A quick flash of light lit up the top of a tower of The Seh Jenah Fortress.
"Everything is in place boss..." Andrew appeared, smiling at a silent and expressionless Griffin.
There was no response, only a short nod as explosions rang out from the plaza below.
However, in Griffin's perception... The world was silent, leaving his vision as his only real sense in that moment.
All he could do... Was gaze down at The Vex of Seh Jenah who was locked amidst a slowly growing fight with Hans from Unity...
However...
Little did Unity know... Just how much of a monster Veximus truly was...
"Do you think we can win?" Andrew asked, a slight tad of nervousness shaking at the end of his light-hearted tone.
Griffin finally spoke, his potent eyes glimmering lively against the reflection his ivory chestplate.
"I had originally planned to battle both Phillip and Veximus in this plaza... So honestly... We have a better chance than we did before." Griffin internally thanked Chase and Equan for making such valiant sacrifices in what had now become a fully fledged war.
"I see... Well. I've never once seen a shadow not be repressed by light. So, shall we boss?" Andrew motioned with a smile, preparing to fall gracefully from the peak of the tower.
"Not yet... We need Unity to hold out a little longer... If we tag in too early... We could risk the lives of everyone involved... Just... Trust me." Griffin scowled, the handle of his rapier catching the rays of his sun with a near-blinding light.
"Understood." Andrew nodded, choosing to readjust his own chestplate and even equip a leather headband for good luck.
...
BOOM!
Hans shot his fist forth, bringing reckoning to a wide range of area in his frontal vision.
Vex had vanished.
Appearing behind him was the indominable warrior, flashing his blade and slashing down at a completely off-guard Hans.
The ground funneled and rippled, bowing to his blade in what could only be described as a hundred percent fatal offense.
Hans gasped for air, realizing that his feet were still on stable ground.
Jacob patted him on the back, nodding shortly before vanishing with a blast of air.
...
Lowering his head, Jacob shut his eyes as the plaza flashed in cycles... A sight completely unbearable and dizziness influencing.
'Gah...' He grimaced, his feet clattering against the ground faster than he could even comprehend.
'Just sick to the plan...' Jacob repeated Luke's words over and over, continuedly reminding himself just how much was at stake.
His eyes snapped open, darting in every direction as he openly braced for the challenge of perceiving reality at a speed far beyond what a human should be capable of.
"Kaylynn is there, Justin is about to enter the radius, Brody is still lingering, Hans hasn't gotten back in yet, Gideon... GIDEON!" Jacob's boots shrieked as he changed his direction, launching himself towards his ally.
Gideon threw himself aside, narrowly missing a fatal slash from Vex.
He chuckled, bursting forth with a flash of light and grabbing Gideon by the arm before he could flee.
"Egh!" He panicked, firing a blast of violet Primis at Veximus... Who reacted as if a weak gust of wind had blown lightly into his face.
Gideon's eyes widened as Vex's blade began to descend upon him.
CLANG!
Jacob's daggers nicked the edge of Vex's blade knocking aside his balance if only just barely.
"Brody!" Jacob panicked, coming to a sliding stop on his knees as his pants began to sizzle under the friction.
Vex cocked an eyebrow, grinning as he turned... Clocking Brody in the jaw and sending his figure crashing through the very ground below them.
Debris flew in every direction as more dust filled the air, making Jacob's job twice as difficult.
'There is no way in hell that's intentional... Is it?' Jacob could only stand paralyzed stuck in deep and ragged breath.
"Don't stop!" Luke leaped over Jacob, meeting Vex's already moving form.
CLAAAAAANG!
A horrendous shriek of metal filled the air, followed by the mocking laughter of Vex... Who's eyes were looking down at Luke's trembling blade under his own.
"A sword?" He cackled, only before grabbing Luke's metal arm with his offhand and tearing it from the socket with a hasty yank...
The clash had ended before it began.
Vex grinned, unleashing several chains that shot towards a fleeing Luke with a haste of their own.
Luke turned with a leap, using his only arm to knock aside the first barrage of chains with an impressively persistent counter.
Chains of his own tore from his body, firing towards Vex... Who turned with graceful footwork, bringing his blade down on Luke's attack, completely rendering it useless as energy blasted throughout the air of the battlefield.
'What the hell am I supposed to do against that...?' Luke thought, catching himself and spinning back onto his feet with a trembling blade in his hand.
Vex turned his head, a look of pity briefly flashing before unleashing another attack.
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
'Impressive...' Vex thought, turning and unleashing a heavily imbued Cryptis slash upon Luke, who's eyes glanced up in quick horror.
He dashed to the side, which caught Vex off guard as his sword drove into the ground seemingly going to hit no matter where he went...
'Why there?' Vex questioned, readying his blade and bracing his body.
Suddenly, from the cloud of dust... Hans broke through, driving his fist into Vex's face... Or would have.
CLANG!
The flat of Vex's sword met the unpredictable impact of Hans' attack with almost unreal ease.
A quick tremble recoiled, before Vex growled... Turning his body and reeling his blade with a large portion of his might at Hans' immobile and suspended figure.
In a last second blast of rocks that damaged self inflected wounds to Hans' arm, he barely managed to avoid the fifty foot long slash of indigo energy that met the very walls of Seh Jenah's fortress with an ear-shattering explosion.
Hans crash landed, rolling and colliding with large chunks of debris before Justin finally caught his immense momentum with an upward slope of solid blood.
"We can't beat him..." Kaylynn took a shaky breath with wide eyes, unable to take her eyes off Vex who had now locked onto Luke completely with no interruptions.
"Damnit!" Justin yelled, grabbing Gideon by the collar and walking with pace towards the heart of the battlefield.
"Let me go! I don't want to fight him!" Gideon yelled, trying to free himself from Justin's grip.
"I need you to use more Primis!" Justin growled, casting several hexes in the air behind him and launching several attacks at Vex from afar.
"I don't have anymore! I used it all last night!" He pleaded.
"Tch! Do you see anyone else complaining about their reserves! Gods damnit all Gideon! You seen Jack rip his own Catalyst apart for the sake of beating Callahan! Callahan damnit! How many people need to die before we finally learn to hold our own!" Justin's face was ridden with anger.
It was a completely unfamiliar sight for Gideon, who looked up dumbfounded while being dragged by his own ally.
Suddenly a grin flashed on Justin's face.
"I mean come on... We can't seriously let those so called Champions have all the spotlight... What kind of guild are we... If we can't even fight in our hardest battles...?"
Jacob blankly stared at Justin only seconds before the battlefield was completely torn up once more.
