Due to the canal and sea transportation, Jinmen developed rapidly.
During the Great Xing Period of the previous dynasty, this place was occupied by the Golden Tent Wolf Country, changed Zhigou to Haijin, and established the Da Zigou Salt Transport Department, specifically managing salt transportation. When the Great Xuan Dynasty was founded, they established a garrison to guard the Capital and built the city.
Because the city is long east-west and short north-south, resembling an abacus, the common folk call it "Abacus City."
The city walls are rammed earth wrapped in bricks, with four gates: Zhen Dong, Anxi, Dingnan, and Gongbei.

Within the Heavenly Empress Temple, the renowned Mazu is enshrined.
