Shock was written all over Huo Yi's face. He stood frozen, staring at Dr. Yuanyun, unsure if he had heard him correctly.
How could a doctor he had just met today suddenly ask him to accompany him for lunch?
"I'm sorry if I asked too straightforward," Dr. Yuanyun said calmly, his eyes not leaving Huo Yi's. "I saw you and I just… liked you."
Huo Yi blinked rapidly, his chest tightening. "I'm sorry, Dr. Yuanyun," he said after a pause, "but I can't accept your offer. And by the way, I don't know you, and also… I don't like you. I just see you as a doctor and my teacher."
The words came out sharper than he intended.
For the first time in years, Dr. Yuanyun had found someone who sparked his interest at first sight, but the rejection cut deep. A small part of him grew angry at being turned down, yet instead of showing it, he hid his emotions with a calm expression. Deep down, however, he promised himself—he would not give up.
