He realized that he had fallen into Kiernan's trap that he had very carefully created just to counter his future sight.
When Kiernan realized that he had future sight, he kept fighting normally and just waited for a good moment.
He knew that Prisoner wouldn't keep fighting him forever and would eventually try to finish him off.
And after hearing Death's shout, he knew that the time for that had come.
Kiernan left himself open and vulnerable for Prisoner to have an easy one-shot kill on his opponent and allowed him to stab his arm through his torso.
He did that so that he had his arm stuck in his own torso so he couldn't pull it out to avoid his next move.
Kiernan then waited five seconds before making a move.
Exactly five seconds so that his future sight wouldn't detect his real intention before Prisoner stabbed his arm through his body.
