the ground and darted toward the forest in the direction she had indicated. Mo Yu and Little Doctor Immortal quickly followed.
After flying for an unknown amount of time, the three reached a specific area. Suddenly, Little Doctor Immortal spoke up, her voice low.
"It's so quiet here."
"Yes, something feels strange," Mo Yu said, stopping as his expression became cautious.
This was an ancient forest filled with magical beasts. It shouldn't be this quiet.
Zi Yan leaped down from a tree, a thoughtful expression on her face. She walked forward slowly, then stopped after about ten steps. Her expression grew serious as she extended her hand.
The moment her hand touched the air about half a foot in front of her, a golden light suddenly appeared out of thin air.
Mo Yu and Little Doctor Immortal looked at the golden light in surprise.
The light formed an inverted bowl shape, round at the top and wide at the bottom, covering an area of about ten meters. Though the light was bright, it was hidden by the thick forest, making it hard to notice unless you were close.
"This is a Beast Spirit Barrier. Only extremely powerful magical beasts can condense this type of barrier at the moment of their death," Zi Yan said, her small hand gently tracing the light, a hint of sadness on her face.
Mo Yu remained silent. If this barrier had summoned Zi Yan, it likely meant that its creator had been an Ancient Void Dragon.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to him, and his silver eyes brightened. "This… might be what we're looking for."
Zi Yan nodded slightly, hope flickering in her eyes. She bit her fingertip, and a drop of golden blood appeared. She gently placed her finger on the barrier, drawing a golden line across it.
"Only those with the same bloodline can open a Beast Spirit Barrier."
As the golden line was drawn, the barrier began to ripple, and a crack slowly opened in the golden light.
"Let's go."
Without hesitation, Zi Yan stepped inside. Mo Yu grabbed Little Doctor Immortal's hand and followed her. Once they entered, the golden light rippled again, and the crack disappeared.
The moment they passed through the barrier, the lush forest vanished, replaced by a barren plain.
The plain stretched out before them, covered in red soil.
In the center of the plain stood a massive ancient stone altar, towering a hundred meters high.
An almost imperceptible aura of authority radiated from the altar.
"What an intense pressure," Mo Yu murmured.
Just the aura alone was enough to make him feel this way. Whoever had created this must have been at least a saint-level expert.
Zi Yan's gaze was immediately drawn to the altar. After a moment of hesitation, she pushed off the ground and flew toward it. Surprisingly, she didn't seem affected by the pressure.
Seeing this, Mo Yu realized something and quickly followed with Little Doctor Immortal. Soon, they landed on the altar.
Standing close to the massive altar, an overwhelming sense of ancientness and age washed over them.
They were in the middle of the altar, standing near the base of a long staircase that stretched up to the top.
Zi Yan stared intently at the top of the stairs, where the mysterious call she had been feeling seemed to grow stronger.
Taking a deep breath, Zi Yan's face turned serious. She stomped her foot and shot up the stone steps, reaching the top in just a few flashes.
Mo Yu and Little Doctor Immortal exchanged a glance and hurriedly followed.
When they reached the top, they saw the look of astonishment and joy on Zi Yan's face.
Following her gaze, they saw a stone platform in the center of the altar, glowing with both gold and purple hues.
On the stone platform was a half-foot wide groove, and from this groove, a small tree had sprouted.
The sapling was no thicker than a thumb but was coiled like a tiny dragon. At the top of the sapling, a single fruit hung.
The fruit was about the size of a palm, and its entire surface shimmered with gold and purple. Upon closer inspection, they could see that the golden half of the fruit resembled a miniature Ancient Void Dragon, while the purple half resembled a dancing Heavenly Demon Phoenix!
"The Dragon-Phoenix Origin Fruit!" Mo Yu exclaimed in a deep voice. (End of Chapter)
