Chapter 102 - CHAPTER 100: Spencer Mansion

Reluctantly, Javier still went along with Aya to watch an opera performance, which was pure torture for him. During his brief stay in Washington, however, he and Aya had developed a friendship.

Javier returned to his villa in Los Angeles, and before he could even sit down, Jill and Chris showed up. However, there was something strange in the way Chris looked at him. If this weren't Javier's own territory, Chris might've attacked him on sight.

"Chris, what a rare visit. But Jill, don't you have a mission? Why are you here?" Javier asked with a smile.

Jill looked at him and replied, "We found Spencer's residence."

Javier's expression lit up with excitement.

Since Umbrella's collapse, Spencer had vanished from the public eye, and several organizations had failed to uncover his whereabouts—until now.

"Then why did you come to me?" Javier asked, confused.

"We were hoping you'd come with us to ensure your safety. Spencer's mansion is likely heavily guarded," Chris said.

Javier nodded. "Alright, but you'll have to do me a favor too." He handed Jill a photo.

"Who's this?" she asked as she examined the image.

The man in the photo was Dr. Isaacs. There had been no news about him since his last appearance.

"That's Dr. Isaacs, Umbrella's chief researcher and a former student of Dr. Marcus. This guy is extremely dangerous. He wants to create a new species to replace humanity. The recent incident in Washington was caused by him."

Jill tucked the photo away. "Don't worry—we'll contact you as soon as we get any leads."

After that, Javier spoke with them for a while longer, and then they left.

The next day, the mission was already underway.

Javier knew Wesker was also searching for Spencer. Since the BSAA had located him, Wesker had probably received the same intel.

In the game, Jill nearly died at Spencer's mansion and was later controlled by Wesker. Javier would never let that happen.

The following morning, Javier arrived at BSAA headquarters. The three of them boarded a helicopter bound for Spencer's mansion. To maintain the operation's secrecy, they didn't bring a large team. Their goal was to capture Spencer swiftly and efficiently.

After a two-hour flight, they arrived at a cliffside mansion by the sea. From the helicopter, Javier glanced down at it. It looked ominous and eerie. The surrounding trees were all dead, leaving only barren trunks. It resembled a haunted house.

The three disembarked from the chopper, which soon flew off.

Jill and Chris cautiously approached the mansion, weapons drawn, while Javier could feel a chilling sense of death in the air—as if many had died in this place.

They reached the front door. Jill crouched down and began to pick the lock.

"Why not just let me break it down? This is taking forever," Javier muttered.

Jill rolled her eyes at him.

"You want to alert the enemy? What if Spencer escapes?"

"I've contacted HQ. Satellite images show everything in the mansion looks normal. We need to capture Spencer as soon as possible," Chris said.

"Chris, nothing about this place is normal. Who the hell lives in a creepy house like this? Something's clearly wrong here."

Click. Jill unlocked the door.

"Quit your whining and get in already," she said, stepping inside, with Javier and Chris following close behind.

The trio entered the mansion and reached the hallway.

"Something definitely happened here," Chris noted, staring at the bloodstains on the floor.

Suddenly, a body fell from the upper floor and crashed to the ground.

Jill approached and examined it. "This must've been one of Spencer's bodyguards. His throat was slit. Looks like someone got here before us."

Chris frowned and glanced around. "We need to find Spencer quickly. We can't let him fall into someone else's hands."

The three stared into the mansion.

"Looks like we'll have to split up. There are rooms everywhere, and we don't know where Spencer is," Jill said. "I'll take the upper floor. You two check the ground level."

Javier walked to the left-hand door and kicked it open. Chris and Jill exchanged glances and sighed, speechless, before heading upstairs.

Javier entered a lavishly decorated dining hall. The back of the room was the kitchen, and there were no other exits.

Just then, gunfire echoed from outside. Javier rushed into the hallway. Only Jill was there.

"Where's Chris?"

"He went through the door on the right side of the first floor. The shots came from that direction," Jill answered, worried.

They reached the large door on the right and stepped into a corridor. More gunshots rang out, and they rushed toward the sound. Chris was engaged in combat with a monstrous creature.

The monster was enormous, wielding a massive hammer as it tried to crush Chris. Javier and Jill quickly opened fire.

The monster was hit and turned its attention toward them. Chris took the chance to fall back, wounded.

Seeing that Chris had created some distance, Javier fired five shots from his Desert Eagle. Chris then rejoined them, and together they finished the creature off.

"This sick old bastard really made these things in his own house," Javier muttered, examining the corpse.

"Did you find anything?" Chris asked, approaching him.

"Unfortunately not. There's a kitchen and a dining room on the other side," Javier replied, shrugging.

"There's a passage upstairs, but it's locked. You need a badge to open it. I think there's also a code, but we don't know it. The badge is likely in the underground prison," Jill said.

"A key? Jill, I'm just going to break it down," Javier declared and walked off. Jill and Chris followed.

When the three reached the second floor, they saw a heavy metal door firmly shut.

Javier stepped forward and kicked it. The door shook, and dust rained down from the ceiling—but it didn't budge, which only made Javier more irritated.

He took a few steps back, then charged forward with full force. With a loud bang, the door burst open, crashing into the wall behind it.

"There. Done," Javier said with a smug grin.

Jill and Chris looked at him silently, then entered. A long hallway stretched out before them, lined with the corpses of Spencer's bodyguards.

It seemed someone had already reached Spencer.

The three of them quickened their pace, walking down the corpse-filled corridor. At the end stood an old wooden door.

Spencer was likely inside.

"Hmph. If you really want to be useful, then entertain me, try to throw those pathetic power stones at me. Let's see if even your insolence can amuse a king."

From today onwards, the chapters of RE: Evolution will be posted only on Saturday and Sunday, the updates will be 3 to 4 chapters, maybe more if I manage to write everything.

Obviously I won't be posting chapters of it during the week, only Saturday and Sunday now.
