The silence after the blackout was suffocating.

For a heartbeat, Alex didn't move. He sat frozen in the driver's seat, one hand gripping the steering wheel, the other around his gun, his eyes straining to adjust to the sudden darkness.

The air was thick with rain and engine fumes. The only light came from the faint orange glow of a distant streetlamp at the end of the alley, painting everything in dim, shaky shadows.

He listened to the Footsteps, they were close now, careful and calculated.

Someone was moving toward him.
