God sighed and returned his gaze to Charlotte.
There was no emotion in his eyes.
"You and that child are very bad children. Very bad, indeed. You don't appreciate the things I gave you, and you won't remember the good I've done. Letting you hate me is a good thing."
He stopped for a moment and finally made a decision. "I was being too nice to you. You have taken my kindness for granted. I'll show you what real cruelty is next time!"
Later, God ordered a guard to take Charlotte back into the Reflection Prison. On the way back, the guard asked her, "Are you prepared?"
"Yes," Charlotte said. "Tell me how to cooperate with you."
