Chapter 96 - CHAPTER 94: Short Break

Burned by the sunlight, all the vampires quickly turned to charcoal, releasing black smoke.

The vampires had only managed to wander near the cave entrance. Javier glanced over and ordered the soldiers to throw explosive and incendiary grenades into the cave. After a massive explosion, flames burst from the entrance like a volcanic eruption.

All the vampires inside were reduced to ashes. Javier approached a vampire's corpse and, upon touching it, the body crumbled into dust.

At that moment, the ruins began to shake, as if a collapse had occurred deep underground.

Javier and his companions immediately ran up the mountain. When they reached the top and looked back, they saw that the entire village below had caved in.

Once the smoke and dust had settled, all that remained was a massive, deep crater. The ruins had been completely buried, and every vampire was annihilated.

Javier and his men suffered heavy losses during the operation. Only Lin Ye and five members of the Shenya Pharmaceutical Company survived. Half of Javier's men had perished.

They returned to the distant camp, where Junjie was already waiting for them. He had been monitoring everything through the body cameras attached to the soldiers.

Once they ventured deep underground, the signal was lost. All Junjie could do was wait for Javier and the others to return and reveal what had happened.

Seeing them disheveled and exhausted, Junjie walked up to them and welcomed them into the tent, while Lin Ye began explaining the situation.

Upon learning that Javier and Krauser had reached the lowest level, Junjie turned and looked at them both.

Javier understood that Junjie wanted to know what had transpired, so he asked Krauser to explain and handed Junjie Claude's journal.

Junjie was relieved to learn that the threat in the underground ruins had been neutralized. If those vampires had managed to escape to the surface, it would've spelled disaster for humanity.

Javier and Krauser returned to their tent. They would rest there for a day before leaving. After the disappearance of their own men, the Tricell Company had sent personnel to investigate. Upon arriving at the village, they also discovered the corpse of a vampire reduced to charcoal.

Soon after, Tricell dispatched teams to isolate the area and began preparations to excavate the underground ruins.

Javier wasn't concerned when he heard the news. The entire site had been destroyed. Even if Tricell's team uncovered anything, all they would find were ashes and debris.

The next day, Javier and Krauser returned to the base, and Krauser went back to his home on the island. Javier granted him a week of leave.

Javier then headed to the laboratory and handed over the vampire's corpse, the living specimen, and the collected samples to Alexia. She showed great interest in them.

Javier's assigned task was to study the secret of the vampire's longevity, combine all known viruses, and develop a new and enhanced potion.

After Javier's departure, Alexia and her team devoted themselves entirely to the research. Everyone was highly motivated.

Javier returned to his mansion and lay comfortably in his large bed, watching the bright sun outside. Compared to the dark, underground ruins, he now felt truly at ease.

He spent an entire week resting at the mansion and had no desire to leave.

During that time, Sherry visited him frequently. Now a young woman, Sherry was stunningly beautiful.

She had inherited the intelligence and talent of her parents and was currently attending university. She only returned to the island during holidays. With few friends there and a mother who was constantly in the lab, Sherry had little choice but to hang out with Javier for company.

Javier, meanwhile, had little to occupy his time. Natasha and Catherine were at the company, Alexia and the others were in the research institute, and his army was under the command of Krauser and the Wolf Team.

After eliminating all the vampires, Javier's points had skyrocketed.

He finally used them to acquire high-grade enhancement potions from the system store.

After taking the potion, Javier became even stronger, and his intellect also improved.

His body grew more resilient—it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it was now as tough as steel. Even if injured, he healed rapidly. His vision became razor-sharp, allowing him to see great distances and pierce through darkness. Most notably, his speed reached 1,500 meters per second, far surpassing even Wesker at his peak.

Seeing these changes, Javier was deeply satisfied. Now, his only concern was ensuring longevity for himself and his women. He hoped Alexia would develop the new potion as soon as possible.

Although the system offered longevity-enhancing medicines, they were outrageously expensive and only extended life by one to ten years. The points required for a single dose were astronomical.

Javier used some of his points to create a small battalion tasked with ensuring the island's security. He didn't want his base to suffer the same fate as the original Rockford Island, which had been bombed.

While Javier was busy resting and fortifying his island, the team led by Alex Wesker—who had been studying a certain virus on an isolated island—suddenly vanished. This delivered a severe mental and physical blow to Oswell E. Spencer, the former president of Umbrella, who was now in the twilight of his life.

Spencer, the last remaining Umbrella founder, was on the brink of death. He immersed himself in research with even greater intensity, surviving only on liquid nutrition.

As he came to terms with the approach of death, Spencer ordered his butler, Patrick, to deliver a letter to Wesker. Patrick paid a hefty sum to an informant to ensure that Wesker would encounter him "by accident." Shortly afterward, Patrick was abruptly dismissed.

The spy who had infiltrated Alex Wesker's inner circle lost contact after transmitting one final set of coordinates. It was highly likely that something had happened to him.

Based on those last coordinates, the location was an island known as Sein Island. Alex Wesker was most likely there.

To avoid alerting the enemy, Javier sent several agents to the island. He also began closely monitoring Neil Fisher, the director of TerraSave, whom he suspected of having ties to Alex Wesker.
