"Dr. Yuanyun?" Huo Yi whispered, more to himself than anyone else.
The name sounded strange on his lips, almost unbelievable. His heart was already broken, and in that shattered state, he didn't even think to ask how the doctor had gotten his number. Perhaps he had asked Dr. Chen for it? Or maybe Yuanyun had simply found another way. None of that mattered.
The phone continued to buzz in his hand. With a heavy sigh, he finally answered.
"Good evening, Dr. Yuanyun," Huo Yi greeted, his voice weak, carrying traces of tears he hadn't fully dried.
"Evening, Huo Yi. Sorry for calling this late. I took your number from the WeChat group," Yuanyun explained calmly.
"It's fine, doctor. Is there… is there anything you want me to do for you?" Huo Yi asked in a low voice, almost a whisper, but the tremor in his tone betrayed him. He had been crying for hours.
Yuanyun didn't answer the question immediately. Instead, his keen ear picked up the difference in Huo Yi's voice.
