Chapter 565: Attending the Space Trading Convention
Within Yuanfu's inner courtyard.
"Caillin, and all of you, you've arrived?"
Uncle Snake looked at Caillin and the group of serpent people, his face showing a smile. Although he had left the serpent people for many years, in his heart, they were always his roots. Seeing so many of his kin arrive now naturally filled him with joy.
"Greetings to the Grand Elder!"
Under Caillin's leadership, the strong serpent warriors gazed at Uncle Snake with reverence and respect.
As the most powerful figure in the history of the serpent people, and someone who had reached the legendary level of a Saint, Uncle Snake had long left the tribe. Still, to the serpent people, he was their pride. Even though he had not returned, Caillin had honored him with the title of Grand Elder of the serpent tribe.
"Hehe, there's no need to be so formal. You all came to Central Plains with Caillin, so you must be some of the strongest and most promising individuals from the tribe. Central Plains is vast, and its resources are abundant—far beyond what the Northwest Continent can offer. Here, you'll gain experience and quickly grow stronger, so don't waste this opportunity," Uncle Snake said with a smile.
Although he came from the serpent tribe and was now their strongest member, with his relationship with Mo Yu, it was unlikely he would return to live with the serpent people. However, helping to train more strong serpent warriors was a simple matter for him.
"Thank you, Grand Elder!"
Hearing his words, the serpent people, including Mo Bas, expressed their gratitude. Even Caillin's beautiful face showed a hint of joy. As the queen of the Serpent Empire, she naturally benefited from the growth of her people's strength.
"Alright, you've come a long way to reach Central Plains, so go and get some rest," Uncle Snake said after chatting with Caillin for a while.
"You all talk," Caillin said softly to Mo Yu, sensing that Uncle Snake had something private to discuss. She led the group of serpent warriors away.
Once Caillin and the others left, Uncle Snake turned back to Mo Yu with a smile. "Caillin has changed so much, she's becoming more and more of a woman. You know, the queens of our serpent tribe have always been proud and aloof. Who would have thought that a twist of fate would bind her to you?"
Mo Yu shrugged, acknowledging that his relationship with Caillin had indeed been a complex one. No one could have predicted that the Medusa Queen, once full of hostility toward him, would become his wife.
"I've heard about your recent situation. Along with the Seven Sky Masters sent to the Flame Alliance, the Soul Hall dispatched three Sky Masters, one of whom was a Half-Saint. This clearly shows they weren't just playing around. But this time, they suffered a great loss—not only did you take the souls they collected, but you also injured the Third Sky Master so badly that he barely escaped."
Uncle Snake's eyes gleamed with admiration as he spoke. "The Third Sky Master, Blacklight Sage, though newly advanced to Half-Saint, was still a true Saint-level expert. That you, at the level of a Five-Turn Dou Zun, could defeat a beginner Half-Saint—it's no wonder this news has caused such a stir, not just in the Northwest Continent but across Central Plains."
On the continent, Dou Sheng (Saint-level) experts rarely appeared, so Half-Saint experts were often the most powerful beings in sight. Even though Yuanfu had two Half-Saints, making it one of the top forces on the continent, Mo Yu himself hadn't yet been recognized among the truly elite fighters. But after his victory over the Third Sky Master, Mo Yu's strength could no longer be ignored.
Taking a deep breath, Uncle Snake pondered for a moment and then added, "As for what the Soul Hall is plotting, I honestly don't know. They've always been mysterious, and their collection of souls surely ties into some dark scheme. Recently, their efforts have intensified, which suggests that whatever they're planning is accelerating. According to the information we've received, there are also ongoing wars on continents beyond Central Plains, where new strong factions are rising. For example, the Shui family from the Southern Continent has earned quite a reputation in their resistance against the Soul Hall. Although they're not on your level, they did manage to take down one of the Soul Hall's Sky Masters."
"Oh? The Shui family from the Southern Continent?" Mo Yu raised an eyebrow, an image of a gentle woman flashing in his mind. He hadn't expected the Shui family, once on the verge of being demoted from the Five Great Families, to rise to such prominence, even dealing a blow to the Soul Hall.
Uncle Snake nodded gravely and then sighed, changing the subject. "In about half a month, the Space Trading Convention will begin. Only the most powerful factions and top experts can participate. With Yuanfu's current standing, we've qualified to attend. I'll stay here to watch over Yuanfu, but you should go with Qing Zhi to attend. You might find something valuable that will help you reach the Half-Saint level."
Hearing this, Mo Yu was momentarily surprised, but then he nodded in agreement.
The Space Trading Convention was a high-tier event known only to the most powerful factions and experts across the continent. Had Yuanfu not gained such a strong reputation, they wouldn't even qualify to attend.
The convention was organized by three relatively low-profile sects: the Ground Sect, the Sky Mystic Gate, and the Treasure Appraisal Mountain. Although their names weren't as well-known as those of the Four Pavilions, even major powers like Burning Flame Valley and the Heavenly Underworld Sect didn't dare underestimate them. These three sects had earned a reputation for their credibility over countless dealings, which made them the perfect hosts. The convention itself had grown larger with each passing year, attracting hidden experts and priceless treasures.
It was said that even legendary Heavenly-ranked Dou Techniques could appear there. Mo Yu was intrigued. He had reached the Five-Turn Dou Zun level and was not far from becoming a Half-Saint. Perhaps he could find something there to accelerate his breakthrough. Moreover, he needed resources to nurture his various Xuan Lei (Mysterious Thunder). The convention seemed like the perfect place to find what he needed.
Having made up his mind, Mo Yu nodded to Uncle Snake and left to prepare for the Space Trading Convention.
...
Half a month later, at the back mountain of Yuanfu, a group of strong presences gathered. Besides Mo Yu, Uncle Snake and Qing Zhi, both Half-Saint experts, were also present.
"Set off now. With Qing Zhi by your side and your own strength, even a Half-Saint won't be able to harm you," Uncle Snake smiled, watching the energized Mo Yu. The convention was about to begin.
Mo Yu nodded. Alongside Qing Zhi were Caillin, Xiao Yi Xian, and Qing Lin. There were only a few with him. Since this trip was primarily for trading, bringing too large a group might attract unwanted attention.
"Mo Yu, stay safe." Xiao Yu walked forward on her long, slender legs, adjusting his clothes. Her face showed reluctance, but she spoke softly.
Originally, she had wanted to go with him, but as the Lady of Yuanfu, her presence was needed to maintain order in his absence. So, she stayed behind.
"Don't worry. I'll be fine," Mo Yu reassured her with a smile, patting her shoulder.
"Master, safe travels!" his three new apprentices called out together from nearby. Huang Tu smiled warmly, Xuanwo Zhu remained cool, and Xiang Lin looked as sweet and charming as ever.
Caillin watched this scene, a strange expression on her face. She still couldn't quite accept that the boy from back then had now become a teacher to others.
Mo Yu, noticing her odd look, paid no mind. He glanced at his apprentices, feeling satisfied. Uncle Snake had a good eye for talent. In just one month, all three had advanced by one star, and Xuanwo Zhu was even close to gaining a second star.
Even so, Mo Yu remained serious. "Train well while I'm gone. The first to reach Dou Huang will be rewarded."
"Oh?" The three apprentices' eyes lit up at his words.
To them, Mo Yu was the epitome of power, and the thought of a reward from him thrilled them.
Mo Yu chuckled and shook his head, then turned to look at Uncle Snake.
"Don't worry. I've got things covered here," Uncle Snake said with a smile.
Mo Yu nodded. With their close relationship, no more words of thanks were needed. He glanced at Qing Zhi and the three women, gave a slight nod, and then they all swiftly took off into the distance.
The Space Trading Convention was being held in a barren desert in the northeastern region of Central Plains.
...
Outside the desert, the clear sky suddenly echoed with the sound of rushing wind. In an instant, several figures appeared on the horizon, landing at the edge of the desert.
"This is the place?" Caillin asked in surprise as she looked at the vast expanse of sand in front of her.
She had always thought of Central Plains as a land of heroes, yet here was a remote, desolate area.
"Yes," Mo Yu smiled. As his gaze swept around, his face grew serious. "Though it looks deserted, if you focus, you'll sense many powerful presences here."
After arriving, Mo Yu sensed at least a hundred strong auras within the desert. The weakest of these was at the Three-Star Dou Zun level, while the strongest radiated a unique energy comparable to Qing Zhi's—an unmistakable aura of a Saint-level expert.
The others soon noticed it too, their previous relaxed expressions now becoming serious.
"Quite the impressive gathering. No wonder this is Central Plains' top-tier trading event," Xiao Yi Xian commented with a sigh.
Mo Yu chuckled. "This is only a fraction. Once we're inside, you'll see the full scale of this 'high-tier' event."
Thanks to Yuanfu's intelligence network, Mo Yu had learned a great deal about the event and the powerful factions attending it. Although Yuanfu was strong, they were far from the most formidable among the participants.
Seeing the serious look on Mo Yu's face, Caillin, Xiao Yi Xian, and Qing Lin nodded slightly.
"But Yuanfu isn't some weakling either. We won't provoke others, but if someone messes with us, I won't hesitate to strike back," Mo Yu said confidently, flashing a smile at the women.
"If you see anything you like at the convention, don't hesitate to buy it. I'm treating."
As the head of Yuanfu, he had the means to back up his words.
Hearing this, the three women's eyes lit up. Though they were powerful and held high status, what woman could resist shopping? Especially when it was their beloved treating them.
"Let's go," Mo Yu said, seeing their excitement. He waved his hand and stepped forward, flying into the desert.
As he moved, the fierce sandstorms parted a hundred meters around him, leaving his path clear. The others quickly followed.
In just under twenty minutes, they had reached the heart of the desert.
There, atop a towering sand dune, they saw a massive black spatial vortex, nearly a hundred meters wide, spinning slowly. Waves of spatial energy spread from it like ripples.
Figures could be seen leaping from the surrounding sand dunes into the vortex, disappearing in its depths.
"This is the entrance to the Space Trading Convention? They've created an entire separate space for it. Impressive," Mo Yu commented with a smile as he took in the scene.
