Chapter 22 - A mistake to regret

The next morning, Dr. Yuanyun woke earlier than usual. The soft light of dawn crept in through the thin curtains, painting the room in pale gold. His eyes instinctively turned to the figure lying beside him. Huo Yi was still asleep, his breathing calm, lips slightly parted. For five whole minutes, Yuanyun just stood there watching him, a mixture of warmth and hesitation stirring in his chest.

Finally, unable to resist, he bent down and brushed a gentle peck across Huo Yi's forehead, careful not to wake him. A faint smile tugged at his lips before he quietly got out of bed.

His clothes were still scattered across the floor from the night before. He picked them up quickly, dressing without making noise, and then headed straight to the kitchen. He knew what kind of night Huo Yi had gone through—the alcohol, the pain hidden behind those drunken words. Yuanyun decided he couldn't just walk away without doing something small for him.
